I have been waiting for this for a very long time! :-)

I don't think Martha's life was ruined at all. I think she's survived the best because she was the most realistic about who and what The Doctor is.

Donna would have been also, because they were never anything more than best mates, if the Doctor/Donna hadn't happened and he hadn't had to erase it to save her life.

I loved DT becoming The Doctor, especially the whole 'wishing to be ginger' thing. And we often say 'New teeth, weird' in this house when our tongues slip. Grin

FrankelSaysRelax · 02/09/2012 15:27

I loved Matt Smith's regeneration speech: "I'm a girl!" and "Still not ginger!"

Just caught up. Bloody loved it! Loved the bit where the Doctor straightened his bow tie when Amy and Rory were starting to make upSmile.

Assume we get the first five episodes, then there's a break when they'll show Merlin and then back to Doctor Who with the Christmas special. Or not.

confuddledDOTcom · 02/09/2012 16:06

I think Martha was so in the post-Rose grief that she could never expect anything from him, which is why she was so shocked when Donna said "He talks about you all the time!"

I agree with Aitch about the speech about dying.

snapespeare · 02/09/2012 17:05

Now impatient for next Saturday!

Don't even get me started on the whole Rose horseyface tyler Rubbish she did my head in,

Cakebot · 02/09/2012 18:28

I had to take DS to see Brave just to get a break from the worlds longest Am-Dram performance of Doctor Who in living memory! I asked him if there was any discernable plot to his story and he said 'yes, adventures and explosions!' Move over, Moffat, You're out of a job!

Fiderer · 03/09/2012 06:58

I really enjoyed that episode. Had been a bit "Oh good, DW, oh god not the bloody daleks again" but for the first time I found them quite disturbing and the stalky bits and the dead was creepy.

Didn't click at all about Oswin being Dalekised. Still don't understand about her voice though - was she so mentally strong that she managed to override her Dalek voice over the speakers?

Cakebot · 03/09/2012 07:05

You couldn't hear her on the dalek speakers unless you were in the same room as her. Everyone else could hear her from inside wherever she was, when she wasn't speaking through the machine. The more I think about it, the more I think she's somewhere else, and her mind is using to channel inner Dalek.

Tee2072 · 03/09/2012 07:37

Except we saw her memories of being encased in a Dalek 'shell' but it's an interesting theory!

Cakebot · 03/09/2012 08:09

But was it actually a dalek shell, or was it just some sort of machine to channel her mind, a la Ganger? I only remember the wiring bits. No doubt I will have to watch the episode again about 10 times before next week, so will watch more closely!

NoHank · 03/09/2012 10:17

Just a thought but the end with the Daleks saying "Doctor Who?" repeatedly made me think back to the end of the last series - the bit about a question being asked at a certain time and place (sorry, rubbish at remembering) and that question being Doctor Who? Anyone else think they might be linked in some way? Maybe this is when the question is first asked? Or am I sprouting rubbish as usual Grin

Mrsjay · 03/09/2012 10:20

Maybe this is when the question is first asked? O

It is to do with the question first asked it has been a theme for ages and when he was in that place last series it was said then , I think it is all building up to the 50th next year

MammyToMany · 03/09/2012 10:24

I thought Martha was engaged to someone called Tom, he was a doctor or something. When the Doctor and Donna were called back for the Sontarn thing with the car fumes, she had an engagement ring on.

Mrsjay · 03/09/2012 10:27

she was engaged to him that was in the series where the master came back she met him in the future and then when it was all sorted , but maybe she found her life more exciting with mickey and huge rayguns shooting aliens Grin

confuddledDOTcom · 03/09/2012 11:17

If we're going to get into where did her human voice come from, where did the music come from? It was transmitting her not the darlek voice.

Martha found Tom again when time was reset and did say she was engaged to him, at some point that ended and she married Mickey but nothing was ever explained about it.

Cakebot · 03/09/2012 11:29

Martha did seem to be a serial fiance. It ruined the character a bit for me. A bit like 'well, she is a doctor, but that's not really important, as long as she has a man' The Mickey thing just seemed to be shoe horned in for the sake of having DT visit two characters at the same time.

Exactly. The more I think about it, the more I prefer the Matt Smith stories. DT far too sentimental and poor female characters. Considering they were written by a gay man, he did have an obsession with simpering heterosexual women!

Tee2072 · 03/09/2012 13:29

Well, they weren't all written by RTD, so not sure you can blame his sexuality for anything.

Come to think of it, even if he had written them all, you still can't blame his sexuality for anything...

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 03/09/2012 14:05

if you read his diaries, he pretty much did write them all... or so he told it.

Tee2072 · 03/09/2012 14:14

I'm sure he wrote parts of all of them, but S1 alone lists 19 writers across the series.

And my second sentence still stands.

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 03/09/2012 14:20

i know, but his diaries show him re-writing everything, honestly. he should have had a co-credit on each, but because he didn't take it for the first one authored by someone else, he didn't do it for any of them.

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 03/09/2012 14:24

mind you, i wouldn't have described Donna as simpering.

Tee2072 · 03/09/2012 14:26

Whatever, still not sure what his orientation has to do with it!
