I did wonder if River perhaps can visit them with the vortex manipulator? Or at least get parcels to them if it would create a paradox for her to see them face to face?

She could get them cash so they would have a nice set-up, and yes then they could do what they want without having to invent something /bet on a major event to earn enough money.

But I assumed the book said Amy was the publisher and that is how they knew they needed to get it to her.

i assumed it was river who put it into the doctor's pocket.

i still don't understand how amy was sufficiently contactable to get her to publish a bloody book, but her only method of communication was to write a post-script.

or am i being daft and it's not a real published book, just a set of instructions to get them through this adventure? in which case why not just write in the book 'DON'T SKIP PAGES'? in fact, why the book, if it's not real? ooooh, i just DON'T UNDERSTAND.

(these, by the way, were not the things that confused me three wweeks ago when i watched it. those were other things. i've got hundreds)

OK - so my theory is:
River writes the book after the events of this ep
The doctor and River somehow set up Rory and Amy with a decent life where they are book publishers (or Amy is anyway)
River sends book to Amy
The book is published by Amy in 19xx
What I haven't a bloody clue about is who put it in the doctor's jacket.
River at a future point in her lifetime, but earlier in the doctor's?
Did Sexy somehow magic it into the tardis or something?

surely, re the book... Moff should have had Amy be the author? doesn't that make more sense?

Maybe no one puts it in the Doctors jacket. maybe they publish in the full knowledge he'll pick the book up... Because he did.

Oh - and the assumption is that the doctor cannot go back on his own timeline (although he has, quite a lot, under Moff...) which is why he can't see Amy but maybe River can with the Vortex Manipulator. Her timeline is all over the bloody place anyway so what the hell.

Rory was bloody stupid looking at the headstone, though.

please don't say anything bad about moff, it actually hurts me for some reason. or rtd. i love them both so, just for daring to do what they do on saturday nights.

If the book was published all River needed to do was get it from the shop & ensure the Dr had it before the episode. River usually knowing what will happen.

River so does visit them!! Definitely.

I assume they sent it to away-with-the-angels Amy who knew how important it was and what to do with it. It wouldn't matter if she read it as she already knows what happened. She also wouldn't need publishing contacts, just the persistence to hawk it about or self publish.

soif she can visit them, why not say so when the poor doc is feeling bad about her having lost her parents?

this really needed a double episode, didn't it? too many blank spots. and tbh i do think moff knows the answer to all of these questions.

Sorry, Aitch, but if you're in the business, you get used to criticism. I'm not going to fall all over them just because they write Doctor Who. Not when they write it badly.

aitch it's probably on the cutting room floor or moff has assumed that we will join the dots ourselves. he knows the mega fans will have everything analysed to death.
