I loved Miracle day was i supposed to hate it Blush

la queen they are on a different time line and they had already died I think that is what happened Confused

Tee2072 · 29/09/2012 21:09

Yes, MrsJay, we first see Jack in The Empty Child, Ep 9 of series 1.

teejwood · 29/09/2012 21:09

LaQueen they were sent back to the 1930's I think, and it became a fixed point in time that couldn't be changed

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 29/09/2012 21:09

remind me how they knew amy was a publisher... did we see the book and i wasn't paying attention? (i only remember river's astonishing cleavage)

Tee2072 · 29/09/2012 21:10

Moffat does stand alones briliantly. Give him an arc and he falls apart.

Mrsjay · 29/09/2012 21:10

DUh christopher ecclestone was the Doctor int he empty child Ive confused myself now

edam · 29/09/2012 21:10

Weeping angels are scary. Moff is good but weirdly not that great sometimes - I think Aitch is right that he needs longer/double episodes.

Wasn't as sad about Amy and Rory leaving as they have each other. Not as tragic as Rose (the first time) and Donna.

Tee2072 · 29/09/2012 21:11

She said she was a travel writer Aitch. I assume that means she has publishing contacts.

teejwood · 29/09/2012 21:11

Aitch you are left to assume that they read it in the book- unless there was something I didn't spot in the ep...

miracle day was, without doubt, the biggest pile of irredeemably shite shit i have ever seen on tv. Grin i stuck with it right to the cavernous cunt, though... i'm loyal that way.

TheAngelshavetheOod · 29/09/2012 21:11

Don't think we see it , only in flashes anyway.

I liked that part of the story, especially the moment realisation hits

Mrsjay · 29/09/2012 21:11

did we see the book and i wasn't paying attention? (i only remember river's astonishing cleavage)

It was astounding they were just THERE Grin

yes we saw the book which was just a bit rubbish ,

Tee2072 · 29/09/2012 21:13

They become a fixed moment in time, which means changing it will blow up the universe. Or something like that, LaQueen.

And as I said, I am assuming the time disruption was world wide, not just NY. Otherwise they certainly could have landed elsewhere and driven in!

TheAngelshavetheOod · 29/09/2012 21:13

Oh & yes miracle day was shit! I remember aitch being ahead of us and trying to be optimistic and failing!

teejwood · 29/09/2012 21:14

gawd aitch i remember you really holding back notatall on the Miracle Day threads Grin

Tee2072 · 29/09/2012 21:14

Torchwood in general was shit, but it was fun shit until Children of Earth.

Then it became badly written shit. I will never forgive RTD for what he did to Jack.

Mrsjay · 29/09/2012 21:14

miracle day was, without doubt, the biggest pile of irredeemably shite shit i have ever seen on tv. i stuck with it right to the cavernous cunt, though... i'm loyal that way.

but but mikael phiffer (spelling) is so pretty I think that is why I stuck with it
, I was at my friends the thursday captain jacks sex scene was on I was supping wine and chatting then his ARSE just started bobbing up and down that was a coversation stopper

Mrsjay · 29/09/2012 21:15

children of Earth was just grim

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 29/09/2012 21:15

sure, but river says 'i presume i have to send my book to Amy to be published?'

you what what?

is amy a publisher?

how will they get manuscript to her?

is a fixed point in time also outwith the interstellar mobile signal they seem to have got going? the doc could just give her a buzz, couldn't he?

and really, if you're in 1928 and know all the stuff that Amy and Rory know... would publishing really be your chosen career? what about telegraph, phones, washing machines... the really great, profitable advances?

Tee2072 · 29/09/2012 21:17

And this is where Moffat falls down Aitch. All those questions and more.

My biggest being how the hell did Amy just go on knowing her daughter was out there somewhere but not knowing where or if she was alive or dead? Why didn't she rip the fucking universe apart looking for her?

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 29/09/2012 21:17

(i quite liked children of earth)

but tee, she had publishign contacts in 2012, not 1928 or whenever. i really didn't understand that bit.

Mrsjay · 29/09/2012 21:18

I guess RRiver and her cleavage can go where they like and they will grow old so maybe just happen to bump into her in 1949 or 'something' see Moffat just tries to squeeze it all in

SESthebrave · 29/09/2012 21:18

Just been catching up on the thread and all your comments.

For me, the angels were really scary and the flickering lightbulbs, cherubs, etc.

The first half of the episode was great but the second half just felt a bit rushed to fit it all in and I lost the emotion so no tears shed here.

Another one that agrees Moff needs longer (and more frequent!) episodes.

Oh and what was that non-trailer for the Christmas special?!

Tee2072 · 29/09/2012 21:18

I think they sent it to Amy before all this happened. Otherwise how could the doctor have it?

Although how she published without reading it is a huge plot hole. And a paradox because she didn't know what the Doctor was reading.
