DOCTOR WHO SERIES 7! 1st September...

I have been waiting for this for a very long time! :-)

So she escapes the spacesuit, after calling the president, and regenerates in an alley, with the homeless man.

Except...if the spacesuit was full of lifesupport, how did she survive outside of it?

Also, when we see her at the orphanage, she's white. So...did she escape the creepy stuck in the past orphanage while in the spacesuit? Then how are there pictures of her as a baby with Amy? Or even pictures of Amy?

Then she becomes Mel and is inserted into A&R's lives. Who were her parents? Who did she live with? Was she ever really there or was it just the memories of her inserted into their heads, a la Dawn on Buffy?

Then Mel regenerates into River and she's suddenly a killing machine. How did that happen? Who actually taught her to be one if she grew up with A&R?

Of course all of this can be explained with timey whimey space travel cop out stuff.

Finally, at what point was Amy replaced with a Ganga? Was it ever Amy until they are on the space station and we find out she's had a baby?

Oh and the biggest question of all:

What mother any where would just sit around and wait for the doctor or anyone else to find their stolen child. I know I'd be ripping the galaxy apart looking for her.

Had a look ate the Oswin Oswald link. Did you see the bit at the bottom about links to lee Harvey oswald and the fact she is an actress?? I would like to inject something intelligent to this discussion, but I can't. :o

It really was a load of rubbish. To the point that I really can't watch last series again and I am praying this one actually makes sense!!

1. baby melody is born and taken.

2. 9 year old-ish melody is in the spacesuit, little girls voice, help me mr president! is shot.

3. 9 year old melody regenerates in alleyway in the early 1970s into melody 2 - who could be any-melody. before she regens she says, 'it's OK. I've done this before'

4. Mels turns up in Ledworth as a child and grows up with Amy and Rory.

5. Mels is shot in hitlers office (you'd think she might be a little wary around guns by now...) and regenerates into wonderful River. 'helloooo Benjamin!'

6. River bunches up remaining regenerations and uses them on the doctor to resussitate him after her deadly lipstick has done its job.

now. there has to be a regen between baby melody and 9 year old melody-in-the-spacesuit as she's 'done it before'

there is NO WAY of knowing what happens between baby melody >regeneration(s)>>>9 year old melody>>regeneration(s)>>>Mels>River. all we know is that Mels rgenerates into River, we don't know how many regenerations River had left when she gave them to the doctor, given her recklessness around firearms and gung-ho nature, it could have been one.

Before she becomes Mels, I like to think she's dashing around somewhere being the rani meeting all the previous doctors and being exceptionally flirty with them all (except colin baker)

Where does she live? What age was she when she meets them? Who are her parents? Do Amy and Rory meet said parents?

Too many holes.

not necessarily holes... just stuff we aren't party to. i fill those holes with an off-screen version of events that sees an adult pre-Mels Melody someohow get herself to the Uk and then regenerate as a toddler mels to be adopted in Ledworth. Madame Kovarian, adoption broker....

I think that the bad people who did all this stuff would have arranged for her to be dropped off on someone's door step. In the time between all her regenerations she was trained into a Doctor killing machine. When Watch get around to showing this series I'm going to be watching with pen and paper to try and make some sense

But there's so many holes and so much stuff 'we aren't party too' that none of it makes sense in the end.

And Moff lied because he said it would all be explained. I don't mind deception. I mind lies.

The one thing I adored about DT's last season is that RTD explained everything in 10 minutes when Jack met up with them at Utopia.

Are we assuming therefore, that the young Melody we see regenerate in the alleyway, circa 1971ish, becomes an adult/another child hangs around for 10-15 years before travelling to the UK to regenerate into a young Mels?

As part Time Lord, River could be any age.

I've just caught up on the latest posts about Melody/River.

My brain hurts. So much.

I'm going to go and do something less complicated like explain Hawking's theories on the Big Bang to DS2 age 5.

Knowing Moffat and his Sherlock twists, etc, it's probably something really obvious that we've all missed. He's said that all of the Sherlock fans have missed a clue he planted about how Sherlock survives [brain explodes]

Don't live with my DH. He's sussed every Sherlock plot line from the start and its soooo frustrating. He did say how he survived - but I'm buggered if I can remember what he said now. He thinks Moffat is really predictable... he's an arse!

She'd pop back to Hartnell and he'd call her a very naughty girl. sigh

tell me about the scene in the university, i have NEVAH understood that.
where she says she's looking for a good man. and then kovarian captures her. surely at that point she's not River yet?

In Let's Kill Hitler, Melody says as starts to regenerate "Last time I did this I ended up a toddler, in the middle of New York" I would think that after she regenerated into a toddler, Mme Kovarian found her again (I'm sure she'd have ways to detect a regeneration) and took her to Leadworth to grow up with Rory and Amy.

Though the time is a bit odd, she regenerated six months after the moon landing, so early 1970 - that's a hell of a long time before she could have met Amy. Ok, Time lords don't necessarily age at the same rate as humans, but she must have seemed to age at the same rate as Amy and Rory after she met them, or they would have noticed! So there's about 20 years to account for if the regeneration we saw in New York was the same one Melody refers to in Let's Kill Hitler

oh yes, great, that's brilliant, thanks, had totally forgotten about half of that.

Doctor 10.5 was only part human and aged at the same rate as a human but is Melody full time lord or half? Did they say at Demons Run when they were looking at her DNA? We see a flash back in Kill Hitler of Melody at primary and senior school with Amy and then getting arrested so she must have aged along with them but River never seems to age.

I don't think she is even half Time Lord. She was conceived in the Time Vortex (hark at me remembering that ), but neither of her parents have any timey-wimey DNA, so at a guess she only got enough to be able to regenerate.

Thing is, we don't know how long in River's lifespan she "knows" the Doctor. We know she's in prison, but we don't know how long she is there before she dies. She has lots of adventures with him, some we see, most are only referred to. It's entirely possible that they happen over a short period in her life, say a couple of years, with her meeting up with the Doctor every couple of days in her time line. [brain explodes, again]

The university scene was after she was River. She regenerated, saved the Doctor by using up all her regenerations and woke up in hospital with the cat nurses. When Amy, Rory and the Doctor go into the TARDIS, Amy asks him about Melody/River and he says 'we have to leave her now to find her own way' (my son got the S6 box set for christmas- I've seen LKH A LOT of times!) so she recovers, and then spends her time looking for The Doctor by studying archaeology.

I wonder if River has been dotted about in different reginerations through out just to mess with us she is in a whole different timeline so she could be thousands of years old
