First time I've watched - how does it compare to OBEM?

GrannyRat · 14/08/2012 21:06

Pickles great minds!

lozario it follows the midwives and their jobs rather than the birth stories of families. Still good though, just different.

Sorry but... laughing my arse of at condoms too big!!!! Grin

Pickles77 · 14/08/2012 21:08

It's good.
I'm chuckling too Grin
Why would you miss your midwife appointments- how irresponsible. 1 maybe forgetful but not more than that!

GrannyRat · 14/08/2012 21:08

Me too! Would you admit that?! Grin

NervousAt20 · 14/08/2012 21:08

I've only watched once, I was put off abit, seems like there was alot of things going wrong and I'm 28w pregnant so thought I'd leave it alone for now

Lozario · 14/08/2012 21:08

I really shouldn't watch this. I'm a bit drunk and vair broody!!

TheCleaningLadyAtHQ · 14/08/2012 21:09

watching

Pickles77 · 14/08/2012 21:10

loz I'm you won't be when they show labour!
I'm 33 weeks- I shouldn't be watching!
But I want to do MW training so... Tis educational Grin

GrannyRat · 14/08/2012 21:11

My friend is a midwife at Arrowe Park and they took a vote as to whether to feature on the programme - the majority voted yes as the monetary contribution to the hospital was too tempting.

OP posts:
Pickles77 · 14/08/2012 21:12

So is your MW appearing? Smile

teaandthorazine · 14/08/2012 21:12

It's good to see stuff about homebirth on tv... let's just hope they don't try and turn it into a drama Hmm

GrannyRat · 14/08/2012 21:15

My friend said she voted no as she didnt want to apear on tv. She said every time she saw a camera, she'd duck down and run the other way! I havent seen any of the midwives who looked after me when i had my DCs.

Interesting comparison they are showing as to the two separate parts of the Wirral - all true through.

Lozario · 14/08/2012 21:15

Oooh pickles that sounds exciting (both preg and mw training). Are you going to have a home birth like this bird? Hadn't really considered they have to basically teach you how to deliver your own baby n case mw doesn't arrive in time - if I had another I'd want a home birth but would cack myself if I was without mw!!! plus DH would be useless

GrannyRat · 14/08/2012 21:16

He's a real charmer isn't he?!

OP posts:
Pickles77 · 14/08/2012 21:18

I think I'd hate to be on tv! It will be a long slog 3 uni years and a access course first! Also my baby labour might out me off yet!

I'm a hospital birth although I
would love too see my fathers face at a birthing pool in the lounge in front of channel four racing Grin

GrannyRat · 14/08/2012 21:19

Ooh Helen delivered my DS 9 years ago!!!!

OP posts:
Lozario · 14/08/2012 21:19

"I don't want it" Sad

Pickles77 · 14/08/2012 21:20

Wow that's cool granny!

That poor girl Sad

PatFenis · 14/08/2012 21:20

This is my local hospital too. 5 of my 6 DC were born there and 1 was born in an ambulance on Arrowe Park roundabout Grin

Lozario · 14/08/2012 21:22

It's so good that she's being honest about it though. Plus, I always hated being pregnant and nothing really kicked in with the baby until it was born. And I was with my OH for years beforehand, not just a month like she had been!

Oooh newborn Envy

Pickles77 · 14/08/2012 21:22

patfennis on the actual roundabout?

FrankelSaysRelax · 14/08/2012 21:22

Marking spot.

HomeEcoGnomist · 14/08/2012 21:23

'Contractions to be referred to as surges'
!!

Actually LOL at that one. Does that make it hurt less then?!
