I like it, so far. Feel like its abit like Homeland, in that the actress playing the wife looks too young.

Girls of 16 yo can be of the profile of the girl in the series, easily. BUT DM character was really really slow in picking it up. Bad writing. I'm a bloke and I was wincing from the start.

Rollergirl1 · 22/06/2012 23:02

I think he knew but was trying to avoid a scene and didn't want to exacerbate anything. I agree though that his wording in his flat when she first came on strong was quite ambiguous. But whatever he'd said would have made no difference.

Pan, have you ever been confronted by a 16 yr old girl desperate to make you commit an offence?

Pan · 22/06/2012 23:10

erm..not recently. why?

Rollergirl1 · 22/06/2012 23:18

Just wondering what you'd do, even though you'd picked up the signs, that was different?

Pan · 22/06/2012 23:26

Umm..it seemed odd.. the first circs re the ride to the 'view' was odd..and then have her come to the flat with Karen not there. Guessing? I'd just be clearer from the start and a bit more aware, I'd like to think. fwiw.

SoleSource · 22/06/2012 23:28

If a man/woman is in that situation with a old headed, sexualised or keen to be teenager. Just walk away and report it. Some people aren't strong enough to do that and thats wahen they get into trouble whether they have acted inappropriately or not.

Pan · 22/06/2012 23:58

Yes SS, but there are big signs and I think the poor script invited a poss. tension which should not have been there, unless DM was being really naive and was being utterly passive.

SoleSource · 23/06/2012 00:08

There are inappropriate vibes which are signs. He was naive. There seemed to be some chemistry when he held her hand.

Rollergirl1 · 23/06/2012 00:15

There were big signs. I think he was aware. But it was his daughters friend. I think he didn't want to hurt her feelings. When she came to the flat he should have made it more clear but he just wanted to get rid at that point.

TheNightWatch · 23/06/2012 01:23

Im just watching the last one. At least the soundtrack is better this time. I love A Different Corner. And, I love DM. I so would.

What a load of rubbish that was. Even though the acting was better for a silly unfinished story. So, was this pre or during Karen's lesbian affair? I hated it.

In the Jane Horrocks one is her daughters character deaf??

TheNightWatch · 23/06/2012 17:35

I assumed so. I feel like that was a waste of my viewing time!

My interest in the characters daughter being deaf is because my son goes to the school for deaf children in Margate.

TheNightWatch · 23/06/2012 21:17

thats interesting. I assumed the actress was. And she'd just gone off to university.

I liked the look of Margate.

Parts of it are lovely. Some parts are dreadful (imho) The towerblock that they used for the DM story is beyond hideous! It is the first thing you see as you arrive onto the seafront. In the nine years that Wilf has been at school there it has gone downhill. A huge shopping centre has opened outside the town and all the big shops have gone there. Margate has been awarded money from the Mary Portas thingy. I was told that there are roads that you dont walk down at night. I was out one night and walking back to my hotel and thought there was someone in a garden. It turned out to be a six foot Chinese teracotta warrior!!! Blush
