I like it, so far. Feel like its abit like Homeland, in that the actress playing the wife looks too young.

slartybartfast I thought exactly the same as you about the conversation with the workmate, would have been much more believable if it had been a woman.

I think the whole programme was really just too short to make it something you could "invest"yourself in.

Icelollycraving · 18/06/2012 12:52

Just watched it. Underwhelmed!
The things that irritated me are:
The workmate talking about it,do men do that kind of chat?!
The canoodling on the beach & going to a local hotel, not worried about being seen.
The wife knowing, feeling angst ridden & not giving him so much as a cold shoulder for longer than a second.
The mismatch of accents of the characters.
The sister turning up for that ridiculous chat. Do you know any women that would say any of that to a married man?

True love? I think not Hmm

kerstina · 18/06/2012 13:09

Really disappointed with this not least because I thought Billie Piper would be playing the ex !
Was waiting for it to get going and then it ended. Must start writing as am sure I could come up with something better than this rubbish Grin
Lets hope it gets better will give it another go tonight ....

SingingSands · 18/06/2012 13:18

I was really disappointed by this! Thought it looked great from the trailers.

Things that annoyed me:

The improvisation. Like another poster said, it needed a script to move it forward. Too many silent gazing at the sea scenes.

The colleague "having a chat". Cringey.

The fact that the sisters had totally different accents! One East End and one Manc/Northern - really?!

David Tenant's character was totally spineless and didn't seem "conflicted" at all - he jumped her bones as soon as he could and offered to run away with her. He was a bad liar too - all that raising eyebrows and saying "Noooo, Serena? Nooooo, really?". Rubbish.

The wife was really well played, I thought.

badtasteflump · 18/06/2012 13:46

Really disappointed too. Seemed less 'improv', more 'um I can't think of what to say' Hmm

There were so many scenes of the plot being spoonfed to us - the 'workmate' telling him he's not being himself, the little sister saying saying why her big sister was back - durh thanks for explaining that one Hmm

His character was ridiculous - was he happily married or was he not? Clearly not or he wouldn't have shagged his ex girlfriend after 13 years of happy marriage [hmm. Or at least he would have done it before 13 years had gone by, if he was that easily led....

And didn't see one jot of 'True Love'

Sorry about all the Hmming!

daenerysstormborn · 18/06/2012 21:01

thought it was a real let down, story just didn't add up. their kids seemed too old given the time frame.

daenerysstormborn · 18/06/2012 21:03

posted too soon, meant to add, joanne froggatt was good though.

TheNightWatch · 18/06/2012 21:37

It wasnt great, lots of gaps in the narrative and the dialogue was weak. But saved from being total shit by cast, I thought. I love Vicky McClure - so watchable. Looking forward to tonight's (Ashley Walters, yes please).

TheNightWatch · 18/06/2012 22:51

Are they all going to be about people shagging about, then?

OP posts:
LST · 18/06/2012 22:52

What a dick! [shocked]

TheNightWatch · 18/06/2012 22:53

the soundtrack is getting on my nerves.

OP posts:
Icelollycraving · 18/06/2012 22:54

So true love is basically about married men fucking someone whilst poor wifey knows but sits at home?

TheNightWatch · 18/06/2012 22:56

seems to be, so far. Its abit tedious.

IamtheZombie · 18/06/2012 22:56

So, last night's sister of the long lost love is tonight's wife about to be betrayed? Or am I hallucinating?

LeB0F · 18/06/2012 22:56

Ah yes, another bloke who drops his pants on a whim, cast as a tragic romantic soul. He is obviously going to get ripped off though- are we supposed to feel sorry for him?

MustControlFistOfDeath · 18/06/2012 22:56

Icelolly It appears that way. Bit of a let down really.

LST · 18/06/2012 22:56

He is a twat! A massive massive twat!

This is shite through and through!

LeB0F · 18/06/2012 22:57

(and that was the most unrealistic bar/club IN THE WORLD)

elastamum · 18/06/2012 22:58

Hated it. He got up my nose so much i just had to turn it off Angry

LST · 18/06/2012 22:58

I'd say a massive HAHA but I feel sorry for Stacey and his son Sad

(well aware it's a tv progBlush)

Icelollycraving · 18/06/2012 22:59

I wanted to be taken on a ridiculous gushy lovefest :(

LST · 18/06/2012 23:00

carernotasaint · 18/06/2012 23:01
