The all new Corrie thread NO SPOILERS PLEASE!

I remember in th'olden days when there were no spoilers. The nation had no idea whether Deidre would choose to stay with Ken or do a runner with Mike Baldwin until it was actually broadcast. And we didn't know who shot JR.

So for those of us with no life who enjoy Corrie without spoilers, a new thread discuss our beloved soap with all its flaws Grin

OP posts:
WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 10/06/2012 17:04

I've been posting fairly regularly so haven't needed to. Will try it now.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 10/06/2012 17:04

It's working OK for me.

oshuk · 10/06/2012 17:23

It worked this time! Devil computer.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 10/06/2012 19:20

Have seen it now. Loved Dev's fake tear.

Listmaker · 11/06/2012 14:24

Yes Dev was acting his typical hurt look and he is just crap and Sunita's annoying but it was well written I think in the way that when people are hiding affairs they deny things that are obvious and make the wronged person feel like they are going mad and for once that was pretty realistically done.

Usually in soapland affairs are discovered in a way that leaves no doubt and one look at the Relationships thread on here will show that in real life it ain't like that.......

And yes fully expecting pregnant Izzie next.......and Marcus and Maria fling/baby story......

Tommy and Tina are cute though!

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 11/06/2012 14:30

I think Tyrone and Kirstie have done the turning the blame onto the innocent party thing far better than Sunita and Dev. The scriptwriters could have made more of it by letting them have their showdown without the kids being upstairs so they could have really let rip, I guess that is why Dev wasn't shouty, also having Stella turn up was too contrived.

MrsGuyOfGisbourne · 11/06/2012 15:47

Maybe the scriptwrited realised the actors woldn;t be up to ain intense or prologed scene and so had to have the kids upstairs/Stella turning up to limit the amount of time and scope those actors had

GnocchiNineDoors · 11/06/2012 20:20

I feel really sorry for Simon in that his birth mother is not given any mention....even Peter says "his parent's marriage has broken up"

SleepyFergus · 11/06/2012 22:05

Reckon we were wrong about Carla being preggers....lots of full length shots wearing tight belt.

Wee Simon the actor is good isn't he?

Sunita is barking!!

GnocchiNineDoors · 11/06/2012 22:07

She'llbe boiling Carl's rabbits before we know it.

TheNightWatch · 11/06/2012 23:35

Amazing how quickly and nasty he got.

Leanne is getting right on my nerves now. Is she going to get back off with Nick do you think?

Wingedharpy · 12/06/2012 00:45

I agree Sleepy. The young lad who plays Simon is a real star. Corrie seem to do well getting young actors for these parts. The lad who played David Platt as a youngster was very good - not quite as rivetting now he's an adult but he was very good as a tot.

ajandjjmum · 12/06/2012 08:06

Agree about Leanne - she's coming over as a fishwife at the moment - such a shame.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 12/06/2012 08:08

Last nights episode was daft. The Maria thing is such a lazy storyline and the Dev/ Sunita thing is not working. Think you may be right about the Gary/ Izzy baby due to the hairdresser storyline.

SleepyFergus · 12/06/2012 09:26

Yeah, not exactly subtle are they re Gary and Izzie!! Ha ha, Corrie scriptwriters, we already guessed!

Honestly, I couldn't care less about Dev and Sunita/Carl story. Such dull people. Actually starting to warm to Stella though....eek, can't believe I said that!

I kinda hope Nick and Leanne get back together, but totally agree re Leanne being fishwifey at the mo.

As for Maria/Marcus story - sheesh, just wrong. So contrived it's unbelievable....

SleepyFergus · 12/06/2012 09:26

My '--' didn't work Sad

TheScottishPlayer · 12/06/2012 12:19

Completely agree about Leanne being a PITA. All that stuff last night in front of Simon - completely inappropriate for her to be speaking about his dad in that way. Having a go at Peter and Carla for having drink in the house was a bit ridiculous too given that she wants him to go and live with her in a pub...

It certainly seems like they're building up to a Nick and Leanne storyline again - how many times have they done that over the years...?

TheNightWatch · 12/06/2012 12:27

Well, that at least, does happen in real life. I think they could work out as Nick has completely changed. I really cant stand Leanne.

I told you all to stop starting rumours re Carla being pregnant Smile Im still amazed by her eyebrows. Do you think she has had any tweaking?

Im also warming to stella and, its nice to see Michelle Collins aging gracefully.

I do wish someone down that street would get a proper career going. All those young people wasting away in menial jobs. I hate the lack of ambition in soaps!!

TheScottishPlayer · 12/06/2012 20:06

Good point re: parents behaving like that in front of the child. It did erode some of my sympathy for her situation though.

Stella is definitely growing on me too.

Clawdy · 12/06/2012 21:31

I felt quite unreasonably pleased when Carl turned on Sunita.First time I've warmed to him Smile

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 13/06/2012 00:07

I watched it late last night on Sky+, then started flicking channels, when I came across Taggart. Starring "Karl". He is SO much more attractive when a) using a Scottish accent b) dressing smartly c) actually seeming to have a bit of commonsense and d) having the ladies fall for him left right and centre, not just a desperate barmaid.

Re the proper careers, the problem is, in order to get one they have to go off to university, which the producers just use as vehicle for writing them out, eg Michelles' son. They only come back if they get kicked out, eg Amber. Then there's Kirsty, who just threw away a professional career.

SleepyFergus · 13/06/2012 02:39

I used to quite fancy 'Carl' when he was in Taggart.....portrays quite a diff character in Corrie!

I think Michelle's son Is coming back soon so I wonder if that means he's dropped out as it can only have been 2 years top he's been out of it? What fid he go to do....wasn't it music or something? Perhaps he's in a band now!! Hope to god its a different actor with decent hair this time round!

whatkungfuthat · 13/06/2012 07:24

TNW I recognise you now! Grin

TheNightWatch · 13/06/2012 08:22

Of course you do!!! I post on exactly the same threads but I felt it was time for a change.

whatkungfuthat · 13/06/2012 09:24

I was wondering where you were but the bit upthread about the ex's singing and the comment about Carla's eyebrows gave it away.

I do still feel a bit sorry for Leanne even though she is annoying. Carla took her man, her home and her little boy and she was TTC. I hope she gets back with Nick and gets pg.
