The all new Corrie thread NO SPOILERS PLEASE!

PoorAudreyHorseface · 05/05/2012 11:28

I remember in th'olden days when there were no spoilers. The nation had no idea whether Deidre would choose to stay with Ken or do a runner with Mike Baldwin until it was actually broadcast. And we didn't know who shot JR.

So for those of us with no life who enjoy Corrie without spoilers, a new thread discuss our beloved soap with all its flaws Grin

Did anyone else pick up on Norris' comment about Mary being royalist and curmudgeonly? There was a thread on here with those exact words in!
Nerve-wracking with the drug thing too.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 04/06/2012 22:21

No I didn't! Will have to watch again!
Why was Carl dressed as Fred West

BettyTurnip · 04/06/2012 22:30

Fred West doing Tom Jones.

Bagsy I get Jason if no-one else fancies him. An oversight surely?!

KenDoddsDadsDog · 04/06/2012 22:31

Jason is fit, even in an Elvis suit

oshuk · 04/06/2012 23:26

Sorry meant Republican NOT Royalist!!! doh

oshuk · 04/06/2012 23:27

I don't think 'The Osmonds' looked remotely like the real thing. And they didn't deserve to win. Anyone agree? oshuk needs to get a life

oshuk · 04/06/2012 23:28

damn!

MurielTheActor · 04/06/2012 23:30

That is one street party I'd have loved to go to Grin

Iwantacampervan · 05/06/2012 11:33

A good street party brings all the characters we haven't seen for months out of hibernation (!) apart from Deirdre, where was she ?

Nancy66 · 05/06/2012 11:47

think producers are definitely building something with Maria and Marcus....wonder if she'll turn him?

SleepyFergus · 05/06/2012 12:09

I agree re Maria/ Marcus. Bit improbable though....but hey, tis soap land!

Gingefringe · 05/06/2012 13:47

Stella was a great Dusty Springfield. The daughter's Madonna outfit was a bit um, tight slutty though - my husband's eyes nearly popped out of his head!

MrsGuyOfGisbourne · 05/06/2012 15:33

Yes, re where was Deirdre, especially since Ken was the best man of Dennis. (btw Did anyone see the forst ever epsiode of Corrie - I don;t mean when it was first shown Grin but have seen it it recently for eg 50th annivarary of the Street, and see to rememeber that the young Ken took some stick in it from the young Dennis Tanner - am I imagining that?)
Aldo, what do they do with their kids? They seem to conveneinety be asnet when they are not needed for a a storyline...

LeeCoakley · 05/06/2012 16:31

Yes, where was Deirdre? Very odd. Also Roy mentioned his mother who l thought had left the street with the Man from U.N.C.L.E (I missed some weeks a while back). I'm glad she's still around albeit not in the script at the moment. The canal thing was ridiculous but I like the way Tina stood up to him. And has Dennis been unfaithful? Sometimes I miss an episode if they are on at odd times. Sunita and Carl MUST have been spotted when she let him out of the shop especially as he could have just escaped out of a back window. Hopefully someone wil rat them out now. Stella as Dusty - lovely! She should have won.

TheNightWatch · 05/06/2012 18:23

Ive got a feeling she has played Dusty in a show before. I dont know if it was a musical but I definitely have seen Michelle Collins being Dusty.

Lozario · 05/06/2012 20:07

Sunita let Carl out of the shop at the exact same time as the ENTIRE street sat down for dinner Hmm

TheNightWatch · 05/06/2012 20:09

Can anyone tell me what happened in the second half asy planner clashed? Thanks.

SleepyFergus · 05/06/2012 22:30

Trying to remember but basically....

Rick turned up at the garage and bumped into Rita, he told her that Tina had arranged for him to take Rita to the reg office. Instead he takes her to the canal when Tina is. Tina threatens to dump drugs in the canal and he threatens to shove Rita in so it's a bit of a stalemate. Eventually Tina gives in and gives him the drugs on exchange for Rita. All this faffing about though has given the police a chance to turn up (turns out Tina contacted Kirsty who must have contacted the police) and they arrest Rick red handed.

Police then drive Rita and Tina (both have had miraculous hair and make up tarted up en route) to reg office and Rita marries Dennis.

Meanwhile street party is in full swing. Fay wins top raffle prize of romantic spa break on 5 star hotel which she gives to Anna and Owen, who get back together (Awh!)

Sunita and Carl almost get caught in shop up to no good which leaves Carl locked in for most of the afternoon. Sunita eventually let's him out, seemingly in front of just about everyone?? They agree that was too close for comfort and want to arrange a night away somewhere.

Silly hoo hah over hot pits needing to be cooked, and Nick and Stella agree that Seam should go back to working in Rovers along with his 'cursed' hot pot recipe.

Dennis and Rita turn up at the end, and a jolly hot pot knees up commences.

Tina tells Tommy she loves him but she can't trust him - it's over. Sob!

Think that's basically it - if I've missed anything I'm sure someone else can fill in!!

WhoKnowsWhereHerMajestyGoes · 05/06/2012 22:39

Haven't watched the second one yet, sounds like I will get cross with just about all of them! Especially Anna. If she was on MN people would be telling her to run, run as fast as she can from the child beating, emotional abuser control freak Owen.

Got into one of those conversations with DH that I was saying about the other day during the first one, he walked in to the room just as Rick was about to whisk Rita away.

DH - Who's that?

Me - The gangster that Tommy and Tina have got into trouble with
DH - Who's Tina?
Me - hits head with hand you know, the pretty young one with long dark hair
DH - How long has she been in it?
Me - Get out!

LeeCoakley · 05/06/2012 22:46

They need to ditch the hot pot thing now - BORING!!! And they must have all been stone cold or the Rovers has the biggest oven in the entire world.

WhoKnowsWhereHerMajestyGoes · 06/06/2012 08:41

Watched it before I went to bed. Well done Tina, even if it was all highly improbable. I agree about the hotpot, hopefully that's the end of that story now.

TheScottishPlayer · 06/06/2012 12:40

It wasn't just me that noticed Rita and Tina's amazing hair and make up transformation (especially Tina's - there's no way she could have concoted that up do in the back of a speedy police car.

I'm sure that Dennis mentioned Rita was already 10 mins late as she arrived at the canal with dodgy loan shark man. So all that stuff at the canal took place, Tina got her hair done and they got to the registry office before they lost their slot...

I thought that they way Kirsty helped Tina out was the scriptwriters way to put a line under her being a baddy and complete a transformation to goody (in the way that all nightmare new characters become acceptable).

MrsGuyOfGisbourne · 06/06/2012 12:57

Agree about the hair! (Tina's style was fabulous & would suit Process Kate better than it all rambling down her back)

ajandjjmum · 06/06/2012 18:09

Process Kate - like Process Peas Grin - sorry MrsGuy - made me smile. You're right though.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 06/06/2012 21:38

Do you think Carl and Sunita will get caught? Where is Owen and Debbie's spa weekend?
