Is Homeland Great or What?!

Just watched part 2 of Homeland shown on Channel 4 last night.

Fantastic drama with an excellent script, superb acting and lots of twists and turns.

Has he been brainwashed????

The Carrie/Brody thing was just yuck, but what I don't understand is why she told him that about what to expect in the polygraph test - did it just slip out because she was drunk? Or did she have a reason for doing that?

Feel that she has put herself in a very vulnerable position and the whole powerbalance has shifted - he has something to hold over her now. Again, yuck, yuck.

Also, why on earth would they try to kill the couple in those two stupid ways? What's so wrong with a reliable bullet through the head? Was all a bit, "Mr Bond we have been expecting you." for my liking.

Totally gripping though.

last night's ep should have been called "As Fucking If"

I think it's got silly/ier. Mind you I will continue to watch, to observe Damian Lewis closely. I believe he has a slightly misaligned jaw, as have I. This could lead to a disorder of the jaw joint, being painful and debilitating

If he requires any chops massage tips, I will happily oblige

I thought she had a reason but it turned out just to give him time to prepare for it.So I presume she was really drunk rather than just pretending as I first thought .

I originally thought that she was going to "play drunk" to put him at his ease and then wheedle some information out of him but then, actually, I think she just got pissed.

I wonder if her "mood disorder" is bipolar - in which case, I think some sufferers can behave in reckless and promiscuous ways at times which maybe explains how she came to have drunken spontaneous sex with Brody in the car. They've clearly got something going on between them - the chemistry was apparent from that encounter at the veterans support meeting.

Very odd though - as the next day she was watching his polygraph test (I THINK) willing him to spike over the question about the blade. I guess he has trained himself or been trained to stop his heart-rate (or whatever it is that the machine measures) from reacting when he tells a lie since we KNOW (as Carrie does) that he has cheated on his wife.

Hmmm... Apart from this, I don't feel an awful lot happened last night.

I still mistrust Saul and Estes and am already looking forward to next week.

PS I just don't like Mike. I don't think he's a "bad guy" (although, let's face it - the bad guys are going to be the ones we least suspect!) but I just don't warm to him or Brody's wife.

Why was Saul spiking like billy-o the first time he took the test? What has he been in recently, was it Damages?

I do not get why she shagged him at all. Did the woman set it up so that her husband got shot in the hotel?

He was spiking bcause he was stressed- but I reckon he did slip him the razor blade, and is tipping the couple off about the CIA activity.

why do they put so much emphasis on the polygraph anyway?

Saul was Barbra Streisands boyf in Yentl, iirc

I think she did get pissed and lost control. The "cheating on your wife" question came after he'd passed the polygraph, didn't seem to me like she'd planned to ask.

I still wonder though if she meant to tell him about the polygraph. She could have planned it thinking he'd then have all night to worry and that would make him more stressed and therefore less able to lie.

Think Saul's spiking was a red herring. Then again, I don't think he's a baddie.

If you ignore the implausible aspects (after all, it's American TV) I think it's a great series. I think I like that kind of programme as my days can be quite mundane so I can indulge in some CIA escapism.

I was wondering if Carrie aimed to get some secrets out of Brody informally by chatting to him in the bar or more likely that the reckless behaviour is due to her bipolar disorder. DH reckons Estes is the mole but perhaps it is Saul due to the spiking on the lie detector - or this is just meant to add to the ambiguity.

Can someone explain Carrie going to the veterans support meeting to me - is she ex-army?? If so I completely missed that detail.

DH doesn't trust Saul either but I think he's 100% goody. I thought the only reason the polygraph was mucking about the first time was because he was so stressed. He was in a series called Chicago Hope in the 90s.

Poor Faisal :( All the ones I like get shot through the heart. Does Aileen has anything to do with actual Islamic terrorism? I'm thinking not. There's some other reason she's implicated in the money laundering thing.
