Just watched part 2 of Homeland shown on Channel 4 last night.

Fantastic drama with an excellent script, superb acting and lots of twists and turns.

Has he been brainwashed????

Is it just me or did that episode end really abruptly and weirdly?

Bue · 15/04/2012 22:22

I think they must have let the hair start pretty darn soon after he came out. There were a couple years worth of growth there. Actually I was kind of loving the slightly longer, grown out hair he had when Issa died!

Terrible as it was, I'm also not sure that his love for Issa would really turn him against his country. I can see the anger at the VP's lies, but seriously, becoming a terrorist over it?

Hassled · 15/04/2012 22:28

I dunno re the level of motivation - yes, maybe Issa's death on its own wasn't enough, but then Issa represented his own kids maybe? Plus he'd converted, and the only form of Islam he would have been exposed to woudl have been jihadist.

Cybbo - DS2 shares your theory. He reckons Brodie is a complicated double agent and only Saul and the other one (David?) know and that's why they've been less than supportive to Carrie's madness, in stark contrast to the level of support etc re finding Walker, because Walker really has turned.

difficultpickle · 15/04/2012 22:33

He was obviously very close to Issa and I wonder if Issa was a similar age to Brody's own son? Could be enough.

iloveACK · 15/04/2012 22:35

Does anyone reckon Carrie's partner is dodgy? I think he could be the CIA mole??

difficultpickle · 15/04/2012 22:37

Do you mean Saul? He's definitely dodgy.

Hassled · 15/04/2012 22:39

I did think Saul was dodgy - less so now. I think I might love him a little bit.

I think iloveACK (who is ACK?) means the guy doing the chauffering tonight, the one who said he was muslim.

difficultpickle · 15/04/2012 22:41

Was he the one who was on the roof the other week?

Hassled · 15/04/2012 22:43

I think roof guy was younger and slimmer? Oh I'm so CONFUSED.

iloveACK · 15/04/2012 22:45

Yes, I meant the chauffeur partner. Her boss asked him to keep an eye on her a few weeks ago & I thought he was a bit suspect then, but tonight moreso!

(ACK is Nantucket - well airport code but I love the island rather than simply the airport Grin)

difficultpickle · 15/04/2012 22:50

I'm thinking I need to watch it on C4 and then again on C4+1 as I'm clearly struggling to keep up!

LaGrenouille · 15/04/2012 22:54

Well, the gospel according to DP is that now he is no longer teaching the boy, he was slung back in prison.

ps we have seen all of them now!

BrightnessFalls · 15/04/2012 23:01

In the papers it said tonight's is wrapping it up nicely. Does that mean its nearly finished?

difficultpickle · 15/04/2012 23:03

3 more episodes this series, series 2 starting in the US in Sept.

swanthingafteranother · 15/04/2012 23:19

but there was something strange about Nazir entrusting his son to him. Could that be the clue...that although Brody was completely trustworthy, Nazir couldn't have known that for sure, and the mere fact that he could think to leave his son with him, means that he is utterly ruthless and was using son as a pawn in the game...or that the son wasn't his son at all. Remember how son was scared of father, but loved Brody. Maybe Brody was the first person to be nice to him. Whole bit about children being planted by terrorists could actually be true.
Also explains why Brody, despite being brainwashed, finds it so easy to get on with his son when he returns.

Also pretty well confirms that Brody is GOOD, KIND, MORAL person.

Yorkshiremother79 · 15/04/2012 23:36

I'm as sure as sure can be that Brody is a goody.

iloveACK · 16/04/2012 08:09

I hope so Yorkshiremother79 Grin

fedupofnamechanging · 16/04/2012 08:41

Am late to this thread, but wanted to say that if you watch it on 4OD, you get fewer ad breaks.

Have not seen the last episode yet, but does anyone else think that Walker's wife's new dh, is maybe a plant - he got together with Mrs W in order to look after her and the son. I think she doesn't know. Have missed and episode so maybe it's been explained, but we haven't seen any interaction between MrsW and her new dh - I think I'd be worried shitless about what to do if I had though my dh was dead, remarried and then he turned up again. Who is she legally married to?

Can you imagine being married to a man and his 'dead' wife suddenly shows up? I'd like to know more about that couple.

cocolepew · 16/04/2012 09:09

I think Brody is a double agent too.

I'm a little bit in love withSaulas well, so I've decided he has to be good.

Don't break my heart Saul.

The boy playing Issa is beautiful.

Yorkshiremother79 · 16/04/2012 09:11

I thought that too about the boy playing Issa - no doubt chosen on purpose to tug the heart strings more when that happened to him. I cried Sad

IShallWearMidnight · 16/04/2012 09:11

did anyone else see a resemblance between Issa and Mrs B? Same face shape and big eyes I thought. Maybe that's why Brody was so emotionally ivolved with Issa?

CointreauVersial · 16/04/2012 11:00

Aargh, this thread has given me all sorts of alternative theories!

I didn't think about the muslim chap Carrie was driving around with until I read this, but maybe he's up to no good. He's definitely well under the radar if it is him. I did wonder what happened to the "follow Carrie, see what she's up to" storyline, which didn't really resolve.

And maybe Issa wasn't Abu Nazir's son after all!!! It did seem odd that he didn't seem that fussed when he died, whereas Brodie was really upset.

Still a teeny bit suspicious about Saul, but don't want to believe it.

Oooh, this is unmissable telly watching!

noddyholder · 16/04/2012 11:02

Even my 17yr old ds was blown away by the beautiful little boys big eyes

noddyholder · 16/04/2012 11:02

I would like saul to read to me at bedtime

BrightnessFalls · 16/04/2012 11:29

Sadly, we knew Issa's fate the minute we clapped eyes on him, surely? Same with the poor bloke in the woods Smile

I take it series 2 is going to be about him being a senator? I dont think that appeals to me so much.
