Is anyone else addicted to Pointless?

I'm horridly addicted to Pointless. I have it on series link and watch it at night whenever DH is away. I desperately want to be on the show, I even applied. Am I a sad git?

Yey do I win something notpodd Grin

He does make a good pointless friend though.

WhispersOfWickedness · 21/02/2012 14:46

I love pointless too!!! Is it a new series on at the moment or repeats?
I have 'won' the final question 3 times Grin

notpodd · 21/02/2012 14:56

but of course 2ombie5layer - you win our coveted pointless trophy!

Whispers I've also "won" 3 times, always with music questions

I 'win' with the obscure politician questions.

Richard would fall for me, I'm sure of it. Grin

mollymawk · 21/02/2012 15:02

I too am a Pointless fan. DH and I even went to see it being recorded a few weeks ago (like squirrel up-thread). Quite Interestingly, Richard is really really tall. Either that or Alexander is really really short.

LittleStranger · 21/02/2012 15:02

I saw the Richard character out shopping recently and said 'hi' without thinking, as thought I knew him but couldn't place him. He smiled very nicely and said hello back, which was as far as our conversation ever got.
Strangely, the same thing had happened to me with Susie Dent about 10 years earlier. Which other quiz show sidekicks do I need to bump into to complete the set??

LittleStranger · 21/02/2012 15:08

Molly, can confirm he is indeed really really tall.

CaurnieBred · 21/02/2012 15:11

DD aged 7 is totally addicted to this too!

Enraha · 21/02/2012 15:17

Additional Richard fact: his brother is a member of Suede!

2ombie5layer · 21/02/2012 15:42

yey I only want the PL (its what me and DH call it) trophy. If we went on and won the money would just be a bonus Grin

LineRunner · 21/02/2012 15:45

Quiz show sidekicks for LittleStranger:

hocuspontas · 21/02/2012 15:54

I love it! I have the whole family hooked now. Although it was annoying trying to explain the rules to DP, it took the whole programme. I can't believe I missed the US capitals! When I dream I'm on there, that's one category I imagine myself amazing Richard with. Grin Other ones I imagine in my dream sequence are countries and capitals of the world, the middle names of American presidents and wives of English kings. Alexander is also amazed by my extensive knowledge.

BigBadBear · 21/02/2012 16:02

I love it and have done since the beginning. My favourite is when they talk about the Pointless trophy, or indeed Pointless Celebrities. Makes me laugh out loud every time.

LineRunner · 21/02/2012 16:05

I also like the fact that the prize money is really quite low (relatively speaking). Much better than Tarrant and Edmonds banging about 'life changing money' and 'quarter millionnaires' (yuck).

NorfolkNChance · 21/02/2012 16:20

I adore Pointless!

One thing though, isn't the Pointless trophy well... rather pointy? Surely a sphere would have been better

WhispersOfWickedness · 21/02/2012 16:39

One of my wins was a music question (bon jovi top 40 singles Blush) one I can't remember and one was Asterix books. That one was hilarious as the couple had clearly never heard of Asterix, and Xander and Richard were clearly trying really hard to be nice and not laugh and point at their ridiculous answers Grin

LineRunner · 21/02/2012 16:43

One of my wins was Reginald Maudling (Homne Secretaries) - I remembered it from the Monty Python sketch. Smile

Yes it's wonderful when people have to guess answers when the final cetagory is awful, like top ten hits of Beyonce for a couple of old gimmers.

FoofFighter · 21/02/2012 16:58

Am I the only one who doesn't like that they've fiddled with the format a bit?

If it ain't broke etc...!

I got a Pointless answer on the John Cusack round [puffs up chest]

Ponders · 21/02/2012 17:01

oh I love it when people make stuff up

there was a fab one recently - members of Pink Floyd? Somebody made one up, which was obviously a BIG RED X, & while Alexander was smirking (nicely) about it, Richard said "good answer, that person was actually in Genesis" & Alexander very nearly fell for it Grin

Ponders · 21/02/2012 17:03

no you're not, Foof

they have made it easier Hmm

(mind you I think UC is easier now than it used to be - there are usually only about 4 questions per programme now which make me go "WTAF?" & it used to be about half of them)

Ponders · 21/02/2012 17:03

(I can't bring myself to call him Xander as we haven't been introduced Wink)

DilysPrice · 21/02/2012 17:22

I remember the Asterix one. I was torn between triumph that I aced it and cringing for the poor contestants.

MildlyNarkyPuffin · 21/02/2012 17:26

I covet the pointless trophy.

LineRunner · 21/02/2012 17:33

I'm doing the poets' first names round right now. I know them all! (But they're easy.)

hocuspontas · 21/02/2012 17:38

I thought I knew them all but I was shouting Walter! Walter! for Swinbourne and dd2 thought it was hilarious when it came up as Algernon Grin
