Is anyone else addicted to Pointless?

I'm horridly addicted to Pointless. I have it on series link and watch it at night whenever DH is away. I desperately want to be on the show, I even applied. Am I a sad git?

Who do you fancy most then slarty?

I'm thinking Richard for a deep and meaningful relationship but AA for fun and possibly jet-set parties.

Squirrelface · 21/02/2012 18:49

Some Pointless Celebrity Specials have been recorded, to be shown on Saturday evenings in the Spring. (Richard Osman was talking about them on Twitter). Richard's Twitter is quite amusing, if you like that kind of thing, with occasional quizzes and a recent World Cup of Chocolate competition (soon to be followed by a World Cup of Crisps).

mollymawk · 21/02/2012 19:02

Have to agree with you there, hocuspontas - wonderful though Pointless is, I would put Only Connect higher.

notpodd · 21/02/2012 19:08

but it doesn't have the bromance factor. I do like the connecty board thing though.

Ooh I am a pointless lover too, as is my 18 month old ds. We've been watching it since he was tiny and he gets really excited and claps loads. I like telling dh tales of people's stupidity, some answers have depressingly low scores

LineRunner · 21/02/2012 19:25

Actually notpodd, I don't Corrie's on tonight. I am a rubbish telly addict.

2ombie5layer · 21/02/2012 19:28

Whats only connect?

Ive just finished watching pointless. Have been avoiding this thread for the past 45 mins so I didnt spoil it for myself Grin

I wouldnt have won, but I got rosebush

LineRunner · 21/02/2012 19:29

Only Connect is on BBC 4 (?) with Victoria Coren and two teams of geeks and it's fiendishly clever but quite fun.

2ombie5layer · 21/02/2012 19:33

Might look that one up. Never heard of it.

Ponders · 21/02/2012 19:39

Victoria Coren is AA's sister-in-law-in-law, is that right? Giles Coren is married to AA's wife's sister? There was a bit of banter about that in one programme

LineRunner · 21/02/2012 19:40

Oooh. And she's stepping out with the lovely David Mitchell.

Ponders · 21/02/2012 19:44

\link{http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/health-and-families/features/mbt-shoes-do-they-actually-work-857532.html\Esther Walker (Mrs Coren) mentions Hannah Snow (Mrs Armstrong)} - why do they have different names?

& yes, about D Mitchell - imagine their dinner parties Envy

easylife73 · 21/02/2012 19:46

Can't believe I'm the first person to say this, but....

...we were given the board game for Christmas. Nearly caused World War 3 trying to explain to the parents, my sister & BIL how to play it.

Ponders · 21/02/2012 19:48

well the board game has been mentioned, but not your WW3 Wink

(it is incredibly difficult to explain. I only watched it spasmodically to begin with, & shortly after each time I couldn't even explain it to myself Confused)

SherlockHolmes · 21/02/2012 19:50

Yes I am! I haven't heard one of Simon Mayo's Confessions since DH got me into it. I watch it every night while cooking; I even shut the door so I can hear it properly over the sounds of the children killing each other playing.

Eglu · 21/02/2012 20:02

I love Pointless. I'm so addicted that when the theme tune comes on DD (8 mths) turns to the tv and smiles.

LineRunner · 21/02/2012 20:08

Sherlock, yes since it was moved to BBC1 at 5.15pm, it's become a lovely cooking-along-to programme.

I made spag bol and pancakes today whilst shouting out the first names of poets.

You don't get much better than that if you're as fucking sad as me.

LottieJenkins · 21/02/2012 20:14

I got a pointless recently for England goalies! I knew Richard Wright. (Ipswich goalie too) I met him with Wilf a while ago when he was on crutches on the ice. I told Wilf in hushed tones who he was and Wilf told him very loudly that he supported Chelsea!!! Blush Grin

notpodd · 21/02/2012 20:42

Eglu My 17 MO applauds when someone gets a pointless, and the older kids go "whooooooooooo" as the line goes down, and go ping as it goes through the red line not that its one around the kids all the time or anything

LineRunner · 21/02/2012 20:46

It's just that old-fashioned feel-good notion about it, where everyone's a good sport and they all get a 2nd chance to get to the final 'next time' and the host and bro-host take it seriously but are witty and kind.

Smile
notpodd · 21/02/2012 20:50

Well said LineRunner

OP posts:
LineRunner · 21/02/2012 20:52

( notpodd, tweet this to Richard and tell him we need to get on the show.)

notpodd · 21/02/2012 20:56

what a good idea - I'm on it

OP posts:
LineRunner · 21/02/2012 21:00

I have pointless knowledge in the areas of

politicians
poetry
caves
aspects of the classical world
American crime novels
The Comic Strip

notpodd · 21/02/2012 21:07

Excellent - we will be a killer combo, I have knowledge on biology and the natural world, music (all varieties), films and actors, cricket and rugby, children's television and ballet.

I should mention a large gapping hole in my knowledge however, due to the fact that I lived in South African for 20 years. But I'm great at African geography as a result!
