My eyelashes are much lighter than my hair... I had no idea that was unsual.

OnlyANinja · 09/01/2012 13:36

Actually most eyelashes start out darker nearer the roots then get light at the ends, but I still think that on average the bit of eyelash that you see is darker than hair.

Maybe I'm talking bollocks.

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 09/01/2012 13:37

OnlyaNinja, I still would, even with the ginger tache!

5Foot5 · 09/01/2012 13:40

I have seen all the Sherlocks and this was my favourite so far. I much preferred it to last week when it seemed too convoluted and drawn out - first she was dead, then she wasn't, then she was etc. And I didn't like the hint that Sherlock fancied her - that didn't ring true at all.

But last night's was great. Gripping, scary, funny. Loved it

CrotchFlakes · 09/01/2012 13:40

Oh the Henry guy was rubbish. As was the Casualty guy, but he's always the same in whatever he's in Grin

purpleprudence · 09/01/2012 14:12

I do wish he wouldn't talk so quickly , I have to have the subtitles on . I did enjoy seeing that nice Clive Mantle again , I used to swoon over him on Casualty The beast looked really unlifelike and unscary but I think they've gone for a bit of recycling , as I'm sure its the beast from a previous Sherlock .

Bossybritches22 · 09/01/2012 14:14

Aww I thought the Hnery character was quite believably a tortured soul....albeit a bit wooden.

Loved Watson getting distracted by the doggers

Had to explain to the DD's what dogging was!! Blush

recall · 09/01/2012 14:16

I think the chemistry between them is magic, very convincing and very entertaining.

recall · 09/01/2012 14:17

Doh !! I only just got the pun when I read your post bossybritches what a berk Blush

Bossybritches22 · 09/01/2012 14:39

recall Grin only got it myself after I was laughing at the penny dropping with Watson & explaining what the cars were doing to my DD's!!

The "morse code" bit I only twigged later......

LeBOF · 09/01/2012 14:57

Tell me about the Morse code, pleeeease!

I got the dogging reference, and I noticed the cell phone thing too. The baddie reminded me a bit if the evil locals from Hot Fuzz Grin

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 09/01/2012 15:09

LeBOF, the 'Morse code' John spotted was actually one or maybe both of the people shagging in the car, rhythmically hitting the light indicator as they, um, performed. Grin

Think someone has said this upthread but can't find it now ? sorry if I'm repeating things.

Raahh · 09/01/2012 15:10

I got the cell phone bit straight away, as it stood out a mile in a 'British' drama. Didn't get any of the other bits- but really enjoyed it. Apart from Russell Tovey who had a terrible accent, and annoyed me everytime he spoke (which is not good, as he was the victim, and I was supposed to care about him, and didn't!). 'Hound' has been adapted for tv/film so many times, was a clever version. But the animatronic dog was crap- looked like an aligator.

Think the 'Morse' Code pun was a play on 'Moors' code? (the flashing lights being code between doggers on Dartmoor, perhapsWink)

OnlyANinja · 09/01/2012 15:11

Yep - Chekov's Cellphone, definitely.

LeBOF · 09/01/2012 15:12

Aha! I had missed that, thanks Smile

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 09/01/2012 15:22

I read somewhere else (again, if it's here and I just can't find it, apologies!) that the dog was meant to be crap as none of them really saw it ? they were all being affected by the drugged fog and just saw what they expected to see. I'm not entirely sure, though, why they all imagined seeing a rubbish animatronic dog, unless they'd all privately come to the wrong conclusion that someone from the lab had created it.

Raahh · 09/01/2012 15:36

OnlyANinja- I love that article- it's like watching Doctor Who with a die hard fan- EVERYTHING has to to have some significance, or else why botherGrin
my favourite is

? Not So Small Role: Character #23 is played by who? They'd never have signed on for so small a role!

(This particular rule in drama occurs a lot in Midsomer Murders, I findGrin)

TeamDamon · 09/01/2012 16:10

Loved this episode because I love the way the writers and actors are developing the Holmes/Watson relationship - just so brilliantly portrayed.

Particular highlights:

-the cheekbones/long coat reference.

-meeting Lestrade in the pub:
Sherlock:Is that why you're calling yourself Greg?
Watson: It's his name.
Sherlock: Is it?

  • Sherlock standing on the rock looking all broody and windswept.
  • Sherlock trying to make it up with John (OK, before it all turned out to be a ruse to spike his coffee with the sugar).
  • John taking control in Baskerville to make the Corporal show them round.

Particular lowlights:

  • the extraordinarily rubbish Russell Tovey.
Chubfuddler · 09/01/2012 16:41

Poor Russell Tovey I thought he was rather good. Dcs woke at a crucial part so I wasn't clear how the dad actually died, the nasty scientists killed him but how? Was it a big mad dog or was that part just thd delusion?

wintera · 09/01/2012 16:50

What the friggin hell is going on with Russell Tovey? Why is he turning into such a crap actor? I'm really confused. Loved him in first series of Being human, he was fab. Second series of BH and he over acted slightly. Third series of BH and he was over acting a hell of a lot. Then last night in Sherlock he was absolutely awful. For God's sake Russell - Too much acting! Hold back a bit!

Does any one else fancy rupert graves? If you're all big with the benedict love I'll have him to myself.

Vickymumof2 · 09/01/2012 16:52

I guessed it quite early on so I wasn't very gripped either. I thought the h.o.u.n.d would be a reference to gases as I'd guessed it was something airbourn.. hydrogen/oxygen/something/nitrogen dioxide? Actually I thought that was a bit cleverer than the actual storyline about the scientists. Pfft!
I do love the modern twist on it. DH is loving it too! Wish they'd make a full series. Saw Martin Freeman on Jonathon Ross/Graham Norton - cant' remember which and he said it's like making a feature film each time. Why not make them hour long episodes and have more of them!!??

The nasty scientist was fighting with him and he smacked his head on a rock. That's how the dad died. Someone has already mentioned this but I assumed the dog was supposed to look crap because it wasn't really like what they saw, it was just a regular out of control dog so the effects didn't bother me because of that. On the whole I thought it was very good. And Lestrade is quite fit - what I call a silver fox!
