I remember Mr Trebus!

shrinkingnora · 21/12/2011 21:46

You see, you would have thought my uncle had no quality of life if you saw his house, but he held down a job, did masses of charity work, visited us regularly, attended all family events, went to the pub with his mates but only had a narrow path from the front door to his chair and from the chair to the loo.

Sparklingbaubles · 21/12/2011 21:46

I am in love with the gardening man. he is going to have Richard round for dinner. Grin

FlamingoBingo · 21/12/2011 21:47

OMG! That landlord! "People won't want to help people who they think are mentally ill" - nice!

ChickensThinkYouCanGetStuffed · 21/12/2011 21:48

Even the vicar seems to lack basic compassion. He seems like such an intelligent, fascinating man. Such a shame.

shrinkingnora · 21/12/2011 21:48

Oh my god, there ARE nice people there. the rest of them are cunts though.

namechangerbat · 21/12/2011 21:48

Any one else think that the village is just like the one on Hot Fuzz? Crazies Grin

Sparklingbaubles · 21/12/2011 21:48

I'm not watching ITV as I will ball the whole way through.... Now welling up at this - seriously I used to be tough pre children!

It's reminding me of DH bartering with me during clear outs - do we really need 45 belts?? Errr Hmm yes!

FlamingoBingo · 21/12/2011 21:50

And that woman - "now we're trying a different approach" - no you're not, you're standing watching other people take a kinder approach!

shrinkingnora · 21/12/2011 21:50

ahem. Yes namechangerbat, upthread a way....

ChickensThinkYouCanGetStuffed · 21/12/2011 21:51

Aha! It's been bugging me since the start. Richard looks like...Jeremy Irons.

OnTheTopOfTheWorld · 21/12/2011 21:52

My house feels positively minimalistic!

Sparklingbaubles · 21/12/2011 21:55

We all love the gardener. He is being so gentle with Richard. It's lovely.

The neighbours on the other hand are grating my carrot........

It's all relative planetpotty!

hiddenhome · 21/12/2011 21:55

Those villagers are so awful. Fancy not wanting to help him Sad

shrinkingnora · 21/12/2011 21:56

Happyish ending to my uncle's story was that the neighbour who was nice and supportive to him ended up buying the house and doing it up and has stayed in touch with our family ever since.

MavisGrind · 21/12/2011 21:56

Coming to this late but agree with everyone re awful villagers, lovely gardener and fit firemen!

I also used to watch Life of Grime (RIP John Peel)

shrinkingnora · 21/12/2011 21:58
