And the last episode of Season 1 is on before in case you need to remember what happened

susie I only watched 28 weeks Later once - too scary!!!

OK Melty. Will you bring some of your hardcore medics, please?

Melty · 25/10/2011 22:06

Nah, we have to save the sedation for major surgery, as we won't have access to hospitals with electricity and anaesthetic machines etc.
But I'm sure we would help protect you and teach you not to be scared of them. And you can teach us how to light a fire from rubbing sticks together etc. And show us how to clean our guns. (Where will we get them from exactly? I don't move in either military/gun club circles, and don't know any unsavoury types that might have a stash. -I do have a very good kitchen knofe collection though...)
We will of course have a Daryl in our group.

countessbabycham · 25/10/2011 22:25

I will teach you some skills.I would hope to come across a military convoy or suchlike which had been overrun and find some weapons.

Someone brave would have to go and get them though.

susiedaisy · 25/10/2011 23:01

How long do you think the zombies would survive, in 28 weeks later they said around six months before they ran out of food!

PumpkinSizedEmmaRoyd · 26/10/2011 01:59

Would be good to have some kick ass women, the programme isn't even sticking to gender stereotypes convincingly. I mean, everyone knows that men are rubbish at finding things. They've probably almost tripped over the little girl on several occasions Grin

PumpkinSizedEmmaRoyd · 26/10/2011 08:58

What I mean is, it's the women who should be out searching. The men could stay back a camp and throw a venison burger on the barbeque.

countessbabycham · 26/10/2011 09:05

Grin at Pumpkin!

susie,I suppose it's not just a case of them running out of food but, also, decomposing to slime...

somewherewest · 26/10/2011 09:45

I was pondering gender differences in a zombie apocalypse and wouldn't periods be a bit of an inconvenience (fresh blood?) Blush.

susiedaisy · 26/10/2011 09:47

Grin at pumpkin

susiedaisy · 26/10/2011 09:48

I would hope my periods would stop due to stress Smile

countessbabycham · 26/10/2011 10:16

somewhere you are doing nothing to help me combat my fear....

limitedperiodonly · 26/10/2011 14:57

I might be able to solve the period thing.

I read a book called Suckers about London being taken over by vampires. The heroine starts her period after she's sneaked into a bar full of vampires under the guise of being one of them for some reason I can't remember.

They're new to vampirism and can't work out where the smell of blood is coming from. They nearly locate her when a random American backpacker walks into the bar asking for directions and they all pounce on him allowing her to make her escape. Handy, that.

So if menstruating women were accompanied by decoys, preferably blond, hunky, stupid and wearing lumberjack shirts, we should be all right.

Suckers had some useful survival tips, many of which would have applied to zombie infestation. Unfortunately I gave it to the charity shop in a rare fit of generosity Sad

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 26/10/2011 15:21

Limited - did you namechange especially for that post?

limitedperiodonly · 26/10/2011 16:22

No I didn't actually. But I got a horrible shock at first that you were outing me as a troll and I wondered what I'd done wrong

Melty · 26/10/2011 17:21

Heh, that is a very appropriate nickname for that post!

anonacfr · 26/10/2011 17:58

Currently readong World War Z. Traumatising!

countessbabycham · 26/10/2011 18:51

I've just finished it anon.T'was good!

Eggrules · 26/10/2011 21:21

Alex name change in honour of this thread...
Loved World War Z and am 49% through Handling the Undead and I love that too.

I loved 28 days/weeks later and also like vampire genre.

I don't think the source of infection has been discussed but the graphic novels have more the back story (I believe).

I would camp out in an NYC penthouse with full larder, booby trapped stairs and a helicopter pilot ready to go. I would leave as soon as a new eden was made ready.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 26/10/2011 21:36

Sorry Limited, just hadn't noticed you further up and thought it was a brilliant nickname for the subject matter!

JKSLtd · 26/10/2011 22:04

Going back to who shot the little boy.

The clip of the next episode showed Egg running up to some other non-zombies with the boy (does he have a name?) and explaining he was shot so it wasn't them who shot him.

But they must be pretty close to where our friends are to have run there with him?

Implies a 3rd group/person.

Can't wait for Fri - remembered DH is away this Fri so I can actually watch it straight away, yey!

limitedperiodonly · 26/10/2011 23:08

No need to apologise whoknows. Brillliant will do. Grin

anonacfr · 27/10/2011 09:14

OK it's official- I am a MNsnetter.

Last night went to sleep after reading World War Z and dreamed I was a post- zombie apocalypse wetnurse and helped women through BFing issues as formula wasn't available anymore.... Grin

JKSLtd · 27/10/2011 09:38

Anon - PMSL!!! Grin

Now going to pick out all the book recommendations from this thread to see what I can reserve from the library.
