ledkr · 24/10/2011 21:19

Anyone who missed it on Friday its on tonight on fx at 10,im so excited Grin Its a bit late for me with my perky early morning baby
Ill be back with a report.
I watched 40 days of night today its really good, ill have a night of bad dreams i expect.

JKSLtd · 24/10/2011 21:20

OMG my adrenalin levels are far too high for the early night i ma meant to be having!!

Who shot him????

AWimbaWay · 24/10/2011 22:23

Just watched it, brilliant! I think he was accidentally shot by other survivors trying to shoot the stag for food, the girl is probably with them too.

LtAllHallowsEve and Alexironingboard, I just thought the secret was when the scientist told him (at the end of last series) there was nobody left at the place they're heading too?

Perhaps the people in the cars just had the virus and turned into zombies, would have had to be rather sudden though! Or maybe there was a pile up so they couldn't get away when the zombies attacked?

Off to watch my next episode of 'The Event' now, have had it recorded for months and only just getting round to it.

anonacfr · 25/10/2011 09:30

Was I the only one not bothered by Egg's kid getting shot? He' such an annoying little brat. I'm much more concerned by little Sophia- abused by her father then abandoned alone in the woods in the middle of a zombie apocalypse.
Hated Lori' self righteous rant at Sophia's mother about blaming Rick. Get over yourself bitch! Like she's not going to blame him for the death of her son...

And Andrea's speech to the old guy was so sad. She wanted to die on her terms and not get eaten alive. And she nearly got eaten alive in his crappy campavan!

Just a tidbit re Merle. His kid is called Mingus (named after face jazz musician)... Reedus! MINGUS REEDUS!!!!!!

PumpkinSizedEmmaRoyd · 25/10/2011 11:44

hi can I join in? I also thought the same, why couldn't the zombies smell them when they hid under the cars and how did all the people in the cars die.

Also what I couldn't understand was why didn't Egg get the little girl to hide under the tree roots then smash the zombies heads in in the pond? why did he have to make them chase him until he was miles away?

And as a mum, could you really sit around and do nothing while your kid was alone in the dark with the undead? I would just nick the crossbow and get out there.

And.. does anyone else think that the zombies in this series are much more alert than last series? Last series they just slowly shuffled along gormlessly, this episode they run very fast, one goes exploring in a campervan and three go to church!

anyway.. must not pick holes in it as I LOVE it [hgrin]

anonacfr · 25/10/2011 14:59

OK the smell thing. When Egg and Glenn escaped in the first series, they were the only humans in a swarm of zombies.
In this case there were loads of bodies around and they were hiding out of sight. Plus the zombies were clearly moving together with more a purposep- they were going somewhere as opposed to hunting. The only one who could have been noticed was the bleeding guy, hence the 'covering him with a corpse' trick.

I think Egg got the zombies to chase him to make sure they didn't spot the little girl. He also mentioned separating them to make sure he didn't lose a two against one fight.

I feel heartbroken for that poor woman to lose her daughter in that fashion. That's why Lori's speech annoyed me so much.

I think the zombies this season are going to evolve. They definitely have more purpose- I was half expecting the campavan zombie to go to the loo or something!

And thanks to you guys I've just bought World War Z on my Kindle... Grin

AWimbaWay · 25/10/2011 15:19

Loving that he's still referred to as Egg.

AWimbaWay · 25/10/2011 15:25

I found the girl annoying, she should have done as she was told! I think she's still alive and whomever shot the boy is looking after her.

Alexironingboard · 25/10/2011 15:41

I also think the people that shot Egg's kid took the little girl.

Can't wait for Friday

LtAllHallowsEve · 25/10/2011 15:57

Pumpkin and anon...ohh you've just made me think, what if the secret was 'the zombies evolve'. I thought at first that zombies retained some of their skills/memories at first (hence wife in first episode coming back to her house) but then got more stupid as time went on. What if it's the other way around?

Ohhh no :( it's bad enough that series one gave us climbing zombies and I had to rethink my ZP. Now they can open doors n stuff. If they get smarter my ZP needs a SERIOUS rethink.

Melty · 25/10/2011 15:58

She is 13, and still carrying round a doll.
Very immature 13yr old, more likely to bolt than an older smarter child I would think.
Zombies definitely seem smarter though. Don't know about faster, certainly the wimmen folk seem to fall over a lot while being chased.
(Why exactly have we not got any kick ass women? I had hopes for Andrea, but she is quite whingy now, and as for Lori... All the men do stuff and the women sit and wait.)

I've seen EP 2.
I can tell you we meet new people. And a couple of them actually seem smart!

And Daryl gets one of the best lines. Grin

PumpkinSizedEmmaRoyd · 25/10/2011 17:36

Maybe the zombies in church had gone for holy communion taking the body and blood of christ part a bit too literally.

ledkr · 25/10/2011 19:11

I agree about the new breed of zombie too.Climbing up into the campervan, hearing a noise and knowing where its come from In world war z its more scientific when they talk about the z heads and explains a lot more. I have put the j l Bourne books on my xmas list as well as a couple of zombie films.Im worry that the family may start to think im hiding a secret.

countessbabycham · 25/10/2011 19:42

For those of you who won't watch it alone( I don't blame you) if push comes to shove I make sure doors are locked and curtains drawn (can't bear the thought of an undead face appearing at inky black windows).I then have a torch beside me in case of power cut and the phone......

I too could not leave the little girl.I would organise the men to do stuff while I sat and waited.Sorry Melty but even the wimmin on Walking Dead are more kick ass than me when it comes to zombies!!!!

ledkr I have nearly finished World War Z and it has def got better.I have Patient Zero,Flesh Eaters and Zombie Apocalypse! on my book pile ready to read next....My family think I have an unhealthy obsession with all things Zombie (I can't think why!) Grin

ILovePonyo · 25/10/2011 19:56

I am liking these new breed zombie theories, yikes.

Melty I thought that about the 'wimmin' when watching season 1, the men were hunting zombies etc and the women were cooking their food and doing their washing. Made me wonder if gender roles would regress if there was an actual zombie invasion/apocalypse - like in 28 days later where the woman and young girl are basically going to be used to repopulate at the end?

anon yes Eggs little boy is annoying Grin

Can't wait for Friday (technically Saturday as I will be too tired again to watch it on fRi)...

Melty · 25/10/2011 20:13

Thing is, I know some real life take no shit kick ass women. (Intensive care and Accident and Emergency Nurses- made of tuff stuff!!)
I cant imagine they would suddenly take on the role of the weaker, fan waving, smelling salts type if it came down to it.

I'm not sure anyone would want to repopulate at the current time in TWD. (Seems a bit risky)
Do you think did Shane and Lori use protection during the shagging scene in S1? I can't imagine they would have thought to put condoms in the OF-Rucksack.

I remember 28days later. Didn't everyone get infected by getting a teensy drop of zombie blood splashing into eyes etc? Do we know exactly how they get infected on TWD. Is it just being bitten?
I can't remember for sure. I'm a bit worried now about T-Dog and all that spurting blood.

countessbabycham · 25/10/2011 20:37

Melty would those real life take no shit kick ass women be any good in a combat situation?See,I'd love to think I would be but I know in reality I'd just run off screaming like a little girl....Blush

I think a bit of re - populating would be more my forte TBH.Awful to admit but true!

I'm not sure we know how the first case came about in The Walking Dead from what I remember...

ILovePonyo · 25/10/2011 20:48

Grin at repopulating being your forte countess Grin

I like to think I'd end up being a kick ass zombie killer but have a feeling it would all go wrong very early and I'd get bitten Confused

I think it is just getting bitten that means infection on TWD, not sure why though.

Melty · 25/10/2011 20:52

Well, as fighting the Zombies seems to involve beating the remaining brains out, I think so...
Maybe I wouldn't be so quick to fight off Looters and the like, but I think I could certainly whack a Zombie or two...
And if I didnt know how to use a gun, (I don't in this life!) I'd sure as hell get the nearest Daryl to show me how.
If it came down to it and it was survive by beating the crap out of a zombie, (who are slow shuffley shambling things) then I'd do that before I'd run away.

I would think there should be a fair amount of shagging going on, thinking back to the stories of WW2, and soldiers going off to war, but really, the pickings are a bit slim.
Dale? Nope.
Rick? Sweet but married and devoted; Shane? No way, the rapey scene back at the CDC has put me well off.
Glenn, maybe.... T-Dog, nope, (besides his arm will be well stinky and rotting by now)
I might have to fight for Daryl. Grin At least he could hunt some wild animals, and he's smart and appears to have some survival skills. I cold learn a thing or too from him.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 25/10/2011 21:01

Been keeping off the thread till I had time to watch it on Sky+, which I have now done - I think I need to see the whole of Season 1 again to remember all the details.

I've been wondering about them getting infected, they don't seem to be taking any care not to get covered in gore, that bit when they opened the stomach of the zombie in the woods would have covered them in it. But didn't they cover themselves in zombie gore in Season 1 when they had to walk down the street from that department store in the middle of the zombies and they came though that ok.

Agree that the pickings are a bit thin men-wise.....

countessbabycham · 25/10/2011 21:05

I can use a gun and I have some survival skills but it still doesn't alter the fact that I am shit scared of zombies.I would run.Screaming.And look for the first hard as fuck man to protect me.

Shame on me !!!!Blush

susiedaisy · 25/10/2011 21:07

Loving this thread, I thought the same about the zombies they seem more snarly, and aggressive, yikes!

susiedaisy · 25/10/2011 21:10

And just to say that the film 28 weeks later scared the absolute shit out of me for weeks, TWD seems like a walk in the park compared to thatGrin

Melty · 25/10/2011 21:17

Countess, you do realise that zombies aren't real?

susiedaisy · 25/10/2011 21:18

For now!!Grin
