As all the other threads seem to have died off I thought I'd start a new one in anticipation of this Friday's first live show.

I have to say I'm not too bothered about the Celebs this year, but then again I'm more interested in watching the professionals anyway!

The line up for each of the two shows has been announced (from BBC website):

On Friday 30th September the couples performing for the first time on live television will be:

?Alex
?Anita
?Audley
?Dan
?Lulu
?Robbie
?Russell

Then on Saturday 1st October the couples performing for the first time together will be:

?Chelsee
?Edwina
?Harry
?Holly
?Jason
?Nancy
?Rory

Please note the running order has yet to be confirmed. The celebrities have been listed above in alphabetical order.

They will dance either a Waltz or a Cha Cha Cha, but I'm not 100% sure who is doing what.

My overriding thought in the run up for the series so far has been "I hope the wardrobe department come up with some decent foundations for poor Chelsee!"
That outfit they've put her in for the promo shots makes her boobs look humungous Shock

Anyone else care to share their thoughts in advance?

WhatsWrongWithYou - that made me Smile - she really is completely self obsessed, isn't she? I find it all a bit unpleasant, particularly the way that she seems to think she is soooooooo much better than she is.. Hopefully, being in the bottom two gets her to sort herself out a bit but have the sneaky suspicion she'll be blaming Anton for that (and am not much of an Anton fan but he genuinely tried this week, I think!)

AitchTwoOh · 16/10/2011 22:14

it's the Bloody SHOES, i am convinced of it. why will she not wear dancing shoes, it's ridiculous.

No notjustclassic nor me. And did anyone notice the front man (forgotten his name) had a big stain down his shirt? I much preferred the professional dancers West Side Story piece.

thenightsky · 17/10/2011 09:12

I never even noticed Nancy's shoes.

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 17/10/2011 10:27

I won't miss Dan a single little bit. I didn't like his attitude ? being snippy about getting bad comments from the judges is NOT a good look. I love Katya though so will miss her. What was Dan's comment when she said she was sorry not to have had the chance to get up at 2.30am with him ? he said 'We can still do that.' Is there a little bit of a thing between them? Isn't Katya married or engaged?

Nancy WAS better than before; Craig was mean.
Audley is a sweetheart and has a great attitude, but he will reach his limit v soon.
Jason was a bit over-rated IMO (agree that he must have known chunks of that dance already, and all the campery in front of the judges was a bit in-jokey and 'we're all mates'), although I loved the choreography and love Kristina.
Holly's acting was good but her dancing is still a little stilted. Didn't like the 'support-knicker' effect of the mesh panels. I'm warming to Artem: 'I'm not rude, I'm just Russian.' Grin
Russell and Flavia just adorable, and what a showbizzy foxtrot!
Anita also has limited potential but God, she can perform and she is game. She and Robin are adorable together.
I am about 40% in love with Rory! Blush What a wonderful routine; he played it beautifully. His footwork was ace and he sparkled. He has a lovely boyish smile. Blush
Bored by Lulu, her crying all the fecking time in training, and Brendan and his lifts.
Loved Craig: 'Watch out for Bruno in the bar, darling' after Bruno blatantly came on to Harry. They are getting queenier by the week. I love it. Grin

CeliaFate · 17/10/2011 10:44

The Footloose dance was like an amateur performance IMHO. The couple who danced initially weren't brilliant, but I hate that style of dance - throw her here, jump up there, fling yourself around over there. And she had bare feet. Not elegant or impressive - our pros are much better.

CristinaaarghdellAaarghPizza · 17/10/2011 10:55

Yes I hated the Footloose dance - the choreography was all over the shop. I'm glad Dan's gone, he was dull.

AitchTwoOh · 17/10/2011 11:09

duller than nancy, that's for sure. i think at this stage in the competition we need a car crash contestant to keep things interesting, let the merely competent dancers slide, i say.

CristinaaarghdellAaarghPizza · 17/10/2011 13:40

Agree entirely Aitch. I loved the Len's Lens footage of Nancy - she really did look like a carthorse (although more sober than previous weeks)

LetUsPrey · 17/10/2011 13:57

Another one here who didn't rate the Footloose routine.

Thought the Len's Lens footage was interesting when they showed Jason and Kristina as although admittedly the routine was fab-u-lous and Jason's dancing is very good, it showed that there weren't quite in sync. Petty to pick up on it but I'm not warming to Jason at all. And of course he's going to be good at performing/acting, etc - it's his job!

Not bothered that Dan's gone. Don't know whether it was bad editing in the VT, but he had started to come across as a bit of a pillock. The reaction to the judges' comments re Nancy's confirmed it I think.

And turning to Nancy, it looked like Anton had to actually drag her up the stairs to Tess's area!

Pan · 17/10/2011 15:02

Does anyone know of where you could download the theme tune as a ring tone?

chipstick10 · 17/10/2011 15:36

LetUsPrey its not bad editing he is more than a bit of a pillock. Have seen him with me own eyes on daybreak and he is.....i mean he really is Alan Partridge.

LetUsPrey · 17/10/2011 15:44

As I suspected chipstick. I don't watch Daybreak. It's usually Fireman Sam in a morning in our house. A patronising pillock, yes, but at least he's not real.

OliviaMumsnet · 17/10/2011 18:20

Am just catching up on this as wasnt around at the w/e.
Any diehard fans recognise Holly's dress as being worn by another Strictly competitor in another season. it looked V familiar?

Pan · 17/10/2011 19:32

No, I've been a SCDista since the opening steps, and I think that dressing would have stuck in mind.
But the wig instantly reminded me of Julia Styles as Nicky Parsons in the very last scene of The Bourne Ultimatum.

OliviaMumsnet · 17/10/2011 20:11

Realised all the dresses looked familiar, was watching a recorded ep that I watched live from a fortnight ago.

Loving how I eked that confession out of you though, Pan Grin

CristinaaarghdellAaarghPizza · 17/10/2011 20:12

I don't remember it and I have watched with obsession dedication since the first series. I actually think that hairdo originated in Pulp Fiction as shorthand for gangster's moll which I think predated Chicago by a few years.

notyummy · 17/10/2011 20:20

No, Chicago been round since the 70s. And the bob I assume just reflects the era that Chicago is set in.

Pan · 17/10/2011 20:25

yeah, very funny.Grin

WhatsWrongWithYou · 17/10/2011 21:11

I thought the wig was a nod to <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.com/imgres?q=catherine+zeta+jones+chicago&hl=en&client=safari&sa=X&rls=en&biw=1678&bih=930&tbm=isch&prmd=imvnsuo&tbnid=BkjGKSUWW5y_6M:&imgrefurl=entertainment.desktopnexus.com/wallpaper/41068/&docid=PfPJ8Aux3S0jnM&imgurl=static.desktopnexus.com/thumbnails/41068-bigthumbnail.jpg&w=450&h=338&ei=Y4ucTvD6Is_JswatmtjeAw&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=448&vpy=201&dur=4252&hovh=194&hovw=259&tx=160&ty=119&sig=107782173292866585842&page=1&tbnh=165&tbnw=230&start=0&ndsp=30&ved=1t:429,r:1,s:0" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Catherine Zeta Jones in the film. Didn't watch all of it - got bored - but God, she was gorgeous!

notyummy · 17/10/2011 21:32

Have seen Chicago twice on stage before seeing the film- lots if bibs, including at least one of the leading ladies. Assumed it was because they were popular in the 20s and 30s.

WhatsWrongWithYou · 17/10/2011 21:34

Yes, but what about the bobs? Grin

notyummy · 17/10/2011 21:55

Doh! Blush
