Strictly Come Dancing 2011

As all the other threads seem to have died off I thought I'd start a new one in anticipation of this Friday's first live show.

I have to say I'm not too bothered about the Celebs this year, but then again I'm more interested in watching the professionals anyway!

The line up for each of the two shows has been announced (from BBC website):

On Friday 30th September the couples performing for the first time on live television will be:

?Anita
?Audley
?Dan
?Lulu
?Robbie
?Russell

Then on Saturday 1st October the couples performing for the first time together will be:

?Chelsee
?Edwina
?Harry
?Holly
?Jason
?Nancy
?Rory

Please note the running order has yet to be confirmed. The celebrities have been listed above in alphabetical order.

They will dance either a Waltz or a Cha Cha Cha, but I'm not 100% sure who is doing what.

My overriding thought in the run up for the series so far has been "I hope the wardrobe department come up with some decent foundations for poor Chelsee!"
That outfit they've put her in for the promo shots makes her boobs look humungous

Anyone else care to share their thoughts in advance?

we were looking at greased lightning on youtube last night, officially the karaoke has it as 'the chicks'll scream" . it is in no way what john travolta* is actually singing, but that's what it says on the screen.

*my god, i had forgotten how handsome...

Lots of improvement this week - Alex ,Rory, Dan even Lulu & Nancy. Anita not so good and over marked imo as was Robbie. Didn't like Chelsee this week but maybe that was song choice. Jason had stand out performance of the show again & Russel so much fun to watch.

Mind you, I didn't think Ola's choreography was that good until a couple of series ago, so perhaps Aliona will improve?

It doesn't matter how good you are, or how many trophies you've won, you have to play the game: teach your celebrity properly, do the dance you're supposed to be doing, not do daft things with lifts (Brendan, Robin...), seem enthusiasticand not just about winning Natalie.

The pros I like now are the ones who do this (Erin, Ola, James most of the time, Katya), it just seems a shame that this attitude doesn't seem to do as well as it used to. Can you imagine Aliona in series 3 or 4? I honestly don't know if she'd have been invited back.

Oh, and I just want a quick foot stamp too. Holly was not being Roxie, she was Velma!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

May I just add that I am perplexed weekly by Tess Daly's choice of garish lipstick.

Had a sneaking suspicion that she would stay. Did anyone else see Dan & Katya sniggering when Tess read out Craig's comment bout Nancy?!

Wanted Nancy to go, but I am sort of glad Dan & Katya have gone. Never warmed to Katya at all.

i thought it was all the interaction with bruce last week (and the seeming jealous reaction of her partner) that got them in to stay..

a story always sells.

I think people are keeping Nancy in so they can laugh at her. She will think it is because people like her and think she is good .

When I saw Claudia's dress tonight I thought she had fake arms [hgrin]

Am liking Nancy more and more. Anton is getting right on my thingies. Thought Tess' dress was fine, though Mollie I did say further up she was wearing comedy lipstick, wasn't she?
And Alex looked utterly devine daaarling, simho.

Dan was smug and annoying but Nancy is deluded and self obsessed, i'd have smug and annoying any day.

Hello all! Missed last nights show as we were travelling back from Ascot. Sad to see Dan has gone as I like Katya as a dancer.

Glad to hear Nancy showed a little improvement, I'm looking forward to watching the dances online

Very sorry to see Dan lose out to Nancy. I think she is a most obnoxious woman. I rather liked Dan altho' I know he was no dancer but then neither is she.

Yes Aitch- I showed 5 year old dd the original Grease clip on YouTube (as I was that age when my parents took me to the cinema to see it and I loved it.) John Travolta really was a Greek god in it. Great feel good film.

Just watched it. Was most surprised at Subo's voice. Nothing to write home about, thank god Flavia and Vincent were dancing so beautifully because it took attention away from average singer in the background.

Feel a bit sorry for Dan - he did come across as a bit smug, but maybe nerves? Like Holly comes across as a bit dull and aloof, but sure it's just nerves when being interviewed. Never relaxed but that doesn't make her a bad person.....
