Strictly Come Dancing 2011

As all the other threads seem to have died off I thought I'd start a new one in anticipation of this Friday's first live show.

I have to say I'm not too bothered about the Celebs this year, but then again I'm more interested in watching the professionals anyway!

The line up for each of the two shows has been announced (from BBC website):

On Friday 30th September the couples performing for the first time on live television will be:

?Lulu
?Robbie
?Russell

Then on Saturday 1st October the couples performing for the first time together will be:

?Chelsee
?Edwina
?Harry
?Holly
?Jason
?Nancy
?Rory

Please note the running order has yet to be confirmed. The celebrities have been listed above in alphabetical order.

They will dance either a Waltz or a Cha Cha Cha, but I'm not 100% sure who is doing what.

My overriding thought in the run up for the series so far has been "I hope the wardrobe department come up with some decent foundations for poor Chelsee!"
That outfit they've put her in for the promo shots makes her boobs look humungous

Anyone else care to share their thoughts in advance?

How's Zoe doing compared to claudia?

Bless her she choked, literally, during her first link!!
She's not as insane kooky as Claudia but she's doing a good job.

I do rather love claudia's kookiness, and it never comes across as much on the results show, or perhaps it just seems a little out of context on the results show? I'm struggling to imagine ITT without her. Zoe certainly has some big, and often amazing, shoes to fill

By the way, I hope you all don't mind my just bursting in on your thread, I've been lurking for a bit but can't resist talking about Strictly

Zoe came across as hvaing fun and is genuinely "into" the series but we are all going to have to have loads of stamina for 11 weeks!

Bugger I forgot it was on, I'll have to watch on iplayer tomorrow.

Claudia is brilliant and I can't imagine anyone doing as good a jOb. I do like Zoe though - she should have won.

Am hoping now that DH doesn't get home until I've had time to watch ITT.....

Some trivia - Zoe Ball has the highest ever first dance score in Strictly history (35). As Claudia is out of action this year, I am happy to allow Zoe to take on ITT. She does absolutely love the show, and having been a contestant gives her a good insight. I am really lookiung forward to this year's Sctrictly - that's my Saturday nights sorted until Christmas!

YES! ME! I'm going to the first night in Cardiff. V. Excited!

I agree re Zoe in terms of it being nice to have an ex contestant. Still not watched it but when I heard claudia wasn't doing it I couldn't see who would replace her. When they said Zoe I did think she would be quite a good replacement hopefully - quite relaxed and nice and knowledgeable about the show - I think you need a proper fan to do it because the show is for the avid fans of the main show (iyswim). There's never another claudia but I'm sure Zoe will do!!

Oh and Celia - jealous!!

Rare I get to use for it's intended purpose but this is one occasion (being pg, I more often steal to use for feeling sick!)

Ooh, I saw Brendan and his fall down the stairs too. Good recovery or what!

Anyone else noticed that when Nancy crosses her legs (when sitting) she holds one leg in mid-air slightly above the other rather than letting it rest? Then she doesn't get all the thigh spreadage.
I marvel at it each episode but DH can't see it.

Oooh I'll be checking out nancy's leg crossing for sure! She must have some core and leg muscles to hold one leg in the air!

Just caught up - marathon strictly & ITT I player session. Jason an early favourite & Anita a nice surprise. Chelsee better than I thought too but what was with all the 'my fair lady' type comments -made her out to be some sort of guttersnipe dragged onto the show for Eliza Doolittle make- over. Thought Zoe did good job on ITT but still miss Claudia .

I love that Zoe gets to hang out with Ian again - even if it's just once a week. They always had such a lovely relationship and you can tell they are genuinely really good friends.. made me nice and warm inside!

Love, love, love Jason though and have got DD (2.4) shouting "Love You Jason" at the tv and "Go Jason".. he is a sweetie though and when I saw him a couple of years ago, I was pregnant with her so maybe it's her choice and not me forcing my views on her...??

Me three. My DH is very concerned! I just pointed out that it was because it was doing the rhumba.

If I want to watch in peace I have to record watch after ds3 in bed
