Old thread's getting full, so here's a nice new acid-resistant one...

i don't get why they're not looking for her any more AT ALL, just do not understand that. wouldn't you want time to be re-written so your kiddie wasn't a fookin' sociopath?

and yyy to the 'more common than you think' line. veeery good.

notbloody - I have no idea. I'm going with the fact that as Mels said they effectively brought her up anyway/thay can't interfere with their own past etc they have just accepted it. Also Amy/Rory never really knew that Amy was pregnant and then the baby was taken away immediately so I guess if you can get your head around space and time travel you might be able to cope with a missing baby!

Or as Steven Moffet says when he can't actually expalain the storyline it's just one of those timey wimey things Confused

look, stop asking awkward questions about the whole bay Melody thing and answer my question about the Plan Toy people. I am about to go to bed and need to know of it is a good idea or not. :o

Both DS1 and I think it is a good way of diffusing any fears. After all, the game of creeping up behind them and freezing into menacing poses worked a treat after the Angels...

However, DS2 says he will scream very loudly if I do... Maybe tomorrow night.

"Also Amy/Rory never really knew that Amy was pregnant "

Real Amy would have known, ganger Amy was the one who didn't. I can see how it would all be unreal for Rory though.

that's true, real amy knew she was pregnant waaay back. although was she put in a state of suspended animation when her ganger self was in action, so i suppose she went from 'i'm pregnant!' to 'I'M HUUUUGE and in labour' in the blink of an eye.

next week's is quite good, though, i thought. [timey-wimey]

I guess you have to accept that an episode is just a snapshot and you don't know what they've been doing in-between. Although they seemed to be off in a sightseeing trip at the end of this episode.

I think this story line was a mistake.

I liked the (paraphrased)

Dad/Alex: "We thought it might be what he was watching on tv so we banned scary tv"
MS: "Ooooh you don't want to do that!"

As someone who's constantly given "that look" for letting her 5 yr old boy watch DW I liked the comment very much Grin

My 4 yo was quite terrified by this week's episode (and went to check out her dolls house before she went to bed).

notbloodybranston I was wondering the same myself.

Right - I was expecting tonight's ep to be a bit scarier but oh well There seems to be a mismatch between concept & execution this series that is not brilliant but let's see how it all pans out.
Btw did anyone think there was a bit of a story-arc centric Clue disguised as a throw-away line chucked in at the end there about them all being flesh Confused

Report
Arcadie · 03/09/2011 23:38

teejwood- yyy on the flesh comment. It was altogether too clunky not to have been a more purposeful comment (unless that's SM putting us off the scent...)

I quite liked this one, as someone else said it made a change to have an episode by itself, although it was a bit predictable (I guessed straight away they were in a dolls' house ).
I got a filthy look from dd because I couldn't help roaring with laughter when the old lady was sucked head first into the bin bags. I know it wasn't meant to be funny Grin.

Are there any theories on why The Doctor changed into white tie and tails for Let's Kill Hitler? He was last dressed like that for Amy and Rory's wedding.

I quite liked this weeks episode. It was nice to have a bit of a break from all the heavy stuff.

I especially liked when the doctor and the dad first saw a peg doll and the doctor flashed his screwdriver at it and then said "I really must work out a setting for wood. This is just embarrassing" :o

Why do you think that they are not still looking for melody? I thought that this week, they were responding to a distress message from the boy...

Anyway, I also assumed that it is standard practise in a Dr Who series now to have an over arching story interspersed with stand alone, old stlye episodes.

Reading this thread it is clear that you really can't please all of the people all of the time...

I just thought it wasn't up to a Gatiss episode - not scary enough (even for me and I am a total wimp - Blink scared the bejesus out of me for months).

It was a bit predictable really and the problem with these stand alone episodes is that the distract from the big story leaving some people thinking "but why have they suddenly stopped looking for the baby?"

One thing though - in last weeks trailer there was a snapshot of Matt Smith pulling on a pair of very Tennantesque glasses with a Tennantesque 'ha!' type of exclamation. Is this just a retained through regeneration thing or can I cling on to the hope that the 10th Dr is somehow not done yet?

AitchTwoOh · 04/09/2011 09:50

glasses are cool!

what was the flesh line, i don't recall it.

Didn't realise that Amy knew she was pg - but OK suspended animation for most of it and not able to change what has already happened re "raising Mels" Then again heard something about KG and AD perhaps not being available for some or all of the next series and the storyline being that they find Meoldy and settle down to raise her for a bit. Actually that made less sense to me than them not looking for her. Confused However if they don't find her ever than what was the bit about the cot in AMGTW since in this storyline it seems like Melody never uses it. Confused At this point it seems likely that some of the loose ends simply can't all be tied up other than "timey wimey".

Whereyouleftit He had 32 minutes to live (they were very specific about that) and spent what? 20 or so doing who knows what and getting changed into tails - which River asked about. There has to be an explanation for that at some point surely I agree.
