Old thread's getting full, so here's a nice new acid-resistant one...

OP posts:
HarrietJones · 28/09/2011 08:13

Yes, had just watched it last night. Got the creepy rhyme stuck in my head!

Fiderer · 28/09/2011 08:29

Is Winston Churchill talking to Jesus?

teejwood · 28/09/2011 09:29

med given what we saw at the end of CT it looks like Kovarian is working for/with the Silents. she obviously does not forget them. so that makes me think the eyepatch has a constant image of a Silent on the inside so you never forget about them? or something like that?

that would explain why certain other people start wearing them - so they can battle the silents. i'm probably wrong, though!

fiderer some people do think the doctor has a bit of a god complex so you could read it that way Grin

taking it the doctor has the hair/beard from when he was locked in area 52 when dressed in that toga - do we assume this is a parallel timeline or just that he goes to this messed up period in time when he's supposed to be locked up in the impenetrable box in area 52?

BhamHouse · 28/09/2011 14:27

dylthan is area 52 where the dr was held in the pandorica?

I am also wondering if it was the place that Rose was kind to the golden dalek (can't rememeber the episode name)- there was a rich american who collected oddities, he had a young british chap working for him, and a secret underground base in the US...

BhamHouse · 28/09/2011 14:28

actually- do I mean pandorica, or that boxy thing mentioned by teej?

whatkungfuthat · 28/09/2011 14:28

Marking (have nothing sensible to add)

Dylthan · 28/09/2011 14:47

Thanks bhamhouse that would make sense. Why don't I remember seeing pyramids before though. I feel that is something I should probably of remembered. Confused

teejwood · 28/09/2011 14:48

Bham oooohhhh Dalek was the ep - always liked that one. One Dalek more chilling than a whole army of them

But I think that one was set in the rich American's personal property, rather than a US government owned facility.. good idea, though! whereas the doctor was being held in a top secret US government facility....

teejwood · 28/09/2011 14:52

Meant to credit whereyouleftit for the inside of the eye-patch theory btw!

teejwood · 28/09/2011 14:57

sorry for confusion - doctor was being held in Area 51 in Day of the Moon but there seems to be an area 52 in the finale - which is a pyramid.

which i think just illustrates that time and space has gone all bonkers

Grin
SESthebrave · 28/09/2011 14:58

Another one following Dr Who and this thread but very confused! I do however think the theory that the eye patch prevents you from forgetting the Silence could be correct.
As for timelines, gangers, etc - I just can't work it out!

Looking forward to Saturday, except for the fact that it will mean no more Dr Who until Christmas! (I presume there will be a Christmas special again this year?)

teejwood · 28/09/2011 15:03

SES yes! and some marvellous teaser photos have been released by the BBC already Grin

BhamHouse · 28/09/2011 15:04

I think we are meant to believe therell be no more Dr Who ever.... Grin

Thanks teej!

SESthebrave · 28/09/2011 15:04

Ooh good - I must go and look!

Another thing I keep meaning to do is watch back some old episodes. Are they available on the BBC website or YouTube?

teejwood · 28/09/2011 15:14

my pleasurebham!

SES youtube and dailymotion have quite a few

looking forward to saturday, i am slightly concerned that the series will be wrapped up but not in an entirely tidy way Hmm there just seems to be too much going on for 45 minutes Hmm

Dylthan · 28/09/2011 15:21

I agree teejwood I thought it would be a two part finale I really don't see how they can tie up all the lose ends.

I think it will most likely be a pretty action packed end to this series :o

MigratingCoconuts · 28/09/2011 19:44

perhaps they don't need a double episode because not everything will be wrapped up.

We could be facing the dreaded cliff hanger Shock

AitchTwoOh · 28/09/2011 21:08

it is a bit weird, i think, that there are only 13 eps in this series. unusual to end on an odd number. we already know that the reason they took a summer break was cos they ran out of money, i really hope they haven't had to edit an envisaged two part finale script into one...

BhamHouse · 28/09/2011 21:48

I imagine there will be an almighty cliffhanger again

I am getting very excited about the final episode though...

Hmm now... picture 3 of those BBC pics has Dr wearing a black bowtie! Shock

BhamHouse · 28/09/2011 21:50

Aitch- the last 2 series have been 13 episodes too... Grin

meditrina · 28/09/2011 21:50

Teej - remember that we were told in Let's Kill Hitler that the Silence is a religious order, not a species. The eyepatch is associated with someone working with that religious order, which is why I thought it would be the mark of an initiate. Though I agree entirely that being able to see all members of the sect at all times could also be part of that too - so perhaps it does both.

So the River with the eyepatch could be the adult version of the child River, who was taken by the order to go back in time and kill the Doctor before he tricked them into the "kill on sight" video. Or it could be a River who has been captured and initiated against her will - as it could be for other eyepatch wearers. Unless (like in the pirates episode) they submit in order to explore and bring down the other side.

helpmabob · 28/09/2011 21:50

ha ha I bet they read this thread and decided to fuck with us. It will be a rainbow coloured bow tie next

meditrina · 28/09/2011 21:54

And, assuming that many species can join the Silence, it is possible that the mind control over the observer is not limited to the species we have seen. Perhaps it is worn by a Silence to dampen the mind control so they can be remembered - and, amongst those not familiar with what the patch does, pass as one who is not a member.

BhamHouse · 28/09/2011 22:05

I think it's black, because he's dead (in a wibbly wobbly timey wimey sense, obviously... Wink)

I think that perhaps "the Wedding of River Song" isn't a marriage ceremony, but the bringing together of two (or more) River Songs/Melody Ponds in the sense of the word 'wedding' meaning putting 2 things close together IYSWIM.

The fact that River didn't recognise the Silence aliens in the end of episode 12 could mean she was gangered too (or maybe just forgot them as she's supposed to, doh). Or maybe it's just the meeting of different incarnations of River, and she is trying to stop 1 version of herself killing The Doctor...

AitchTwoOh · 28/09/2011 22:16

have they really been 13 eps before? weird number, but thank goodness for that.
