Old thread's getting full, so here's a nice new acid-resistant one...

so how would having faith in luck help with a fear of ventriloquist dummies?

Sigh. It was so much easier way way back in the day when I watched the very first episode just after we got our very first telly.

Though I do like a clever plot, SM seems to have got himself in a bit of a tangle. I think this was eventually inevitable as soon as Dr Who returned and had all the problems of having to keep having the daleks and cybermen, and having stuff keep happening in the England of today. I hated the UNIT ones where he was stuck on earth for the same reason.

MigratingCoconuts · 24/09/2011 07:33

I couldn't see the point of the mole man who appeared to have no faith at all and really played no part in the plot. If amy's faith brought them there, then what brought the moleman? What was the point of him?

belgo · 24/09/2011 07:40

He was a rat, not a mole. I was wondering what was the point of him as well, and where does he go afterwards?

Fiderer · 24/09/2011 09:38

Wasn't it that he always put his (and a lot of) faith in anyone who came and conquered the planet, an intense and constantly changing but constant faith?

On the Dr Who website it says that in tonight's episode the Doctor pays Craig a farewell visit. That would fit with him knowing he's going to die....

MigratingCoconuts · 24/09/2011 10:55

I can see how that would work with -mole- -rat- the alien but he was the only one that didn't seem to find a door apart from Rory.

He was a funny character though

MigratingCoconuts · 24/09/2011 10:55

sorry mole rat

I don't see why mole man was there at all - presumably he wasn't on earth (like the other captives) nor did he seem to have been part of a bunch as gorilla policewoman said she was the last one there - implying those the Doc met were a new bunch. Also, mole man was not like Rory, who was just swept up with a Doctor and Amy as there were none others from his planet.

So - was he a metaphorical mole (sounds cheesy, but the mole in G-Force was indeed the mole)? Who for? And what was he doing with this fish?

MigratingCoconuts · 24/09/2011 11:36

no, Reality, I don't think so. the bell wasn't tolling when they went into the weeping angels room. I don't think we are meant to know yet but I assumed the tolling bell was a reference back to the Master and all that stuff back then, when the bell was tolling.

Yes, I kept excepting mole man to have some sort of twist to his story. I hope he comes back as I think he was a bit of a watsed character...maybe he is being set up here for a future episode?

oh! ok...which makes me wonder where he had previously met them?

EdithWeston · 24/09/2011 13:13

When someone saw their worst fear, their eye's widened and (except for that Doctor, whose faith status - and plasticity - is unknown) they started to "praise him". Mole man did neither. I wondered if he was some sort of Minotaur henchman? And the fish are totally unexplained.

HarrietJones · 24/09/2011 20:02

Cyber man shaped mirrors

Bow tie a different colour at the end

Eye patch something to help remember the silence?

MollieO · 24/09/2011 20:02

So is there going to be a new doctor or does this one not die? Confused

HarrietJones · 24/09/2011 20:08

I'm assuming a change of history rather than 'the end'

MigratingCoconuts · 24/09/2011 20:15

They said his death was a fixed point in time in the Hitler episode...unchangeable.

BehindLockNumberNine · 24/09/2011 20:18

Cyberman shaped mirrors? Must have missed those...

HarrietJones · 24/09/2011 20:25

The mirrors had the handle bar things on like cyber men's heads.

Watching confidential , lol at 7 babies!

coconuts I'm thinking they'll find a loop hole

NanBullen · 24/09/2011 20:29

just watching confidential, are the police allowed to do a pnc check on a vehicle just because the bbc asks them to? Confused

HarrietJones · 24/09/2011 20:36

I assume people were told not to park there as BBC will have permission to close the street so they will be allowed to ask people to move.

We often have our street shut for parking and PCOs have been seengetting people to move cars.

MigratingCoconuts · 24/09/2011 20:44

I'd like them to find a loop hole that doesn't suddenly change a fundemental fixed point....otherwise its just cheap writing!

meditrina · 24/09/2011 20:46

Anyone else watch Doctor Who Confidential, and catch what SM gave away at the end?

HarrietJones · 24/09/2011 20:46

Ganger is the main loophole. If it's not the real dr/there's more than one.

HarrietJones · 24/09/2011 20:47

He's so careful about his wording isn't he.. It's all 'did he mean???'
