Old thread's getting full, so here's a nice new acid-resistant one...

Marking my place

Dylthan · 21/09/2011 22:48

All this talk of different coloured bow ties has has got me thinking of something else I've noticed this series.

Amy has had either green or blue nail varnish on in some episodes its not been nice shades and I've found it a bit distracting maybe that's how we spot her ganger?

Or maybe you lot have got me looking too deeply into things :o

meditrina · 21/09/2011 23:49

I thought her nail varnish was grey when she was hugging the Doctor good-bye in the last episode - was it blue in other light? And when was it green?

I've tended to discount Amy as a ganger , as she isn't always in the sae clothes (as she was when she was a ganger - though I don't see why gangers can't dress and undress). And I did notice a long shot of the Doctor's boots in the hotel corridor - but concluded that was likely to be a red herring.

I do still like the idea of it being a ganger Doctor who was shot - not least as it would mean patch lady was host by her own petard.

BlueKangaroo22 · 22/09/2011 09:17

My theory at the moment is that the episodes are not in chronological order IYSWIM. Hence why in some of the episodes they are not fussed about Melody because it hasn't happened to them yet, so now he's dropped them at that house, that could be the house from episode 1 when they get the Tardis blue postcard delivered to them? It's all that timey wimey bollocks again :D

I'm probably wrong there to be fair.

teejwood · 22/09/2011 10:11

bluekangaroo i wondered the same thing about the house - so I went back to TIA to check. It's a different front door and so a different house, unfortunately.

there was something a bit "errant parent buying off the kids" there imho - i mean he could have just dropped them back at their own house, but no he gives them a nice new posh one and rory the car of his dreams instead....

i know 10 gave donna a winning lottery ticket but that was kind of anonymously done and it was underlined that she and her dh were not the greatest shakes in the financial management department so it gave them a boost. whereas this was a bit "grand gesture", which would indicate some form of guilt. then again, maybe he's just trying to keep the nightmare IL's happy Wink

dylthan and med i also wondered about the nail varnish as it was so shoved in our faces at the end of TGC - but then my head exploded with the possibilities! no doubt SM is killing himself laughing somewhere at so many people obsessing about bow ties and nail varnish!!!

and migrating - kudos for outsourcing bow tie watch to your students Grin

Dylthan · 22/09/2011 10:53

Also did anyone spot the rubiks cube?

Red bow tie doctor in night terrors threw one down with out solving it saying it must be broken.

Blue bow tie doctor in tgc solved it without even thinking.

AitchTwoOh · 22/09/2011 10:57

oh VG dylth.

TipOfTheSlung · 22/09/2011 11:02

I think hes thrown it all in there to make people like you discuss things that make my brain explode and actually none of it means anything at all

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 22/09/2011 11:12

Ooh Dylthan - very good.

My god I hope things get a little clearer this weekend, else I'm going to be really upset.

Someone on either this thread or another thread said that they hated DT's Dr because of the monologue he felt the need to indulge in at the end of every episode. Quite aside from the fact that it provided a great opportunity to perv admire DT, some monologue to explain what the fuck is going on would be really useful just now!! Grin

AitchTwoOh · 22/09/2011 11:27

i can confirm that things will be no clearer by the end of the weekend. Grin

teejwood · 22/09/2011 12:26

ohhh yy Dylthan!
and - have we mentioned this already? blue bow tie doctor happily munched on an apple. weren't apples the spawn of the devil in 11th hour, like most other food??

teejwood · 22/09/2011 12:33

and for the terminally obsessive, there is always the fact Rory gets a red car (link to red bow tie?!) with a registration number that starts EHJ -
eleventh hour joke?
eleven has jitters?
eleven hates jam?
eleven has jammy dodgers?
Wink

meditrina · 22/09/2011 12:36

Is the new red sports car the same car they were driving at the start of Let's Kill Hitler?

teejwood · 22/09/2011 12:39

med that was a battered old mini was it not? then river comes screaming up in a stolen bmw or something?

meditrina · 22/09/2011 12:45

Oh, thanks - I couldn't remember at all, and am clearly really wide of the mark on that one.

teejwood · 22/09/2011 13:17

med it is vv confusing in general so is it any wonder we are all over the place?!

ali meant to say i never minded the DT monologues Wink

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 22/09/2011 14:07

teej - quite Wink

Aitch - well at least I won't be hoping now! Grin Bleugh I really hope the last one is magnificent to make up for all this.

WhereYouLeftIt · 22/09/2011 14:49

You know, I never noticed that Tennant monologued at the end of the episodes but then I was probably quite distracted at the time .

fantus · 22/09/2011 16:26

Sorry if this has already been mentioned but did anyone notice the number on the door to the docs room in the last ep? The one with young amy in. I am sure it was no 11. 11th Doctor? Amy's was number 7 I think, I just wondered if that might mean anything at all, although probably not significant- I am rubbish at these things Grin.

ScatterChasse · 22/09/2011 16:30

How old was she when she waited for him? Could that be it?

I'm starting to believe SM never does anything without a reason. I admit I wasn't convinced before this series, but now every little thing seems to point to something.

Oh Lord, I'm going to become a conspiracy theorist aren't I?

Have only just discovered and read thru this thread and you lot make my brain boggle!! Bow ties? How do you notice this stuff? Am watching with interest and have nothing to add to the many confusing and baffling theories people have already suggested Grin

MigratingCoconuts · 22/09/2011 18:04

Ok Student update!

He watched the ganger episode again for me us and said that both versions of the Doctor had blue bowties (I told him this was wrong and to go away and do his homework again Grin)

He brought in the Tennant boxset so that i can re-watch the library episode when we first meet River.

I predict this student will go far Grin (he's in year 13, btw)

MigratingCoconuts · 22/09/2011 18:08

ps it was me who said that DT's monologues got right on my nerves. Once I noticed, it really did my head in...it was especially bad in the christmas specials....

Although, i do totally get the eye candy thing!

fantus · 22/09/2011 18:36

And sorry but can anyone tell me what was in Amy's room? Did we actually see?
