I personally like the way she re-invents herself so often. It's more interesting. She's not afraid to experiment. She's had some terrible looks but some fab ones too. I don't think we should get too hung up on the latest flick hairstyle etc as it will be something else in 6 months. And why not? She is in the entertainment business after all. Female stars get scrutinised so much more than male ones. They're under so much more pressure to be the best. Madonna's just trying to stay at the top of her game.

Who knows? Perhaps I'll re-invent myself as a glamorous yummy mummy and dance around the sitting room in my pink leotard tonight. Wonder what DH would think? Hmmn.

saadia · 16/11/2005 16:14

No expat I haven't seen the X Factor, but the artist you mention doesn't sound terribly successful (correct me if I'm wrong).

swings · 16/11/2005 16:14

Pip, he'd be delighted I'm sure!

expatinscotland · 16/11/2005 16:15

Oh, yes, the ol' clique stuff - 'in house jokes' and 'mates'. Yeah, right.

You find me unpleasant, I find you incredibly nippy.

I have no idea why you targeted me and I honestly couldn't care less. I never got personal with you, but you chose to w/me b/c you don't like women who slag off other womens' appearance.

Whatever. This started out as a fun, have a larf thread, but obviously that isn't something some folks are capable of having.

I'm not interested in having a strop w/a total stranger over someone as insignificant as Madonna, so take a load off.

(goes back to her dog-eared, highlighted copy of 'The Female Eunuch')

shannen · 16/11/2005 16:16

...and her new song is shite.

expatinscotland · 16/11/2005 16:16

Shannen
Is that ABBA I heard in the background of the new song?

shannen · 16/11/2005 16:19

I don't know - I recognised it but don't know who did it. It is cak.

Pip · 16/11/2005 16:19

swings, I think he'd actually fall about laughing! More French & Saunders than Saturday Night Fever I think!!

swings · 16/11/2005 16:20

I'll 'take a load off' then whatever that means. I think you've made more comments about me than I have about you. BUT if you look back over this thread there are at least two other posters who've commented on your style of response. I guess they need one of your 'chill pills' too.

But you're right it's not interesting. It's not a 'larf'. No more for me.

expatinscotland · 16/11/2005 16:23

TBH, I can't be bothered looking back on this thread to take a popularity vote.

Especially as it's nearly a week old and someone resurrected it days later.

shannen · 16/11/2005 16:23

Who did the Guy Richie name change?? ROFL

shannen · 16/11/2005 16:24

expatinscotland · 16/11/2005 16:26

Err, so Saadia reckons male vocalist don't appear in videos semi clad.

Take That, Peter Andree, N Sync, Back Street Boys, Robbie, Boyzone, New kids on the block, shall I go on?

doormat · 16/11/2005 16:31

expatinscotland · 16/11/2005 16:32

doormat · 16/11/2005 16:33

expatinscotland · 16/11/2005 16:36

'well he does have a huge set of lungs '

And now he's got a huge wedding ring erm . . . thingy.

saadia · 16/11/2005 16:38

They are not as overtly sexual though as some of the Madonna vids and concerts.

And the norm for female artists now seems to be to undress - look at Jessica Simpson, she started off as a Christian singer but her "Boots are Made for Walking" video was quite explicit. It seems that female artists now have to do this if they are to be successful. I know there are exceptions (Enya) but this is now the norm. Perhaps it is not all down to Madonna, but I think she started the trend.

I do actually like her songs, but I just do not see her as a person with credibility or integrity (or intelligence).

shannen · 16/11/2005 16:40

Think youre right Saadia. Shes an old trollope.
