I never did, either, Tinker. At the age when she was 'big', I was very into European cinema and wanted to emulate Jeanne Moreau, not some cheapy looking trollop wearing rubber bracelets whose only talent appeared to be grabbing her crotch on camera. BFD.

That face always reminded me of a fox who'd been hit in the mouth with a crowbar.

Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

expatinscotland · 16/11/2005 14:21

Now I'll tell you who looks absolutely amazing for her age: Susan Sarandon. Wow! Can't believe she's in her 40s. Had three kids as well.

Rhubarb · 16/11/2005 14:21

Quote: "She had a huge influence on how we dressed"

Speak for yourself, I prefer not to look like a whore!

"She has a huge influence on pop, stars like Britany and Aguillera."

That should be a capital punishment in itself! Just think, without her we wouldn't have to suffer those little tarts!

"When 'vogue' comes on many of us are up there 'voguing' spinning back in time"

Speak for yourself - again! I bet you dance to the Conga too!

"She helped make it ok to be a 'slut' and a mother."

Is this ok?

"She may not be the most talented woman but she certainly knows how to reinvent herself and make huge amounts of money."

That I will agree with.

expatinscotland · 16/11/2005 14:21

Jodie Foster looks pretty damn good for mid-40s as well.

noddyholder · 16/11/2005 14:23

she did not make it ok to be a slut and a mother there were plenty of those before her

Kidstrack2 · 16/11/2005 14:23

Think Madonna is ageing fast, but if I look half as good as her when i reach that age I'll be happy!

Rhubarb · 16/11/2005 14:23

LOL @ Noddyholder!

gingerbear · 16/11/2005 14:24

LOL suzywong, "she has cold eyes"

our Lunchtime Court at Work: preferred her when she was aggressive and stroppy to her simpering on parky (only one of us - not me - had seen it).

To sum up: Over-rated. And hate that lycra/flicked hair look. uuughhhhh.

bundle · 16/11/2005 14:28

community service at least for aguilera/spears.

doormat · 16/11/2005 14:28

eeaney I started that thread on bitchy
rhubarb is entitled to her opinion just as we all are

Rhubarb · 16/11/2005 14:29

Just discussing your points EeeneyMeeney, that is what MN is all about, differing opinions! I actually agreed with you on one of them!

Sorry if Madonna is so important to you. I take the piss because really I cannot believe that anyone would actually get upset on her behalf when they don't even know her! But you are obviously very serious in your defence of her. Hope she's worth it.

foxinsocks · 16/11/2005 14:29

I don't like the flicked hair look either. Why is that so popular? Almost every new weather/news person seems to go for that style of haircut aswell.

And I'm not the one saying that I'm a slut!

How about respecting yourself a bit more?

shannen · 16/11/2005 14:30

Ex Pat - I was shocked at how old Jodie Foster looked the other day (not in her new film I might add) but being interviewed somewhere.

Have to agree about Madge though. Yes she has a terrific body for her age (well for any age) but she has surely had a face lift or something, she looks terrible. Her phoney accent is bloody irritating too. And all the black and white footage of her 'normal' night out to the boozer left me feeling a bit icky.

bundle · 16/11/2005 14:30

foxinsocks - FV's (fashion victims)

Rhubarb · 16/11/2005 14:30

Oh, but I do disagree that she has had a huge influence. Sorry.

You said it!

expatinscotland · 16/11/2005 14:32

I think Jodie looks good for her age as she's 'unaltered'. Not that there's anything wrong w/cosmetic surgery. I'd have it myself if I could .

But I gotta hand it to Susan Sarandon and Julie Christie for being classy, sexy mature ladies w/o having to resort to the trash look.

Oh, and Tina Turner, too. She's well into her 60s and still looking awesome.

shannen · 16/11/2005 14:33

As for being a slut and a mother, I wouldn't fancy being Lourdes and being presented with a copy of Sex. Look at what mum done in her younger days! Huurah!!

doormat · 16/11/2005 14:35

or slurping britneys grid on national tv

foxinsocks · 16/11/2005 14:35

bundle - of course! - thank gawd I've never felt the need to be one of those (ps notice how quickly that Rebeccah Wade stuff has disappeared - Murdoch the all powerful)
