just seen a trailer with the gorgeous Captain Jack and Gwen. No idea when it will be shown bit I'm so happyyyy. We really thought they'd killed it off with the last series.

Anyone know when it's coming??!!

Sorry Quite !!

PortBlacksandIsleOfDogs · 28/07/2011 23:25

oooh he is feeling his mortality (and quite alot besides Wink) There was a vary similar call from Gwen to him in a past series iirc. Interesting all she wants is her family....

Totally agree, not Torchwood. As for being american, I did find it a bit patronising wearing having all the 'subtle' explanations about different words. Who'd have thought that americans call crisps chips and trousers pants? I was shocked! Hmm

I think it is for the American audience. A reverse way to learn British terms.

2shoes · 29/07/2011 10:31

i like it, but it has lost the torchwood feel

Wamster · 29/07/2011 10:41

Agree that Gwen now jars completely with rest of cast. Having her in programme makes the programme less credible not more.

DottyDot · 29/07/2011 10:53

I'm so disappointed with it Sad Used to love the way it could do flirty yet serious and great script writing. Now everything seems so formulaic and I actually don't care about anyone in it. Even the steamy bits last night didn't do it for me - no 'sexyness' in it. When I think back to that amazing scene in the bar between Jack and Spike (as he will be forever in my head!)... Blush

Sticking with it, just to see it through to the end, but I'm not enjoying it, which seems all wrong...

ExitPursuedByAGryffin · 29/07/2011 10:57

I am really disappointed in it too. I keep falling asleep which doesn't help. And I really struggle to hear what is being said. They gabble.

MurielTheActor · 29/07/2011 11:01

Exactly Dotty!
Don't they know that's why we watch it?? Blush

Loathe the blonde - hopeless. US shows full of identkit skinny talentless blondes and she's just another.

There will be aliens I'm sure - I mean it's Torchwood goddammit, it's what they do!

Quenelle · 29/07/2011 13:42

It's ok I suppose. I like Rex and the doctor. I loved Rex's 'I paid for a bridge' line in episode 1. We too were initiated with Children of Earth. Even though I never want to see that series again (some of the images still won't leave meSad) it made us go back and watch S1 and 2.

The worst thing about this one is DH and I can't hear a word they're saying! Especially that blonde CIA bint. She really needs to enunciate!

I think it's because the music is too loud. Anyone else having this problem? It's making the story really hard to follow.

whatkungfuthat · 29/07/2011 17:02

It's getting right on my tits now. Gwen's voice sounds freakishly deep compared to the tiny american women and its just not Torchwood.

vogonmothership · 29/07/2011 17:10

Yes, can't hear a word blondie is saying, it's not her accent, Quenelle is right, she doesn't enunciate. And I wish she would lose the stupidly high shoes.
I like a bit of sauciness, but was there any point at all to the bar room/sex scene? It just seemed like a safe sex advert.
At least things happened last night. Eve Myles is lush but they have made her look like a potato.
Sigh

Quenelle · 29/07/2011 17:14

And I was glad when that poison one on the plane bought it. I never heard a word she said.

notcitrus · 29/07/2011 17:28

I preferred ep3 to the previous ones, but god it's slow and the plot is plodding. The script was a lot better though, thanks presumably to Jane Espenson (Buffy).
I think the JB sex scene was to create the moment when he was talking to Gwen going 'we're a team! Aren't we?' and Gwen was too busy being dewy-eyed over Rhys and baby to answer.

Jilly is so annoying she has to be supremely evil. Would be nice if Rex and JB could banter a bit more and jockey for alpha-male position, instead of Rex buggering off and just being shouty and agressive with everyone else. I like the doctor, though.

If you're having trouble understanding, switch the subtitles on!

PortBlacksandIsleOfDogs · 29/07/2011 17:33

I love the Drs accent though - the NY accent is fab on a woman. i was similarly drooly over Hightower's accent in The Mentalist (and i believe i am mostly straight)....

WitchoftheBog · 31/07/2011 01:01

I agree - they gabble. Makes me really cross. And all the typical American put downs irritate me. Lazy scripting imho.

I am very disappointed in this series. Felt really down after Thursday's episode. What mystifies me is why the BBC let it go to America? It was such a high quality different series, very popular, great charisma but now it is just like other cheap American series. Russell T Davies has sold his soul to the devil!

HarrietJones · 31/07/2011 09:09

BBC wouldn't given enough money for it. America prefers Torchwood to Who

Bunbaker · 31/07/2011 19:01

I am "watching" episode 2 and finding it too American and rather boring. I'm not sure I am going to bother with the rest of the series unless it improves dramatically.

Chipotle · 31/07/2011 19:08

I'm finding it very dull. Not sure I'm going to bother watching the rest of the series.

Bunbaker · 31/07/2011 21:18

I wonder what the UK viewing figures are like.

WhoWhoWhoWho · 04/08/2011 17:35

I missed last week's episode (am in UK) - can someone give me a basic outline of what happened please?? I missed it because I forgot it was on Shock this has never happened before.

Want to watch tonight's episode and give it a chance, will see how I feel in a few weeks I think.

HarrietJones · 04/08/2011 21:00

Hoping for aliens more action tonight

ALittleDarkAndOutOfKey · 04/08/2011 22:08

Aliens have to be involved sometime soon surely - talk of it being planned for decades and them being all around us etc.

Niiiiice trapped 'St Elmos Fire' woman in crushed car - bleurgh

i find i am enjoying it more if i think of it as a long USA drama rather than Torchwood - the other two don't even know Jack's backstory ffs....
