just seen a trailer with the gorgeous Captain Jack and Gwen. No idea when it will be shown bit I'm so happyyyy. We really thought they'd killed it off with the last series.

Anyone know when it's coming??!!

I guessed Smile

talkingnonsense · 15/09/2011 22:23

Well think they should all go back to Cardiff, rescue undead atomised Owen from the reactor, and set him jack and Rex in a room together. Preferably naked. Make it mare lighthearted and maybe add Capt john.

MegBusset · 15/09/2011 22:24

Thanks, pretty glad I stopped at ep3 tbh Grin

Dumbledoresgirl · 15/09/2011 22:29

talkingnonsense - you aren't! (talking nonsense)

I would watch that. Well, I have no idea what that whole series was about - sci fi is not really my thing - but even I predicted the ending wrt Rex. I love the thought of him and jack stuck with each other for eternity. Good stuff.

AitchTwoOh · 15/09/2011 22:30

BUT WHAT WAS THE POINT OF IT ALL, EH? the fucking families were already all-powerful, what did they stand to gain by making everyone immortal? I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IT WAS ALL ABOUT.

but i did like the working mother guilt line. Grin

did you not all HOOT at the Johnny Jazz Hands Ejaculate Body Towards Big Minge Moment? i was weeping.

teejwood · 15/09/2011 22:30

talkingnonsense you are doing anything but
capt'n john back in the fold? oh yeah....
and i still cling to the hope that owen might make it back some day.... after all, he was only undead in a nuclear reactor. surely that's a piece of piss in tw terms?!

teejwood · 15/09/2011 22:32

x post dumbledoresgirl Grin

this is what i get for trying to post while re-watching the last ep of the (danish) killing....
can't wait for s2 of that, now...

PortBlackSandWitchIsThere · 15/09/2011 22:34

Ah Aitch - you have the advantage of still not being immediatly stunned by the overall storyline....

....in the days and weeks to come we too shall consider what the point of it was and mostly decide there was none....

....10 hours of my life gone, plus yours, plus say, several million others .....

....it must be an alien conspiracy to waste several hundred million hours of our earthly lives....

AitchTwoOh · 15/09/2011 22:36

oh and DO NOT get me started on the killing. i had him bang to rights in ep 1.

teejwood · 15/09/2011 22:36

re the family - weren't they just supercharged ultra right wing tories, keen to rid the planet of all the people who offended their sight/smell/intelligence/level of disposable income??

PortBlackSandWitchIsThere · 15/09/2011 22:38

There is a black hole right now that has sucked in those 10 hours of my life .... and a wasted little me at the bottom lamenting the time i could have spent perusing the internet and the time team episodes on the history channel i have lost to torchwood....

teejwood · 15/09/2011 22:38

aitch me tooooo re the killing! but i still luffed watching the way it played out Grin
20 eps and they still didn't get him...then you watch spiral where they manage to bang up at least 100 perps every episode while still having an over-reaching story arc. god i love bbc4

PortBlackSandWitchIsThere · 15/09/2011 22:39

....even the ones where Tony Robinson has a jazzy shirt and a mullet .....

teejwood · 15/09/2011 22:40

i've had Wine which i think has helped.

and the thought that esther at least won't be back is cheering Grin

teejwood · 15/09/2011 22:41

and aitch yy to the working mother guilt line -dp turned to me and said "oh you like that one, don't you?"

AitchTwoOh · 15/09/2011 22:42

yeah, but that doesn't make any sense. the ruling class is nothing with no one to rule. it was just a big SO FARKING WHAT, a total plot afterthought. it started with 'what if no one died?' (brilliant) and never bothered to develop anything like a valid reason for why such an enormous change took place.

oh but i am watching 'closing time' and matt smith keeps kissing a baby's head and so all is well with the world.

teejwood · 15/09/2011 22:45

bloody hell, aitch, you have found melody pond and the doctor Grin

Inti · 15/09/2011 22:46

Hi
I've been lurking since I joined mumsnet on this thread - thanks for a load of laughs - my fave has to be the suggested drinking game for all of the obvious potential drinks!
I've watched every episode of Torchwood and every episode of DW until MS took over - just don't get it now.
So... my questions are
1 - How did the families know mortal blood either end would change the world to the other way round? ie to Miracle day?
2 - what were they doing next? ie what was their next step?
3 - what did they find first - bleeding/dying Jack in 1940s NY or the vagina?
4 - How did Angelo have that thing under his bed?
5 - chances of another TW?
Thanks!! xx

Pixel · 15/09/2011 22:47

I can't make any sense of it either. The more I think about it the worse it gets so I'll just give up and join in the sigh of relief that Esther snuffed it.

teejwood · 15/09/2011 22:47

aitch they would rule over people they approved of, kind of, in a begrudging way.... but burn to cinders while still alive any gypsies, jews, gays - oh sorry wrong group of nutters Hmm

TashHag · 15/09/2011 22:50

I didn't think the Families were all-powerful yet, though, were they - just a lot of moles in high places and control of Phi Corp, but I think they still had a way to go before they achieved total power.

I wasn't terribly surprised by Rex surviving, but then that was what the Wikipedia article said - that Esther & Oswald died, but not Rex (this is Rusty btw, just trying out a new name)

Maybe Rex's immortality is only temporary, until his body has replaced all of Jack's blood cells, because he only had the blood, whereas Jack presumably had the Time Vortex running through his whole body?

AitchTwoOh · 15/09/2011 22:51

i mean, how shit is it that what exposed jack's immortality/blood (huh? even jack said this isn't how it works) to the rest of humanity is his ratty boyfriend who immediately says 'oops, sorry'. i mean FFS.

teejwood · 15/09/2011 22:52

y'see - dp and i used to be disappointed every series when gwen survived. this series it was a toss up between rex and esther for most annoying person and esther bought it, so we are kind of happy for a change...

teejwood · 15/09/2011 22:58

1 - How did the families know mortal blood either end would change the world to the other way round? ie to Miracle day?
because they introduced jack's immortal blood to both ends at the same time to create miracle day
2 - what were they doing next? ie what was their next step?
to incinerate everyone they did not like
3 - what did they find first - bleeding/dying Jack in 1940s NY or the vagina?
vagina
4 - How did Angelo have that thing under his bed?
he nicked it from the rubble of the Hub the thieving scumbag
5 - chances of another TW?
starz say they would like one - RTD may still be undecided. most viewers would like them to have learnt a few lessons from this time around tho'

Inti · 15/09/2011 23:01

ok thanks but who came up with the idea of giving blood at both ends at the same time?? I know how they did it but why would anyone have thought of doing it in the first place??!! or is that an inconvenient question RTD would avoid?!

Angelo - what was the rubble of the hub? can't remember??
