What do you think of this? And when does it start? Could you stand the wait over the summer, or is it a godsend?

"think it is Amy's baby, but that it is not a normal pregnancy, and I think the Silence have put it there - perhpas that's why the scanner was flicking pos/neg - editing itself out of the scanner maybe?"

Now that is genius. of COURSE why didn't I think of that!?

""How about shagging in the alcoves at Kate and Wills' wedding, have we done that?" "Oh they get married? How delightful..." "

Grin That'd have made more youtube clips than the cartwheeling prelate!

saggarmakersbottomknocker · 01/05/2011 09:21

Thanks for the rundown huggly

Before the Doctor went to talk to the Spaceman at the lake, Amy saw a Silence/Silent. How do we know it didn't suggest something to her/the Doctor/River/other bloke or even the Spaceman which is what resulted in the Doctor being shot?

And didn't someone mention that Rose was coming back this series? Is the little timelord-esque girl her...?

mumatron · 01/05/2011 10:29

the Doctor definately noticed something when amy saw the silence at the lake. the silence must have been suggesting something to someone (presumably whoever was in the spacesuit) don't see why it was there otherwise.

JackieNo · 01/05/2011 10:29

DH reckoned that the positive/negative pregnancy scan was because of an unresolved temporal something or other, basically, it depended on something else happening that hadn't happened yet, and might or might not happen in the future/past. I didn't really understand what he was on about. Or maybe she's preganant with \link{http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schr%C3%B6dinger's_cat\Schrodinger's} cat kitten Grin?

PinotGrigiosKittens · 01/05/2011 10:33

I hope Rose doesn't come back - it's moved on alot since her.

seeksnewnamewithgsoh · 01/05/2011 10:46

Clown, that's brilliant!

I don't think the girl is the space man that shoots the doctor. It could be another future doctor, shooting himself to stop the universe ripping apart again

I don't want Rose back either, but it would be interesting to see what the chemistry is like between her and this doctor.

ComeAlongPond · 01/05/2011 11:30

I thought that Jackie, about the pregnancy I mean. But I couldn't make it make sense in my mind enough to type it out logically.

I don't want Rose back. She's my least favourite Dr Who character ever, after Christopher Ecclestone.

Do we think the Silence are scarier than the weeping angels, then? They seem to be quite widely accepted as the scariest so far, but aren't the Silence supposed to be worse?

Also, I was wondering, if you forget the Silence as soon as you look away, how were all those aliens in the last series talking about them? All that "We ran from the silence" etc etc. Shouldn't they have forgotten them?

JackieNo · 01/05/2011 11:50

Oh yes, something that DS spotted, not sure if it's significant - in the children's home, in the little girl's room, one of the pictures on the wall looked to me like a picture of a girl dancing, but DS looked at it and said it was a picture of the head of one of the Silence, upside down - have a look, on iplayer, at 19.53, you can see it in the background behind Amy's head. It was strange, because I couldn't see it at first, like one of those optical illusion things, but DS saw it straight away.

Northumberlandlass · 01/05/2011 13:09

Have just watched it with DS this morning.....my mind is slowly colapsing and I don't understand......

BUT, it was brilliant !

I love not understanding DW.

WildhoodChunder · 01/05/2011 14:30

Been thinking more about the Silence at the lake - if it popped up before the Doctor got shot, it could have put a post-hypnosis suggestion in so that everyone thought that they saw the Doctor die. But actually he didn't. Which would get around the 'Doctor being dead' problem.

HarrietJones · 01/05/2011 14:48

Going to watch both together now.

LilyBolero · 01/05/2011 16:42

Perhaps when Amy thought she was pregnant before, the Silence hypnotised her to think she was?

LilyBolero · 01/05/2011 18:44

Kids have just watched it again, occurred to me that the Silence/Silents had Amy for 5 days (as it was from between the Apollo XI launch to the Eagle landing on the moon). Easily time enough to implant a baby. And he said "Amelia Pond - we honour you - you will bring the Silence" - got to be via her baby, put there by the Silence. And she said in an interview that a 'throwaway line' would prove to be very significant - perhaps when she was talking with the Dr about whether her baby would be normal, or might be affected by time travel - perhaps it is something other than a regular baby????

bronze · 01/05/2011 19:10

Jackie- I can see it but I'm not sure if it was intentional. there should be more of a gap under the right arm to make a decent eye like their is on the other side

Regarding scaryness I never managed to watch the angels. The only one I chickened out of. I'm quiote wussy and I've always had to watch DW after everyone else has gone to bed. This series though D is watching with me so maybe that's why I'm not so scared. the suspense is worse than when they are there though

Arcadie · 01/05/2011 20:39

JackieNo I spotted that too! on my second watching.

Still think the pgnancy thing is a scanner keeps forgetting issue. Although Schrodinger idea is a goodun - bit like the photo on Back to the Future - a litmus test of whether the future is following a certain course or not.

Also really want to go back and watch last series too but REALLY should do some more parenting!

Pixel · 01/05/2011 22:15

I've watched it again and I'm really none the wiser. Just wondering exactly how River managed to land in the TARDIS swimming pool when it was on its side/back/whatever? A bit picky I know but it's strange how it seemed to make perfect sense the first time I saw it!

c0rn51lk · 01/05/2011 22:17

I loved it when River jumped off the building because I knew the Doctor would catch her but they did so in such a crappy way

ComeAlongPond · 01/05/2011 22:33

Oh yes, I have a question about that (it's not really relevant to the whole complex plot thing, at all, I've just been wondering.) So - Canton chases River, she escapes by jumping off the building, knowing the Doctor would catch her. Canton goes off to tell the Doctor she's jumped off the building, he zooms the TARDIS there, and she lands in it. Hurrah.

But presumably, it took Canton longer to go to the Doctor and tell him than it would for River to hit the floor? So she would have actually died, but the Doctor went back in time and stopped it happening?

Is that what happened? I wouldn't have thought he was allowed to go around doing that.

PortBlackSandwitch · 01/05/2011 23:38

It's not the first time she's jumped off a high building / spaceship and said he's catch her....he can take as long as he wants as long as he's there at the right moment in time...

Did anyone else spot that the little girl was from Marchlands and played Alex Kingston's daughter in that obv....hmmmmm

Pixel · 01/05/2011 23:41

Anyone else been watching Casualty? I keep thinking that Miriam could be River Song's mum. Grin

c0rn51lk · 01/05/2011 23:41

BUT,....why did no-one go to look for her - she was right there!

PortBlackSandwitch · 01/05/2011 23:46

Must admit that Alex Kingston is fab in the part - not many actresses could pull it off without being tooo smug and irritating (and a bit too milf). But i'm glad her story is apparently coming to an end as i'd hate the whole series to be about her....no wonder she told DT in the library that he looked old - if she'd been used to MS Grin

Pixel · 01/05/2011 23:53

Yes agree she is great, not many people could manage to make the character so likeable while being clever and cheeky. Even when she flies the TARDIS better than the Doctor, she manages to avoid coming across as an irritating know-it-all.

wrigglerstea · 01/05/2011 23:56

Maybe they didn't go to look for her because she is part silent and therefore they sort of forgot about her...
