What do you think of this? And when does it start? Could you stand the wait over the summer, or is it a godsend?

Looking forward to this. And I believe there's going to be Torchwood during the summer some time, though not sure exactly when - it's being done jointly by the BBC and some US channel I think, so I'm not sure how that'll turn out Hmm

HarrietJones · 01/04/2011 17:56

Which is the Neil Gaiman one ? I looked on IMDB at the rough lay out but it's not that accurate. Seems loads of River though!

CaptainNancy · 01/04/2011 20:21

I think Gaiman's is ep 4?

Yes, lots of River I believe.

LilyBolero · 01/04/2011 22:02

Neil Gaiman's was going to be ep 3, but I know that the episode scheduled to be ep4 has been shifted to the 2nd block of episodes.

I have only just seen the new trailer - it loks amazing!www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/dw/videos/p00g0jpb

ComeAlongPond · 02/04/2011 11:40

Ooooooooh.

I am excited. Very, very excited.

I'm jealous of all you lot who have had filming near your house.

My sister is due to have another baby in two months and her little one wants to call it Doctor if it's a boy or Tardis if it's a girl Hmm

HarrietJones · 03/04/2011 18:00

Just listening to the Dr Who podcast, they're going through the trailer & have spotted loads of geeky detail , interesting...

JackieNo · 04/04/2011 10:02

Apologies if I've missed a thread somewhere, but did you see that \link{http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-1372117/Doctor-Who-dynasty-David-Tennant-Georgia-Moffett-celebrate-birth-daughter.html\David Tennant and Georgia Moffett have had a baby?}

HarrietJones · 04/04/2011 10:28

I hadn't seen that ( actually don't think I saw she was pgBlush)

UnquietDad · 04/04/2011 12:50

Leonie - not true about the ratings. It's always in the Top 20, often the Top 10, shows for the week. If you look at the actual figures, it rarely wavers much more than a million or so above the 8m average. Some people catch up with the repeats on BBC3 or recorded time-shift. Even on a "bad" day, its ratings are on a par with those of Silent Witness, Waking The Dead, Spooks and Casualty.

It's the highest-rated drama outside the soaps.

The Xmas special usually gets about 3-4m extra viewers.

By any measure, Doctor Who is doing spectacularly well.

(Sorry, bit of a hobby-horse... too much time spent on Who forum arguing against those whose "agenda" is to prove the show is no longer popular! Not that I am suggesting you share this.)

UnquietDad · 04/04/2011 12:51

Sorry, I mean rarely wavers more than a million or so BELOW...

I know Mr Telly Topping too and I know he'd disagree with you! Sorry! The weather only means that people watch DW later rather than "live." The overall average figure since it came back has barely changed.

ShowOfHands · 04/04/2011 13:23

Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

I don't like Pond but I like the plastic centurion. And River's really great. Am v excited.

UnquietDad · 04/04/2011 13:24

Why all the Pond hate?

Some people feel the same way about River Song too. I know some long term fans who genuinely cannot bear to watch a scene with her in.

It must be because "Doctor Who" has never had strong, knowing, ironic, playful female characters before.... erm...

ShuffleBallChange · 04/04/2011 13:30

DS1, age 5 is soooooooooo excited, as am I!! Wink

ShowOfHands · 04/04/2011 13:47

I don't like Pond because she never speaks when she can shout in a deep voice and she never has a facial expression when she can flick her hair and growl instead.

She's just a bit busy. She should shush a bit.

jeee · 04/04/2011 13:53

Pond pouts. She pouts in response to aliens/danger/Rory/the Doctor.... She just pouts.

ShowOfHands · 04/04/2011 13:55

Yes pouting, that too. She's Pouty McGrowly.

FoofffyShmoofffer · 04/04/2011 14:03

I wonder if the dislike isn't so much of River Song the character as Alex Kingston the Actor.

She is good don't get me wrong but not whom I would have imagined for the Doctors wife in the future/past.

She's a bit ...mumsy for me.
Desperately trying to think of an actor I would have preferred.

HarrietJones · 04/04/2011 15:07

I like river & Rory. Pond wears short skirts & is a bit pouty & thinks everyone fancies her. She is better than Daphne Martha though.

ComeAlongPond · 04/04/2011 15:27

I like River and Pond. The pouting is excessive though.
