What do you think of this? And when does it start? Could you stand the wait over the summer, or is it a godsend?

She can pout and wear short skirts all she likes. Doctor Who is being run by a heterosexual middle-aged man for the first time since the 1970s, and I'm enjoying every minute! Wink

Abcinthia · 05/04/2011 11:44

I'm looking forward to it! My DD is very excited. She saw the new trailer for it on Sunday and told me that when she grows up, she wants to be Rory Grin

HarrietJones · 08/04/2011 08:42

Has the new trailer had a bit added? Don't remember the blue man being in it before

CatPower · 08/04/2011 09:38

Far too excited for this, my DS was hooked last series, although there was plenty of hiding behind the sofa from him! DP and I have watched the trailer trying to pause each scene to work out what's going on. So far, pretty clueless (apart from the DT-era tardis in one scene...), bring on the 23rd!

KayHarker · 08/04/2011 17:19

Yes, we noticed the coral TARDIS. And I quite like both Mr and Mrs Pond. I love River and am slightly nervous about what the truth is behind her, I like the ongoing mystery.

Ripeberry · 09/04/2011 22:11

Wow! Congratulations to David Tennant. My two favourite doctors are now related and their new daughter/grangdaughter has my childhood nickname.
Priceless! Smile

can i say as a DW viewer for several decades i LOVE river and thanks to her my 5yo DD will now point at a pair of shoes and say "they're like river song shoes mummy" but...
and i hate to say it as i love the moff...
the last series left me a tad underwhelmed. so many great, iconic characters - liz 10, churchill, van gogh and yet.....
i felt like i'd had a mcDs rather than a michelin starred meal.
the thing that always pissed me off about old Who was the number of female companions who managed to get caught by the alien of the week and then squeal. and in terms of new who - i'm looking at YOU, martha jones!!! so many great stories that season let down by poor characterisation/acting of Ms Jones, IMHO.
pond isn't quite that bad but still does not emotionally, intellectually or morally challenge the Doctor. she's a looker in a short skirt who is there to please the dads like...well.. UQD.

teej · 09/04/2011 23:29

Meant to say - Kay - we saw the coral set at the DR Who Exhibition and i may have had a tear in my eye . but then the old 80's set and K-9 kind of had a similar effect [grins]

TheSmallPrint · 12/04/2011 10:25

Hello, can I join you in the excitement? DS1 and I will be glued to the sofa on the 23rd.

HarrietJones · 18/04/2011 10:59

5 days to go to D day!

LittleWhiteWolf · 18/04/2011 20:54

Place marking. I adore Eleven and I can stomach Pond, think Rory is brilliant. LOVE River.

I'm happy about the next series. I'm very excited Grin

HarrietJones · 19/04/2011 19:35

3 days ...

DH is prepped and ready to go for Saturday. He is Dr Who uber geek, he has seen every single episode ever made, and I mean EVER. I only started watching it with him the past two series, really like Matt Smith as the Doctor. However watching it with DH can be quite annoying as he is the uber geek who gets all the references and has all sorts of theories, which he delights telling to my "don't give a shit" face. I get all sort of joyful facts like when the cybermen first appeared in the show and the history of the Daleks and the inconsistencies in the story according to the show, "why did they say that when in episode blah blah with blah the daleks said they did blah not blah". you can imagine...

sorry slightly off topic, just had to stop myself from banging my head against the wall hearing his theories as the what the new x-men film will/will not include. i really did marry a geek.

HarrietJones · 20/04/2011 08:07

Elisabeth sladen has died :(

Snapespeare · 20/04/2011 13:21

re-place-marking and being sad about Sarah Jane.

MinnieBar · 21/04/2011 16:28

Can someone remind me what happened at the end of the last series and/or special? I seem to remember that Something Very Significant happened but can't remember what it was Blush

HarrietJones · 21/04/2011 16:50

The pandorica opening was the last episode.
The tardis was exploding and they still don't know why was the main link into this series I think. That & River . The dalek was scared of her.

KayHarker · 21/04/2011 17:37

Loved that bit with River and the dalek - Mercy...-Say it again-... Mercy ...-One more time- /cut. Just brilliant.

And yes, still very sad about Sarah Jane, though I still like to think she's ok and running around Bannerman Road looking impossibly youthful and sprightly.

MinnieBar · 21/04/2011 18:14

That rings a vague bell (in my defence, I was rather sleep-deprived around the time of the last series).

I like to think Sarah Jane and the Brigadier are having tea and scones somewhere while reminiscing...

MinnieBar · 21/04/2011 18:20

Ok just looked up that scene on Youtube, very good (and I remember it now!!).

Any other big happenings that might reflect on the next series?

Miggsie · 21/04/2011 18:25

Rory is fantastic, but I wish Amy Pond would get deportment classes and stand with better posture. She always stands as though her tampon has slipped down and she is trying not to let it get out of her knicker leg...yes, she does!!!!!!!!!!

ComeAlongPond · 22/04/2011 15:11

Oh, Miggsie! Now that's all I'll see when she's on screen!

I love that River-Dalek scene, too. "Where's the dalek?" "It died."

MilkNoSugarPlease · 23/04/2011 00:42

River is absolutely WONDERFUL! I LOVE her!

I much prefer Matt Smith to David Tennant personally....he grated on me by the end....Always loved Billie Piper but I reckon Roses's relationship would only work with DTs Doctor, not MS's...same with the delectable John Barrowman

I THINK I like Amy...!

Snapespeare · 23/04/2011 06:51

Can't sleep! Too excited!

HarrietJones · 23/04/2011 08:44

Less than 10 hours!!!
