Hello Smokin. I'm about two mins delayed. Boyd had a flashback and thought that was his son.

This is heartrenching tonight. So so sad

I like that this was his first case apparently, and one that he hadnt been able to move on with. Hopefully it will give him some closure.

Yes -on the basis that McGann is too famous to have a bit part -this theory works with all crime dramas when you spot a very famous actor in a seemingly peripheral role (Marple, Poirot, Lewis et.al)
