cant sleep keep thinkin bout thursday. ds gettin his results n my stomach just turns over every time i think of it. i feel like if he dont get what he needs then i failed him as a mum.

hes such a quiet boy, keeps to himself, xbox n music, but hes had same help as the other kids so what if it werent enough?? i keep picturing him openin that envelope n its all fails 😢 what will happen then??

i been cryin in the bathroom tonight so the others dont see. just wanna protect him but i cant do this bit for him.

any other mums feel like this?? like u just wanna take it away from them.

Sweetheart Everyone will have gone home. The serious folks will have been there first thing this morning.

Yes I am really surprised by this. Where I work the phone was ringing non stop from 8:01 to about 11 in regards to urgent items like a 3 maths. Whilst OP has been making vast improvements on understanding her child’s education… this is a poor. Overall he’s done really well and should be proud but there are two grades that are super important to get a 4 and he didn’t.

Lambtangine · 21/08/2025 16:48

Surely his school will have impressed upon him and his mum the importance of going to talk to college first thing (or phoning them!) given that he didn’t get what he needed in his Maths?

we’re on our way now promise! 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️ he wanted his cake and a bit of time to let it sink in but bags are packed and folder with the papers in it is in my hand. thank you all for the push and the kind words, means a lot 💐

After 4 o’clock? I sincerely hope you haven’t missed the people you need to talk to. Cake could have waited.

She has already previously posted that she never logged into any of her children’s pupil portals. She has over the summer spent time building her understanding of the education system so not trying to drag OP as she has clearly taken a lot on board - more saying that as someone who works as an exams officer that the school is not to blame!!

I live in the same area as OP (going by previous posts) & our local colleges are enrolling until 6 or 7pm today, so hopefully they will be able to get it sorted today.

ChangingChances89 · 21/08/2025 17:13

we’re nearly there now, still open til 7 so it’s fine. he’s quiet but i think he’s a bit nervous bless him. got the folder and everything we need, just hope it goes smooth xx

Why are people so criticial! Not all colleges work the same. Sure the op knows the college is open late

SereneCoralDog · 21/08/2025 17:36

The chances that theres someone there at gone 5pm who's able to assess op's ds's grades AND enroll him are slim to none.

Yes...but 'open' doesnt mean the enrollment for school leavers will still be ongoing.

When ds1 enrolled at College last year it was a very well-timed event with different subject areas, results check, general info, transport hub, a mini presentation running every half hour between 10 and 2 etc.

You couldn't have just rocked up at 6pm on results day going 'I want to enroll'!

Hopefully the op is lucky but honestly, it's a silly risk to take.

Trying not to get over-invested …

Andsoitbeganagain · 21/08/2025 18:11

Just wanted to wish you and your boy all the best OP. My son was in a similar situation a couple of years ago and just last week received top grades in subjects he loves at A level. He will go to uni in September. Lots of kids resit maths alongside their A level subjects. The college will do all they can to help him.

ChangingChances89 · 21/08/2025 18:13

we made it in time they saw him and its all sorted hes on the course 🙏 im so so relieved. maths will be a resit but hes fine about it. honestly cant believe it’s worked out.

Andsoitbeganagain · 21/08/2025 18:17

Lovely update!

SpecialMilkMonitor · 21/08/2025 18:19

Relief! Now you can celebrate husbandry and his success properly.

What course , @ChangingChances89?

Think I just saw something about four out of ten GCSE students needing to re-take Maths?
