This is not for a specific event, just a dress in general. My daughter doesn't wear dresses usually, so I was surprised when she bought it. I don't mind her wearing a dress, but I still wanted to ask for opinions.😁

Enslaved people , that is a big claim. But thank you for your response

Not a massively big claim. They suspended a contract with a supplier after finding they used child labour, and another due to forced labour - investigations that came about for due diligence as they want to float on the stock market and get their ducks in a row. Would they have investigated otherwise? Will they do so again when it's no longer checked on?

BobbyBiscuits · 05/01/2025 22:48

Yes. Why wouldn't it be? Unless you're devoutly religious whereby women and girls shouldn't show their shoulders?
It's the type of dress that would suit any age from about six to 70. Assuming it fitted correctly for the person's build and height.

Ok, an unpopular view here, as possibly not politically correct, but from a practical viewpoint.

Its a lovely dress but it will bring her lots of attention due to its va voom style and how she will look in it tbh.

Is yr daughter confident, able to laugh off comments made, unwanted attention etc? if so, let her go ahead, if not, she'll possibly feel exposed and vulnerable.

15 is a difficult age and most girls are learning how to handle attention, welcome or not

Prepare her by having couple of put downs ready ensuring she's armed znd dangerous :). My niece's personal devouring was "dont sexualise me" in withering tones...

Otherwise, I'd suggest she put it away and waits a few years.

I think it's really surprising how often someone posts a picture of a tight or revealing dress and asks very specifically if it's suitable for a 15 yr old girl.

Yes it’s very interesting isn’t it 🤔

DoreenGrey · 06/01/2025 11:16

Only thing I would consider OP is what fabric the dress is made of. If it is very thin and therefore clingy, I would get her a slip to wear underneath, to make it hang better.

We live in a world where we should all be able to wear exactly what we like when we like. I would be happy for my DD to wear it depending on where and who is there. A friend went to a wedding evening party with their tall, beautiful 13 year old and said she had to guard her DD as she kept getting unwanted attention from much older males, possibly as the blokes were drinking but they seemed indifferent to her age!

Yuck. I remember, if anything, more unwanted male attention when I was underage than now.

Branleuse · 06/01/2025 13:08

its elegant and it covers both legs and cleavage. I think its nice and she probably feels really special and glamourous in it at a party

ThrillhouseVanHouten · 06/01/2025 15:46

The picture of the dress looks nice.

Shein and Temu aren't.

There are enough garments in the world to dress the next six generations. Yet they continue to churn out cheap plastic clothes, most of which are never worn.

Right here's my daughter (17) wearing this dress on holidayin a different colour. Clearly I've had to crop but honestly to the naked eye it was lovely on. She wore a silicone strapless bra (primark) and a seamless thong (the horror....) although you can make it out in the pic, I couldn't or I'd have told her!!!

CombatBarbie · 06/01/2025 19:38

Jeez, i totally get all the negative comments from shein but in today's world, it's fast fashion. Not all teens can afford Reiss, Zara etc etc even Primark for some clothing. Both my dds 12 +17 use shein because one season it's in, next it's out. Unlike 44 yr old me who doesn't give a flying monkeys......

poppymango · 07/01/2025 10:37

For the right occasion, absolutely! I wouldn't have been confident enough to wear this at 15 but I wish I had.

JHound · 07/01/2025 13:51

Link refuses to work for me.

Edited

Reiss and Zara are also fast fashion, and the real lesson is not to buy clothes just for a season.

Ghostgothemma · 07/01/2025 19:32

Honestly, it's a classy dress. If you feel that it's too old for her then maybe get her a cover for her shoulders. There are some gorgeous stoles etc out there.

Wherehavetheyallgone · 07/01/2025 22:45

Er no,....would make a 15 year old look old before her time. A couple of girls at my daughter's prom had this sort of thing on and they looked as if they were in their late 20's.

Also better to show the younger generation how to avoid cheap fashion if at all possible. Charity shops, Vinted, borrowing a dress from a friend or family members?
