Do you allow your 12+ yo DS and DD to have their phones / devices in their rooms at night?

No, absolutely not.

SheSparkles · 08/01/2017 20:00

No, and my 14 yo ds isn't allowed to either.

ivykaty44 · 08/01/2017 20:01

No as it's not known about the health risks and I don't have electrical devices in bedrooms - including TVs

stonecircle · 08/01/2017 20:01

Yes I did.

RJnomore1 · 08/01/2017 20:01

No

showchin · 08/01/2017 20:01

Nope and still nope at 14!

dailyshite · 08/01/2017 20:01

Only the 12 year old has a phone. At the moment he does, because I know he doesn't use it except as an alarm clock - if that changes it'll come out.

Littlefish · 08/01/2017 20:02

I have a 12 year old dd and she is not allowed any devices/phones after 9pm. All gadgets are left downstairs.

mogloveseggs · 08/01/2017 20:02

Dd is 12. Yes but it has to be switched off. That reminds me it's time for it to go off now.

228agreenend · 08/01/2017 20:02

14 and 17 - no.

catsofa · 08/01/2017 20:02

No!

Flumpsnlumpsnstuff · 08/01/2017 20:02

No never, all phones must be downstairs by 10pm or I cancel the contracts oh and they haven't got iPhones either Grin

VagueButExcitlng · 08/01/2017 20:03

My DD wasn't too bothered about her phone at 12. She was a complete bookworm. So I let her keep it in her room.

Now she's 15 and is completely hooked on it, and it's world war 3 to get her to part with it. I wish I'd stuck to the rules back then.

Sorry DS!

SirChenjin · 08/01/2017 20:03

Nope - and mine hated me for it too when they were that age Grin

GloriousSlug · 08/01/2017 20:03

No way, he would never sleep! (I have a 12yo).

MayhemandMadness01 · 08/01/2017 20:03

Mine are a bit older now - 15 and 17 and No, no phones / laptops / tablets allowed upstairs.

whyohwhy000 · 08/01/2017 20:05

Yes but he only uses it as an alarm.

Breezy1985 · 08/01/2017 20:05

My 12yo DD does, though she is pretty good with it and is asleep by 10pm on school nights, she currently uses it as an alarm clock.

Eggsbutnobacon · 08/01/2017 20:05

12+. No.
Originally I trusted him to leave it on the landing once he had gone to bed but then realised there were frequent trips to the toilet and that he was checking his phone en route.
Now all devices are brought downstairs at 9pm.

Needmyowndesertisland · 08/01/2017 20:05

No. 7.30 (school nights) devices are put to charge in the sitting room. Devices are not allowed upstairs at all.

Not a chance are they going upstairs. I want my children to sleep. The arsing about is bad enough without adding devices into the mix (dd2 is the only one without a device and her nose is sorely out of joint!)

Figure17a · 08/01/2017 20:06

No. 13 & 15 yos here and no devices allowed upstairs day or night.

I haven't got a lot of things right in thus parenting lark but implementing that rule was was a brilliant decision, if I say so myself!

It's not so much "the Internet" I worry about but social media/text etc. I remember home as a safe place if things weren't going well at school/ friendships were rocky/any bullying issues. Give school "friends" access to them 24/7 and they never get a break from it.

AndShesGone · 08/01/2017 20:06

No, not any age under 18 in my house. All devices gone at 9.

user1470997562 · 08/01/2017 20:07

No, no and 51 year old dh isn't allowed either.
