Only the 12 year old has a phone. At the moment he does, because I know he doesn't use it except as an alarm clock - if that changes it'll come out.

I have a 12 year old dd and she is not allowed any devices/phones after 9pm. All gadgets are left downstairs.

Dd is 12. Yes but it has to be switched off. That reminds me it's time for it to go off now.

My DD wasn't too bothered about her phone at 12. She was a complete bookworm. So I let her keep it in her room.

Now she's 15 and is completely hooked on it, and it's world war 3 to get her to part with it. I wish I'd stuck to the rules back then.

Originally I trusted him to leave it on the landing once he had gone to bed but then realised there were frequent trips to the toilet and that he was checking his phone en route.
Now all devices are brought downstairs at 9pm.

No. 7.30 (school nights) devices are put to charge in the sitting room. Devices are not allowed upstairs at all.

Not a chance are they going upstairs. I want my children to sleep. The arsing about is bad enough without adding devices into the mix (dd2 is the only one without a device and her nose is sorely out of joint!)

I haven't got a lot of things right in thus parenting lark but implementing that rule was was a brilliant decision, if I say so myself!

It's not so much "the Internet" I worry about but social media/text etc. I remember home as a safe place if things weren't going well at school/ friendships were rocky/any bullying issues. Give school "friends" access to them 24/7 and they never get a break from it.

No, not any age under 18 in my house. All devices gone at 9.

No, no and 51 year old dh isn't allowed either.
