Dd has literally been crying all night because she doesn't like her hair cut

Dd (13) has been asking for months to get her hair cut short -this has been a considered decision

Went yesterday to get it done and she hates it

The tears started about half an hour after she got home and haven't stopped

She's now saying she's not leaving the house, has cancelled plans to see friends, doesn't want anyone looking at her -its too short to tie up so I've no suggestions for her really

It actually looks really nice but she can't see that

What the hell do I do?

Cherry tree dye?ShockGrin

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 10/05/2015 15:49

Cherry red, I mean!

Is she allowed to use dye at school, it's an absolute no no at ds's?

PacificDogwood · 10/05/2015 15:51

Cool! Grin

LynetteScavo · 10/05/2015 16:09

Just me who is really scared she won't like the red once it's on?

18yearstooold · 10/05/2015 16:11

She's had it cherry red before, no issue at school and she likes the colour

Fingers crossed!!

Still, how much worse can it be...?

Did you buy some puppy food just in case?

Cocolepew · 10/05/2015 16:15

Cheaper than a puppy Grin
My DD went red the other week, she can't pass a mirror without admiring it Hmm

18yearstooold · 10/05/2015 16:17

No puppies!!! Grin

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 10/05/2015 16:21

Aww, aren't 13 year olds funny. I love the puppy comment. My DD2 used to ask for a unicorn. Confused

I hope she is feeling better soon. I bet she looks great.

specialsubject · 10/05/2015 17:31

I'm with the 'harsh' people.

she is old enough to understand consequences. And newsflash, it will grow again. Amazing, eh?

fortunately she isn't yet old enough for tattoos which ARE permanent. Let's hope she remembers this when that time comes!

BadgersArse · 10/05/2015 18:02

christ, she isnt still going on about it.

She needs some tough love now.

SoupDragon · 10/05/2015 18:09

She needs some tough love now.

I disagree. I think it sounds like the OP has done a good job.

I have a very similar cut and it needs the right products. I recommend a paste- the Schwarzkopf one in the Orange tub is great, as is the hairspray in the yellow bottle, also by Schwarzkopf. You need to put a tiny bit of paste through the hair to give it definition and then 'set' it with hairspray. Short hair is actually more work than long, and some hairdressers are better at cutting short hair. I pay £45 just for a cut every six weeks, as paying less for a junior stylist just results in a crap haircut.

You need good shaped brows- I get mine waxed every couple of months, and a decent amount of make-up because you have to work a little harder to stay feminine looking. I am 33, short and a size 16 so maybe a 13 year old will get away with less work!

My youngest dd who is now 18 has rarely had a hair cut which hasn't left her in tears.she had her haircut the other day, her big sister went with her, we take turns to share the trauma Grin. I phoned them while I was at work and was amazed to hear that she actually liked it.

However even on those occasions where she has come home in tears and thrown herself dramatically on her bed she has come around after a day or two and always grows to like her hair, especially when she's had a chance to wash and style it herself.

I'm hoping that her more dramatic days are behind her and she takes a slightly more laid back attitude with regards to getting her hair cut.

And the hood is off

Hurrah!

She seemed happy enough last night but as everyone says, she just needs some friends to tell her it's ok
