In reference to a question by ltec the other day.

OP posts:
hf128219 · 06/06/2010 12:09

Where has the sun gone? I am wearing a white whistles dress and gold pumps.

Off to the park now. Had a lovely night last night with my best friend. Barbequed lamb and salmon and jersey royals. Huge greek salad on the side. Washed down with Champagne.

DH sailing back from Belgium - after coming 2nd overall in their race!

RedBlueRed · 06/06/2010 12:30

Ltec tis a good job you didn't sell that top on ebay its gorgeous. I know you asked how tall I am on the last thread and in all my Hasbeen locating excitement I forgot to reply - 5'3" however, in the clogs I am planning to send back I am 5'8 1/2" - love it!

ABO the chocolates are these

NotYummy Have a fabulous holiday with lovely weather!

rufus101 · 06/06/2010 12:33

Blossoming your christening outfit sounds wonderful! At least you have good weather. It is bucketing down here today in Howth! Not good when you have a bouncy castle waiting to be blown up and 12 x 5 year olds arriving for a party at 2, and all the grown ups following along later for a BBQ!
NY so sorry I missed you before you headed off. Wanted to ask you about the weather in LG. I was so despondent with the weather here today, I thought I'd look up the weather in LG. And the forecast I saw was RAIN until next Saturday!!! Please let the forecast you have be the correct one. (Will feverishly look for alternative forecasts)
LTEC I got a studded belt in Zara last year. It was 10Euro and weirdly it goes with absolutely everything. Everyone admires it and think it was £££. I have worn it to cinch in an LBD, a coat, and it's fab. If you find one grab it.
Gosh you are all so disciplined about your weight. I would think 6 or 7 lbs is nothing extra really, when you factor in the whole body
TB same thing happens to me on holiday. I always make a trip to pharmacy pre holiday at this stage, so I am prepared. It's bizarre.

AllBuggiedOut · 06/06/2010 12:48

Have fun notyummy!

Like the chocolates cain

Will look out for belts!

hellsbelles · 06/06/2010 12:57

Tracey - I"m not sure that diet will take off but glad it works for you.

LTEC - I'm 5ft 8. And I am feeling very annoyed about the hasbeens. The advice on their own site suggested that as a 6 I should get size 38. It didn't make sense to me as I'm usually a 39 but I thought it must be swedish sizing! They are just a bit too tight. I thought I could get away with it but my feet do swell a little in the heat and it makes them worse! I must ebay them as it such a waste. I will have to resort to my uggs clogs (which I know you hate )

Marsha - I'm wondering if it will work for you if you are already good about avoiding carbs? May not be enough of a shock to the system (if that makes sense!)....

hellsbelles · 06/06/2010 13:00

and LTEC - it hasn't had that effect for some reason - I'm sure it will if I carry on for much longer!

clarabella23 · 06/06/2010 13:26

Hi everyone! Just been reading through your previous thread and thought I would ask for fashion advice here, as you all seem a friendly bunch!

Looking at this www.asos.com/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=1039836 on asos, and just wondered if it would look too formal as an afternoon in the wine bars type of dress-anyone got an opinion? I would wear it with gold flat sandals, poss change the belt to a thin gold waist belt, and wear one of those bangles that climbs up your arm.

I am also going to ladies day at the races later this year, so could be an option for that too.

traceybath · 06/06/2010 13:30

Notyummy - have a lovely holiday!

HF - sounds a lovely evening and well done to your DH.

Hells - have you considered taking the hasbeens to a cobblers and seeing if they could stretch them a bit. Mine have definitely given a bit after wearing them but they are quite narrow.

Clara - I think that dress is lovely.

Hi to tethersend too.

Right so am thinking I'd like a proper leather jacket - what do we think of this one? Anyone seen it in RL - am scared at venturing into all saints . . .

tethersend · 06/06/2010 13:33

I got one similar (but nicer) than the all saints one in tesco a few months ago... the quality of the leather is superb.

I will have a look. Like the style of the all saints one though...

bunnymother · 06/06/2010 13:44

Cakey - either of your outfits for the party next week sound great - Tshirt dress w Antik Batiks will feel (sartorial hug from shoes + comfort of T shirt dress) and look lovely, and the snakeskin dress also great (esp as you know you look good in it). I tend to dig out a tried and true outfit if in doubt. I love last night's outfit - gorgeous!! I am wearing a similar coloured top today.

Re S&B threads, I struggle a bit. Got involved in a "why is appearance important?" post (ostensibly for DCs, but quickly moved across to all ages) and put forward my arguments, then decided it wasn't worth the energy so stopped posting. I have my views firmly in place and not sure I care to spend much time trying to convince others, who may not change their mind anyway. Although, conversely, I do wonder why someone would come onto S&B and loftily sneer at the superficial nature of the thread. 'Tis S&B, not philosophy - you have not been misled!

Tracey - am hopeful that TTC is going well, but won't know for a while. Re tunic w denim mini, I love denim minis but spend most of my days at playgroup, gymboree and/or the playground, so too much bending over and sitting in sand pit to wear a short skirt without showing my knickers. No one wants to see mummy's knickers! All Saints leather jacket looks beautiful. Mmm, leather

Parliament/Cain - someone was seriously offended by your name?? Compared to some of the MN names and posts on here, I am amazed.

Fleecy - your outfits always sound fantastic - you do have flair! Hope you had fun last night!

Esher - I love that striped ASOS maxi!! Its just lovely. And well done on the compliments last night, and don't brush them off - you must have looked amazing, else someone wouldn't go out of their way to tell you.

Blossoming - hope christening goes well! Your outfits sound perfect.

Rufus - good luck w the party today!

DDs 1st birthday party was yesterday (early - she isn't 1 yet), and was a great success (all babies spent the party playing and eating, w v little crying). DD wore a beautiful new dress from Zara. Which now has grass and food stains on it . It was so lovely spending a warm summer's afternoon in a park w friends, food and drinks. Perfect.

wineismysaviour · 06/06/2010 13:46

Traceybath, LOVE that jacket...I bought an amazing black leather jacket on ebay for £10 last summer. Had it professionally dry cleaned and I love it still...bargainous..

MarshaBrady · 06/06/2010 13:51

Hells you might be right I have a big carby milk thing I can give up, phew!

Bunnymother first birthdays are so gorgeous and wonderful, I'm glad your dd's was perfect

traceybath · 06/06/2010 13:56

Bunny - glad party went well! You are so right re the denim mini as I discovered on holiday when I had to do a very unelegant sort of squat to pick Bea up! So how about shorts instead - I've got some khaki rolled up ones which look good with pretty tops.

Tethers - tescos you say - ummm perhaps I may have to venture there despite hating the shop with a passion due to their horrendous customer service. Still feels sick at the worm I found in piece of salmon from there.

bunjies · 06/06/2010 14:00

Hi everyone and welcome to tether, aargh and clara.

Tracey - what a nightmare with the birds. We had a bat stuck in our living room t'other day. Dh said it was freaky as it was completely silent when flying around. Though not as bad as the huge fuck off spider about the size of my fist that was above my bedroom door thus rendering me incapable of leaving said room and having to hide under the duvet til dh removed it .

Blossoming - hope the day goes well for you all.

Cake - your top from last night is gorgeous. Glad you had a fun night with nice people. Why don't you get that belt? Thought her website was really nasty and cheap looking though. Would put me off for a start.

notyummy - have a fab holiday. Hope the weather is good for you.

OWW - what a lovely dh you have. Any pics of the dress? I've never been to Okaidi. Must take a look some time.

Need some help finding a cap sleeved top in a green or blue colour to go with this skirt. Would prefer it to be fitted but not tight IYSWIM. Oh, and needs to have a V or scoop neck. Any ideas?

LetThemEatCake · 06/06/2010 14:05

bunny so glad you and your family had a wonderful day. Both dd and ds1 had their first b'days at the park in the sunshine and I have such happy memories of both, even if they don't have any recollection at all!!

rufus hope the party is great!!

welcome clara that dress is ideal I think.

tracey I was in All Saints last week and saw that jacket but didn't take a close look. Go on, go to AS and check it out. You look like a teenager so you'll fit right in .. unlike me who went in with a (crying) baby in pram and a small child, leaving other small child and dh playing games on the iPhone and blocking the doorstep. And then couldn't find my way into any of the clothes, getting arms, earrings and hair caught in the mass of draping and asymmetry. Oh yes, I was ever so popular with the Russell Brand wannabe who was manning the aeroplane-toilet-cubicle sized change rooms.

esher glad you had a fab time at Glyndo, and I bet you looked a million bucks! what a compliment from that (wise, old) lady!!

traceybath · 06/06/2010 14:20

A teenager - I look like a raddled old lady with piggy eyes. Hayfever makes me look seriously unattractive.

God I've had that with clothes in fitting rooms before where you start hyper-ventilating as think you'll never get out of them.

LetThemEatCake · 06/06/2010 14:30

love the hasbeens cain ... looking on that site I was also rather taken with these - tracey I assume you're with me on this?

carciofi · 06/06/2010 15:13

Hi ladies, we had no broadband for the last few days, I was having withdrawal symptoms.

Marsha, thanks for offering to look. I'll probably go in when the sale starts. The bag is sold out online.

Clara, the dress is lovely.

Rufus, my dad still lives in Howth so I will look out for you next time I am there!

hf128219 · 06/06/2010 15:47

Nothing to do with S&B - but Tracey there are 2 pages on 30 ways to relieve Hay Feve in the Mail today. Pages 28/29 in the Review.

vinauchocolat · 06/06/2010 16:34

hello! feeling a bit rubbish atm, looong story

no wise purchases from me! All Saints- the jacket/dress I ordered were delivered to another address, one number different to my own address but have been unable to retrieve

Tracey- your Tesco experience sounds vile!!

Blossoming, you sound like a picture of loveliness, hope today went well

vinauchocolat · 06/06/2010 16:36

Oh however on my mooch around London yesterday I was described as looking 'glamourous' even though I was only wearing rolled up chinos, an ill fitting black H&M top and some very old black sandals. And a spot on my cheek post sun screen. Weird, misguided.. But a compliment nonetheless

vinauchocolat · 06/06/2010 16:40

Oh Tracey I ordered that jacket!! It was on sale last weekend, reduced to 160 I think.. however it is now awol.. !

roary · 06/06/2010 17:07

5gorgeous maxis in observer mag today! Live the last one, Kate moss/ topshop. Will try to link later.

tracey have you tried beconase? It does not enter breastmilk at all. Will try to find link about that for you if you want! The birds thing is seriously my great nightmare.

ltec I don't really understand stone but that's about 60kg isn't it? That is so slim already! Just wanted to give you one more thread reminder of your hot babeness to carry with you on bad days.

tethersend · 06/06/2010 17:11

I don't think Tesco have them any more tracey... was similar to this asos one- between that and the as one.

Have been lusting after this jacket. But out of my price range.

Truth be told, the best leather jacket I ever had I found under the stairs when I lived in a shared house. Still have it, and will definitely get back into it soon. Definitely.

traceybath · 06/06/2010 17:17

Vin - how annoying re your missing parcel! Hope it turns up soon and now I am going to have to keep an eye on All Saints for sales.

Roary - oh I didn't know that about beconase - will go to Dr's this week.
