In reference to a question by ltec the other day.

LetThemEatCake · 11/06/2010 19:26

ha ha might ironically twist my hair up with a pair of chopsticks!!

hf128219 · 11/06/2010 19:28

LTEC Snakeskin

MarshaBrady · 11/06/2010 19:33

Oh cripes BOTH are good.

I'm going to say snakeskin one. It is fabulous and good.

eshermummy · 11/06/2010 19:34

LTEC - wear the snakeskin, wang plait and new shoes

Back in a min to update properly.

bunjies · 11/06/2010 19:35

Love the new dress Cake. Couldn't you wear that with your sandals or would that look wrong? Otherwise go for snakeskin dress. Have a great evening, I know you'll knock the socks of them all.

Everything - echo what others have said and if you do decide to part then I hope you manage to resolve things in the least traumatic way possible and that you can remain on good terms with dh.

OWW - what a complete arse. However, I do agree with your silver lining attitude as it is pissing down at the moment and waiting another week can't hurt!

Still no luck on my greeny/gol/eau de nil top.

bunjies · 11/06/2010 19:37

greeny/goldy

Fleecy · 11/06/2010 19:44

Yes - snakeskin

I bought this on eBay today - don't like how they've styled it here with all the black together but I thought it would be an easy way to smarten up plain tops and skinnies for work.

These arrived today - I can never find black shoes to get excited about and these are the nicest I've seen for a while that weren't £££. They're cute and go with everything - and I got them with 40% off so that's all good.

That will have to be it for me now for June (didn't I say that yesterday ) unless the AW t-shirt dress comes up in the NAP sale. Won't do me any harm not to buy stuff for a few weeks - it's not like I don't have anything to wear

hf - dauphinoise potatoes is one of my favourite things to eat. So delicious...

eshermummy · 11/06/2010 19:47

Sorry not been around much this week - not been feeling very well - think I may have had some virus as have been completely exhausted and today have had stomach ache/cramps so think it's some low level bug

Try as I might I cannot find anything to buy in the Liberty or the My Wardrobe sales - think I have lost my shopping mojo

But that's enough , have done my best to catch up with things so apologies if I've missed something important:

Bloss - hope you have a fab night out (you too LTEC).
Nights out .

MM - I liked pretty much all of the Reiss dresses linked to , don't be so hard on the HofH shoes, I stil think they look lovely. Also thanks to that link to Max Studio site - I love love love tonnes of stuff on it - have you ordered from them before ? What's their sizing like?

Everything - hope you are moving towards resolving what it is you want to do with your situation.
Brown feet rule anyway

Right what do you all think of these wedges. Ridiculous price, I don't even normally do wedges but for some reason I am smitten . DH says he will oblige for my birthday (but I will only let him if they go into the NAP sale). I like them because they are leopard (natch) and also not ludicrously high (only 3" wedge) but what do you all think? Is there anything better (and cheaper) out there?

Evening
Hope you both have lovely nights out Blossoming & LTEC.
Love the dress purchase LTEC - esp the pocket detail. Not in the same league but saw this one in Uniqlo and liked it here - good for the garden/beach I thought esp if you don't want tan lines?

Holiday all sorted - going with the 'DH comes back by train for 3 days' plan - annoying but better than coming back after a week. Just hope the sun comes out by the time we arrive Bunjies - makes packing for hot/cold weather a nightmare! Missed what you said about a top - what are you looking for?

MM - very heartfelt advice to everything and everything - trust your instincts.

hellsbelles · 11/06/2010 22:15

just rushing in quickly (betweeen packing). LTEC hope you had a fab night (and that you wore the snakeskin).

I am going to an MN meet up t/m and travelling for some of the day so I'll have no time to log on (unless DH lends me his ipad!)

MarshaBrady · 11/06/2010 22:18

Hells have a fab meetup. I saw something the other weekend that made me think of you / your dh and smile.

A tshirt with a big pocket on the front for the ipad

AllBuggiedOut · 11/06/2010 23:26

Evening all.

everything I'm glad things are becoming clearer for you and that you can see positives in the way forward you are talking about. But I'm so sorry you are going through this

After weeks of waiting to have my colours done, I finally did today and have come away disappointed and uninspired... I'm apparently an "autumn leaf" which I guess is self explanatory! But have never really worn many khaki/russet/browns so am floundering a bit. I like that strapless Uniqlo OWW linked to so wonder if I should try that in the brown. Also lime green is one of my colours and I'd like a cami in that colour, and if anybody has suggestions for things that might suit me, I'd love some help! I can see absolutely why those are the colours that work well on me (my hair looks less mousey, my cheeks less flushed) but I'm struggling to get excited about them right now Maybe I need to find my inner leopard?!

LetThemEatCake · 11/06/2010 23:47

psssst...

am on iPhone in the loo (tra la la la la) which I know makes me mega sad loser

but just to say - wearing snakeskin, new shoes (which are really comfy! go figure) and Wanger.

Nice work ladies. good choice, right choice, Un peu too much as is house party andplenty of jeans clad types here but do you know what, I look okay. And am actually not doing too badly weightwise considering have had 3 kids. Some here with 2 dc but look like pg with quads. Sorry to be horrid. Bit drunk. Also am just not a very nice person

will be nicer and less glam tomorrow. Mwah and out.

RedBlueRed · 12/06/2010 00:46

LOL at Ltec posting from the cubicle! Glad you feel good in your outfit, good choice!

Everything I'm sorry your marriage has got to this point, its very sad. Sounds like you have changed and grown and I hope the positives mean that it is not so painful for you.

I was about to go to bed when I checked in and realised that my fav thread had dropped off my 'I'm on' again. Its feast or famine with me.

Looking forward to catching up with some links - scanning down the page it seems I have missed a sale
Damn and blast.

blossoming · 12/06/2010 06:20

Ugh, doing the morning shift so dh can have belated lie in. Had too much to drink last night and wondering if I could curl up on sofa and get some more sleep!

Felt bad because the bistro was fully booked. There's me thinking no way we'd have to book.. It's triathlon weekend here so could be why. Ended up in the pizza place where I used to work over 20 years ago. And then to the pub. Back before 11. Good night.

allbuggiedout, sorry you feel uninspired. I have sold lots of chocolate brown stuff since having my colors done. Have you got the kettlewell catalogue?

OP posts:
blossoming · 12/06/2010 06:34

Just been reading Dannii Minogue's column in Glamour. I really think she's rocked the pregnancy look. Also her Project D dresses seem worth a look.

OP posts:
carciofi · 12/06/2010 07:57

Everything, I'm thinking of you.

LTEC, I am sure you were the glammest lady there!

Esher, I don't know of any cheaper alternatives but those shoes are fabulous!

OWW, glad you can still go away.

Blossoming, DD won't let me sleep in so I am always on the morning shift! Even if DH tries to get up with her, she comes in and pulls the duvet off me until I get up. It's not fair but I will get my revenge when she is a teenager.

We are going out tonight to dinner with friends so I think I will wear my Blossoming top and skinny jeans.

AllBuggiedOut · 12/06/2010 08:04

Thnaks bloss I have got the kettlewell catalogue which I'm sure will be good for basics. And OWW thank you for reminding me about the blossoming top - I will see if it comes in any autumn colours.

carciofi · 12/06/2010 08:20

ABO, can you wear this saffron colour? I love it but it doesn't suit me.

OllieWollieWoo · 12/06/2010 09:25

ABO - sorry that you feel down about your colours. Get the Uniqlo dress (I love that shade of brown) and it may prove an incentive to you to try more browns? I find if I have something in a 'new'colour that I love, that makes me want more! (avid!)

Have a lovely day all - sunny here so off on a long bike ride to Delft with lunch at the boys favourite pancake cafe!

Romanarama · 12/06/2010 10:18

ABO I love those colours, but dh always gets annoyed when I wear them to much as he says they're horrid, so I suspect they're not my colours. How ironic - sorry you were disappointed.

This thread has actually made me think that I really must get my colours done. It sounds like it makes you think much harder about what looks good, and let's face it when you're rising 40 that's exactly what you need to do.

bunjies · 12/06/2010 10:23

ABO - sorry the colours weren't what you were hoping for but the silver lining is that there is a lot of stuff out there in those colours so you will have loads of choice.

Esher - hope you feel better today. Sorry, not keen on the wedges but then I'm not an animal print lover!

OWW - I really like that dress (wouldn't suit my hefty upper body though ). Top I'm looking for is to go with this skirt. Looking for fitted (but not tight), cap sleeves, greeny/gold or eau de nil colour. By the way, where are you going in France?

hf128219 · 12/06/2010 11:32

Bloss Glad you had a good night.

We had to wake dd up at 10.00! We kept checking she was OK!

LTEC Your post from the party made me chuckle. Bet you looked fab.

Esher I am not that keen on those shoes either - It's the fact the print is all over the shoe.

Roman Agree that getting colours done must be a good idea - must make you more focussed. I am 40 in 5 weeks!

Have lovely days everyone. We are off to a local fair.

blossoming · 12/06/2010 11:41

abo, I'm leafing through the catalogue and I love that peacock colour aswell as the coral and the buttercup. I'm sure you could find aquamarine for summer clothes and keep the sea green, chocolate and chestnut more for winter. A good exercise for me was flicking through random catalogues that came through the door and finding my colours in those. I know Boden have the leaf colour in this season for example. Take heart. Think of how great you'll look!

Going anywhere nice in (my) top carciofi? Not sure how you'll beat my local pizza place..!!
