I'm not sure re boots red. Which do you prefer, and which do you feel most comfortable in?
Sorry, v unhelpful.

traceybath, no sign of jeans yet, but it's still early days, when you live in the sticks.

The sky+ man who came to mend my sky+ this morning after a year of not working has totally made my day.

Also, of my boden beach order, the beach dress in blue is quite fabulous. Possibly because the blue is purply, what house of colour called lobelia, and is one of my best colours. I'm going to wear it off the beach, in the welsh countryside over jeggings, with the silver boyf cardi buttoned just in the middle over it. You can shorten it by lifting the top over the tie at the waist ifyswim.
The pretty beach throw on looked like my gran's old nightdress. It didn't V enough and was shapeless. I'm also keeping the merino tunic in the same 'periwinkle'/lobelia blue, which was surprisingly flattering, and also great with jeggings. Before getting addicted to this thread I used to wear polo shirts in the summer so I ordered the boden one. I realised I looked like the schoolteacher I once was, and have wisely sent it back.

mrsjuan · 23/04/2010 13:22

I'm not sure either red but thinking aloud:

not rolled makes your legs look slimmer but it might just be the way you're standing

can't quite see but do you have to tuck the jeans into the boots if not rolled - does that look right?

perhaps the rolls need to be slightly narrower like this?

hmm - tricky one!

mrsjuan · 23/04/2010 13:24

not that your legs don't look slim in the top pic - just slimmer in the second.

trust me to offend a newcomer

traceybath · 23/04/2010 13:24

Red - agree with mrsj - more flattering without rolling them up.

I'm doing narrow rolls and not too far above the ankle.

VB - thanks for that link - will have a look through that later.

Fleecy · 23/04/2010 13:30

red I thought I'd say rolled up but having seen it, I prefer them not rolled for the evening. To my mind, they look more casual rolled up so more a daytime look?

Not saying rolled doesn't work for the evenings BTW! Just here, I think down is the way to go. Maybe because there's a lot going on with the peep toe and the buckles that the roll is too much? Whereas keeping the jeans simple shoes the boots off to advantage?

Fleecy · 23/04/2010 13:32

Like tracey, am doing my rolls just to show a little flash of ankle - more a 7/8 kind of length on the whole.

redshoesnoknickers · 23/04/2010 13:44

Thanks everyone - i'm not offended MrsJuan don't worry...the prob is a narrow cuff is still over the boots as the are ankle boots not shoe boots iyswim? I think maybe the cuff jeans are best left for daytime (already do that all the time).

I think I was just trying to force an outfit that would include the boots but it's not really working is it?

Would a dash to the shops before I pick up DD at 3 be avid or wise???

Barbabelle · 23/04/2010 13:46

I've been shopping!! Ourlady thank you for the shoe link. I'm going to order a pair in the tan colour. I have had a very disappointing experience with hasbeens this week. Tried the peep-toe super highs in natural in a 7 and they were too narrow. Didn't want to send them back as they were so pretty, no size 8s available, but they just didn't fit. Found some braided sky highs in an 8 on asos which were again lovely but too narrow. I have ordered these which I'm not convinced are going to work.

apuski I hope all is well - just read about your nasty fall. Was it you who linked to this cardigan some time ago? I've just bought it and I love it. Now hankering after this entire look here

traceybath I've bought the new look chinos in the green colour and I'm very pleased with them - surprisingly flattering. Thank you.

I'm also quite pleased with this cardigan which is much looser and slouchier on me and looks good with white tank, silver jewellery) and the UO combats (which I've also had to repurchase in a smaller size! Can't believe they're still in stock). This cardigan in green is really useful too.

Ordered these ballet pumps in nude but they were far too small so have gone for these in pewter. Someone recommended them ages ago and I kept a note but wanted to find something a bit more exciting. Anyway, they came this morning and are great. So flattering - actually make my feet look quite slim and dainty

redshoes I love both those looks. I'd probably go for the rolled up one, but either way you'll look great.

Barbabelle · 23/04/2010 13:52

Oh I seem to be in the minority on red's rolled up jeans! I just think the first look is a bit more spring-like. With the black top being so plain, I think you can just about get away with the boot/buckle/roll up thing.

mrsjuan · 23/04/2010 14:00

I really really like those fly sandals barb - v tempted.

Can I be nosy and ask if you've had to reorder the UO combats in a smaller size because they come up big or because you've lost weight. I'm usually a 10 and was going to get the smalls after cake said she had the extra smalls but I've since found that she can't be trusted

Hope you've got some drugs by the time you read this btw LTEC

My rolls are also narrow and close to ankle a la tracey. Think this is a trend we'll regret in years to come but let's embrace it while we can

hellsbelles · 23/04/2010 14:11

hello all - just rushing in quickly (though you've not noticed I've been gone ;-)

Cakey - I hope by now you've seen the dr and are suitably dosed up and allowing your body a little time to recover. YOU HAVE TO (sorry to shout)...otherwise you won't get better.

Apuski - was so sorry to read about your fall but glad you are back safe and well.

Tracey sorry about the car but very of your fab dress.

Everyone else - I am planning a night of catch up (as DH is out) so am saving all the lovely links as a treat for myself.

I have been very wise and NOT avid...for me. But as DH celebrates his birthday today we bunked off work yesterday and got him loads of stuff. I was very very good. I tried so hard not to be deflected by all teh gorgeous things that could have been mine and concentrated solely on the incredibly interesting world of mens clothes. Still he is looking rather wonderful and was rather too fond of walking near reflective surfaces (so he could gaze at himself) after putting on all his new attire. He was actually getting so many looks (good ones) from passers by. I meanwhile hobbled behind as I had stupidly hurt my foot and I think my spanx (essential due to very figure hugging rick owens dress) lost some of the elasticity throughout the day...so as he got more glamourous I got more hideous

See you all soon

blossoming · 23/04/2010 14:16

Narrow rolls at ankles? A bit 'come on eileen'?! But if you're too young to remember.....!

Off to try new jeans!

blossoming · 23/04/2010 14:29

OMG, gorgeous jeans. Really tight, really dark, slightly lower rise than my paige, but fine for smart occasions w/o kids. Look good with the black patent heels.
(Glad I got the 32s!!!)

Fel1x · 23/04/2010 14:31

Happy Birthday Mr Helles!

Red -I would def go for not rolled up jeans out of the two looks

Re. Mint velvet. I have bought from there. I have this top and is really nice. Fits well and washes well.
I really really like a lot of the stuff on the site!

Barbabelle · 23/04/2010 14:37

mrsjuan glad you like the fly sandals - I'll report back when they arrive. I love the UO combats. Currently wearing a small which are just very slightly loose at the mo but I'm starting to lose my babyweight now ds2 is 9 months and I've started low-carbing. The extra small won't fasten yet - but I remain optimistic that they will in a few weeks. I'd say I'm a large 10 at the mo. The new look chinos in a 10 are a perfect fit. Is that any help??

Barbabelle · 23/04/2010 14:41

I like that top Fel1x. I have this from mint velvet which I rather like. It's quite light and summery. Have got baby food on the pom poms though and not sure what to do about it so I haven't worn it for a little while.

Strangely attracted to this . I'd wear with skinnies....whaddaya think?

What are you like Cakey? You, rubbish Mum? Certainly NOT! Although we all have moments where we question ourselves....I should have been a Catholic with my propensity to question myself and feel guilty...C'mon, you dote on those kids and you are the queen of role play and fun mummy extraordinaire!!!! Not to mention cake baker par excellence!

Have to say, I completely understand where you are coming from, although my DH away a fraction of yours...and it's bloody hard work, especially so when you are ill. You keep all the balls rolling until one blip ...

Give yourself a break ! And yes, Verity IS right...you need time out too...so kick back sometimes and maybe switch the telly on. I hate it too, but with two toddlers causing utter mayhem when they are together, you need some time out!!!

Take care and hope you got it all sorted!!!

Anyway, my Mother has just been and done a stack of ironing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank the Lord! I am going to make the most of the weather and get out with the kids in the sunshine....

DolceeBanana · 23/04/2010 15:01

I meant get the chest sorted!!! As in poss infection

DolceeBanana · 23/04/2010 15:03

Anyway, I can sense you are a proud lady Cakey, and I shall shut up now. It's just that we have all been there, or will at some point, and I think this is a nice forum for some caring and sharing. We Mumnies need to vent our feelings!!!!

mrsjuan · 23/04/2010 15:08

Thanks barbabelle - that is really helpful - sounds like we are a similar size so I'll go for a S - they look like the sort of thing that will look better slightly loose rather than too small? If not I'll order the XS and throw a party

DD has just woken up from nap and her eye seems a bit better so will do a quick cotton wool job on it and then take her to the swings. She had a lovely time playing in the garden this morning - think this summer is going to be a lot more fun than last summer!

DolceeBanana · 23/04/2010 15:17

MrsJ - mine have all had conjunctivitis, and no need for docs in any cases. Just cleansed thoroughly as you are, washing hands afterwards to prevent spread (yuk!)...as it's quite contagious...!

dolcee I can't get into see your link - it's obviously very popular and crashing under the pressure

everything I have some black ones like that and I don't wear them much because of the chunky waistband. It's just too thick to wear things over the top but if you tuck them in, it looks like a little shelf!

Has anyone done clashing prints yet? I've been admiring successful clashes but am more of an unfashionable matchy matchy girl myself. I've found one combo I like today though and am quite excited - navy and white stripe loose vest with this scarf. Wearing with big dark sunnies and indigo skinnies. Not sure how it works but it somehow does

mrsjuan · 23/04/2010 16:20

Everything - no am not breastfeeding anymore unfortunately but have just found some milk left in the freezer (think I have been saving it for unconscious sentimental reasons ). I think it's too old for her to drink now but do you think I could use it?

Fkeecy - I think that combo sounds really good
