Hurrah, I've found you all .

Everything - I was sad to read of your marital issues. I do hope you get a chance to resolve them. For what it's worth I don't think you should feel guilty about not missing dh. Everyone needs a break from time to time.

Have been AWOL recently due to easter hols and spending time with the kids & being in the garden due to the glorious weather. Also, haven't had much cause for any clothes looking/buying so haven't been tempting myself. Have kept up to date with all the posts though.

All that changed rather dramatically this morning when I received a call from a recruitment agency in London informing me that a job he had put me forward for last week wanted to interview me on....MONDAY!!!! Cue panicked organising of travel arrangements not involving aeroplanes and frantic buying of potential interview outfit (have none as last interview was held over the phone!)

So as a short arse have bought this dress, skirt, jacket and wrap dress. Getting next day delivery so they should be there tomorrow/friday.

Am not planning on keeping them all (unless I get offered the job ) so will try them all on and decide which is best. Am liking the dress the most but I think the jacket would spoil the look even though it's from the same range. I do have a short khaki trench I could wear over the top which I could take off for the interview but I do wonder whether I might get a bit cold (hate being cold). The skirt and jacket would go together the best but more boring I think. I get the feeling the wrap dress would be too clingy round my still pregnant looking belly.

What do you guys think? Also, only smart shoes I own are a pair of patent burgundy mary jane heels and these monstrosities in black Does burgundy go with charcoal? Or should I find something in black? Any suggestions for high street finds I could pick up on Sunday?

AllBuggiedOut · 21/04/2010 15:54

Thanks verity, and good luck with your interview bunjies. I think the wrap dress is a bit too casual for an interview.

notyummy · 21/04/2010 16:04

bunjies - interview outfit will depend on the sort of organisation you are trying to get into I guess. I agree that the wrap dress would have appeared a bit casual in some of the interviews I have gone for in the past. Would probably go for the charcoal dress and jacket, with some killer heels (black perhaps and then you might be able to wear them again?) Perhaps a bright top or scarf to stand out against the darker suit and shoes?

RedBlueRed · 21/04/2010 16:07

Oh I'm posting so I can always find this new one. I have to finish reading the last one yet.

I hope all the flight disruption is sorted for everyone.
I am busy interviewing so that I can go out and buy some of the lovely things I have been 'window shopping' I have actually done a few hours work this week so fingers crossed it leads to a full time position.

blossoming · 21/04/2010 16:09

Hi bunjies, good to have you back. Good luck on the interview. I think boring is best for interview so would go for skirt and jacket. Burgundy would be great with charcoal. Do you have a burgundy camisole to go under the jacket?

Ok - shall I make the trip to the UK tomorrow afternoon or not? Can't really find out info on whether the ash will cause new delays or if its thought to be ok now. Flight leaves Holland tomorrow afternoon into Luton and back on Sat afternoon! Purpose of the trip is just for me to have some serious shopping time away from the kids ie not all that important! Just wouldn't want to get stuck esp with all the backlogs taking ages to clear. Decisions, decisions! WWYD?

these shoes?

or these if you prefer wedges?

LetThemEatCake · 21/04/2010 16:11

really sorry to read about your relationship problems everything. It does throw dh's extended time in Vegas into a resentment-inducing light, doesn't it? If you were happy and felt cherished, you'd probably not begrudge him the 'treat', if such it is. I do sympathise with having to go it alone - as most of you know, I'm usually alone with my 3 and even when dh is not away, he leaves before they get up and is home long after they're in bed. It's relentless. He saw the kids for about 30mins this morning for the first time since Saturday, and hasn't been here for an evening in over 2 weeks. Think one of my most moments was last year when he was doing the Jamie Does series - I was heavily pg, dealing with a 1 & 2 yr old, we were moving so I was dealing with estate agents, tradesmen and the agony of packing ... meanwhile he was in some of my fave cities in the world, eating amazing food and having a laugh. But you know what, it's his job. And the fact that I was struggling at home didn't mean that he should sit in his hotel room wearing a hair shirt when the cameras stopped rolling. Mind you, I had to remind myself of this several times a day

I'm also really sorry that you're going to miss the wedding

Happy birthday Buggied

had an ill-advised New Look order arrive today. The navy UO combats are hanging down to my knees so decided to give Tracey's turned up chinos a go but found the quality to be v. poor - one of my fingers went through the pocket when i put my hands in!! also a few other bits, too boring to link to and going back. The big surprise is these boots which are must nicer in RL and look good with the whole floral dress/ trench combo. Annoyingly, have just discovered that they've been reduced from £50 to £20 Will reorder and send other back with the rest of the stuff

have been trying to write this post for over an hour so will give up sign off for now

Good luck with intervie bunjies.

I also popped into Harvey Nichols when in bristol and saw the halston heritage dress that Hells and I had been coveting and it was horrid - soooo polyestery and possibly only flattering on SJP.

Talking of which - where are you Hells?

Everything - any news on when DH will be home. The other thing that occured to me as I was doing school run was that DH and I always get on a lot better when we regularly go out together for dinner and if possible have the odd night away together - you probably do all that already though . . .

notyummy · 21/04/2010 16:14

ltec - I also find the UO combats are hanging - probably slightly less than yours as i get the distinct impression that you are more disciplined re food . Those little pull things at the side don't stay put and hold in the waist do they?

Like the boots!

LetThemEatCake · 21/04/2010 16:19

have reordered the UO combats a size down. Amazed they still have any in stock, given how many of us have them.

Not more disciplined re food, yummy. Just unable to fit in much exercise unfort. Swings and roundabouts. Things will change.

Oh no LTEC I love my new look chinos and they've washed well too.

Must say that from my very quick perusal of the shops today - there's not much around thats even tempting to try on but when I look online I see lots of stuff. Although Reiss looked like they'd got some nice stuff in.

LTEC - how small are you now!

I do find with new look and in fact any cheap shops that you do have to really look through them to get decent stuff and thats hard to do with dc's in tow.

traceybath · 21/04/2010 16:30

Right just quickly before I go and do dinner - what do you think of this top - nice or too cutesy?

bunjies · 21/04/2010 16:32

Thanks for the good interview vibes.

Notyummy - were those shoes linked for me? I'm not sure I can carry off peep toes! Also, I think I ought to wear opaques due to aforementioned issues with cold!

Had thought about these or these.

I wish I could carry off v. high heels like Romana but I don't think a job within the Dept of Health is the place to start!

Arriving London sat night, westfield shopping centre sun afternoon!

Oh and OWW - I'd go for it.

Not keen on the top Tracey. Probably cos I'm too old for it

LetThemEatCake · 21/04/2010 16:42

See, this is what happens when you take so long over a post. Have just read back and seen bunjie's post - best of luck with your interview!!!

PS everyone - Jamie Does is on ch 4 tonight at 9pm, so please do watch it

OllieWollieWoo · 21/04/2010 17:06

Is it someones b-day today? I'm terrible at remembering who said what on this thread! Sorry!

Good point everything - most people who want to leave should hopefully have left the UK by Saturday! London here I come! Better start thinking about what to take - and locating passport! Tracey - typical that I plan a trip when there is not much in the shops!!!! Bet I end up with new undies from M&S and a not v wise 'last minute cos I was desperate' purchase!

Need to go back and look at links now!

LTEC I understand how difficult it is for Mums with DP/DHs who are not there to help all the time. I accept that everything is just down to me because as an LP there is no-one else around, but I think I would find it a little bit more difficult if I had a significant other who, for whatever reason was unable to help me. I think I would resent the set-up personally, actually I did, which is why I am a single mum now but then xp made things a lot worse than they needed to be. Oh for an easy life, its not a lot to ask is it?
Everything - reading your last post makes me very sad for you. Don't know the background but I wish you well.

Romanarama · 21/04/2010 18:13

Happy birthday buggied.

OWW I think the story on the ash is that they've decided it would have had to be about 100x more concentrated to be dangerous to planes so it was a load of nonsense

We're going to Eurodisney tomorrow, to the 'New York Hotel'! Yes, dh is back and he brought me my nice J Brand trousers. I'm now packing all over again. Hope we will go to stay with some Paris friends on Sat night and do s'th for grown ups, not just Mickey all the way!

Good luck to everyone with interviews! I'm the expert on not getting the job!

blossoming · 21/04/2010 18:16

ollie, it is important!! I'd go to john lewis Oxford st as they have loads of different brands and do your research before hand. What you need for s/s, where the gaps are in your wardrobe for your lifestyle. Or what your go to shops are and where they are in relationship to each other. Plan plan plan, and if in doubt, buy jeans, shoes, handbag and shades!!!
I've just booked my next trip too. I'm down on may 8.

ltec, can't wait for jamie tonight. Just hope it doesn't make me too hungry!!

Romanarama · 21/04/2010 18:17

ltec what I really loathe is when dh travels and moans about how tired he is and gets all hair-shirty about everything. It's not like you get paid more for being miserable so much better to just revel in all the good stuff. Nothing worse than points scoring about who's the most exhausted and put-upon.

everything that all made me feel sad too. Have you asked your dh what the rejection's about?

Now, who's been to Eurodisney - is there anything I need to know? We have 3 days of park, so hope we can do just a few hours each, and then go to the hotel pool for the rest. Leggings and trainers all the way, I assume
