Credit to Everything for the lovely new title!

dexter thank you for your msg, I am not leaving that surgery without a/bs.

tracey my dh likes to bring that up to, which really annoys me as I think it is a convenient way of not acknowledging that his job is actually very hard work for both of us.

traceybath · 22/04/2010 21:08

Oh I love that dress LTEC and am sure you will look like a movie star in it .

Fleecy · 22/04/2010 21:08

Evening!

Sorry to hear you're still feeling rubbishy LTEC but glad you've got in to Drs tomorrow.

tracey that's good news about Bea - you said she slept through a few days ago but hadn't said anythign since so I didn't like to ask in case it was a one-off. Fingers crossed it'll continue!

red I like peep-toe ankle boots and bought these a couple of weeks ago. Not leather but for £10 I don't much care and they're surprisingly easy to walk in. I've worn them with rolled up jeans but boyfriend/carrot ones - when I've worn them with skinnies I haven't rolled them up. They looked good with skinnies, silk tank and boyfriend jacket. I'm 32 and didn't feel mutton.

Fleecy · 22/04/2010 21:10

Cross posts there - love the dress and can see it would really suit you

mrsjuan · 22/04/2010 21:24

Hope you get on ok at doctors cake and feel better soon. I've ordered the cake book (and another one - guess they will come in handy over the next few years ) I am hoping that Felicity fish is easier than she sounds though

I'm no where near brave enough for those peeptoe boots so won't pass comment - like the NL sandals though and quite like the outfit they've teamed them with on the website.

Tracey - I'm very jealous of pleased for you about Bea's sleeping. Po has been pretty bad the last few nights after a good run of almost sleeping though last week. Oh well - I'm sure she'll get there one day.

traceybath · 22/04/2010 21:26

MrsJ - I must confess I still hear her stir a couple of times but I'm not leaping up at her first cry. Am leaving her a couple of mins and she seems (fingers crossed) to be settling herself more.

VerityBrulee · 22/04/2010 21:42

Oh Cakey I hope you are ok, take care of yourself. You are such an energetic and creative mum, but sometimes you have to do what the rest of us do and plonk the dc in front of cbeebies, lie on the sofa and rest.

I felt really dreadful in jan/feb, but prompted by an article in Vogue started on a regime of supplements which did me the world of good. I have downsized a bit now but will stick to a Vivioptal active/ co q 10/ vitamin D for the forseeable future as I feel so much better now. Especailly important when you're on a restricted diet I think.

When is dh back? Hand over to him as soon as he walks in the door and take to your bed for at least 24 hours

Tracey lovely dress, I have a never ending love affair with stripes

mrsjuan · 22/04/2010 21:44

Yes - we do that too- works sometimes but not always and if I leave her slightly to long then she gets into a state and then it takes even longer to settle her. I get the impression she's been uncomfortable in some way for the last few nights as she's been very restless and moaning a lot in her sleep. Have given her some calpol tonight to see if it makes a difference.
Anyway - this a shopping thread! I'll stop boring you all with my sleep woes now

monkeysmama · 22/04/2010 22:06

Haven't read everything - this thread moves so quickly and I have a headache. Could be all the focus I gave to my 2 hour driving lesson after a day with the ils, could be no dinner and 2 glasses of red wine .

Anyway, before I rush off to have a shower and fake tan (I'm such a Tracey wannabe ) wanted to ask a quick question.

Are these foul? I now own them and am not sure. I wanted a flat boot to wear with skinnies for the next few weeks. I've been meaning to buy a grey ankle boot all winter and not found one I liked.

Red I have those sandals too. New Look sandals are great. I have loads of pairs and people always comment on them.

LTEC get ye to the dr. I hope you're ok.

Apuski glad you're ok.

Night all.

notyummy · 22/04/2010 22:36

ltec - love the dress.

mm - I like those boots - however - not on me IFYSWIM?! I can see them with skinnies and bf cardigan on the right person. I work near a Uni and some of the cooler students I see wondering round seem to be able to pull that look off. Me - not so much!

AllBuggiedOut · 22/04/2010 22:46

OMG that dress has sold out already tracey

RedBlueRed · 22/04/2010 23:04

LTEC I agree, it sounds very much like an infection (I too have had although Dr told me it was seasonal asthma and gave me an inhaler, took months to clear) so do not leave without anti biotics. Glad to hear you have upped your carb intake. I think sometimes when I am not taking in enough energy, I get more susceptible to illness. Look after yourself especially if you are still feeding.
I got in last night in time to see the last half hour of Jamie Oliver, what is your dh's input? Would love to be able to do all that travelling and exploring of cultures, fascinating.

OurLady I was one at least, who was at the price of swedish hasbeens so thank you so much for posting that link although I'm afraid they don't flick my shoe porn switch.

I was doing yet more hunting for some clog type shoes and found these, has anyone bought from this site?
What is an 'independent' designer as opposed to any other?
Any thoughts re quality?

I am actually doing a few hours work tomorrow which am hoping will lead to a full time job, plus my part time business seems to be starting to show signs of growth which is exciting...I may have my hasbeens yet!

have just been reading back through thread to see what I've overlooked in my befuddled state but did not get far as came across gross misrepresentstion. XS???? Me, in an XS?? Bollocks. Not sure whether wishful thinking of some Freudian kind but unfortunately no, have sized down to a small in the UO combats.

Had to clear that up!!

On another note, thank you all for your concern. verity and blossoming in partic, your posts made me well up. Have been feeling like rubbish mum this week, so thanks a million for your kind and encouraging words.

Night all, hope to catch up on links tomorrow

redshoesnoknickers · 23/04/2010 08:07

Thanks for accepting me in i am definitely a bit obsessed with clothes...not enough opportunities to wear the really fab stuff unfortunately but I can still look

I hope you feel better soon LTEC - it's horrid being ill when you are a mum...i wish I had appreciated illness properly pre-kids when you could just take to your bed and watch a DVD.

So mixed feelings on the boots... I admit they are not my usual thing and they do look much better in black. Mine are NL too and they spoke to me across a crowded shop floor I have only worn them out once with black opaques and a grey/black stripy jumper dress which looked nice but i'm over the opaques for this year and am not going bare legged with a mini skirt no way! Too old, too pasty, nasty spider veins (probably only visible close up but I feel concious) cellulite thighs. I might feel more like it when I get a tan but not likely! I like maxi dresses and mini ish with opaques but is there a middle length that is not frumpy??

I think I will try on planned outfit after I go running and see how it looks. If I can fathom out how I might post a pic.

Am loving my NL sandals - glad you all like. Am v. tempted to go back and get another colour (pewter or tan??) as they are so comfy

Monkey I like the boots you linked to but a bit too studenty casual for me personally.

Pistachio nail polish sounds lovely everything is it matt or iridescent? I am stuck on red nail polish atm - Oh that's a point - if I wear the peep toes tonight what toenail polish???

Must go and dress the kids before we are late for school!!! Later...

Fel1x · 23/04/2010 08:26

LTEC - good luck at the Drs today. Hopefully you will be feeling heaps better by the end of the day once the ab's start kicking in!

MM - I really like those boots. Can def see them with skinnies and bf cardigan. In fact I like them so much I may order some too

DH is off today for a long weekend away so will have to think of some weekend things to entertain the DCs without me going crazy!! Maybe farm, thats always fun

bunnymother · 23/04/2010 08:27

Quick post from me... In my haste to get at my morning coffee, I leaned on the plunger and hot coffee splashed out everywhere so am sitting here with wet paper towel around my wrist and a wet washcloth in my bra. Doubt burns to the wrist and chest are either stylish or beautiful. When will I learn???

Tracey - fab Jigsaw dress.

Red - welcome!

Everything - pistachio toenails sound terrific.

Cakey - do take it easy and hope the abs that you are going to get help.

bunjies · 23/04/2010 08:39

cake - hope you get your a/bs today - you do sound like you need to rest though as well. When is dh back? I don't think anyone could call you a rubbish mum. You put me to shame and I'm not on my own and I'm not working.

notyummy - i haven't forgotten to email you. Stupid idiot that I am managed to send the email back to myself ! Have now sent it to you (I hope).

Welcome Red. I'm not keen on the boots but then again I'm not what you'd call edgy when it comes to fashion!

redshoesnoknickers · 23/04/2010 10:29

I've put up pics with jeans rolled or not rolled on my profile (excuse hideous toe nails am going to paint them obv...prob OPI "who are you wearing?" which is really dark slightly metallic navy) - whaddaya think? either? neither?

VerityBrulee · 23/04/2010 11:05

Hi Red! I can't see your profile but am quite partial to rolled up at the moment

Cakey if you are a rubbish mum, then the rest of us have no chance I hope you are at the dr right now, you'll be on the mend soon I'm sure.

All of you clog lovers out there might like this site I saw on India Knights blog. Apparently you can customise your clogs!

Has anyone ordered from Mint Velvet, I keep coming back to these nude skinnies I love the colour, but I'm slightly pear shaped and find jeans buying a bit hit and miss. As I'm not in the UK I have to pay extra for delivery and returns which makes mistakes extra painful!

Tracey you were saying how good NAP site is good for styling, you might like browsing the J Crew catalogue. I love it, great for layering ideas and all round inspiration. Heres the May one, I can't look at it, makes me feel too disgruntled as I sit here in my opaques and scarf. I had my cashmere wristwarmers on this morning, but I suppose it is a least sunny!

MrsJuan you have inspired me to up my game on the birthday cake front. DDs party for 15 little girls is on Sunday, so I'd better come up with something pretty. Off to the shops for pink food colouring so!

mrsjuan · 23/04/2010 11:25

Can't see you r profile red but I'm wearing my skinnies rolled up today together with wedge sandals and a red and white stripy top. I have a horrible feeling I look like a pirate.

Have discovered the reason for DD's grumpiness yesterday - she has woken up with green gunk coming out of her eye - anyone know if that's a chemist or a doctor or neither job?

Such a lovely day here today and all set for a nice weekend too

blossoming · 23/04/2010 11:38

Hi red, can't get your profile up. Love the sound of your OPI nail varnish. Mind if I steal?

ltec, I'm feeling emboldened so here goes:
I can't believe how much you do. From what I know of you you work, look after 3 kids mostly on your own, cook all the meals, entertain and make up stories and activities, bake fantastic cakes, act as fashion advisor to most of the a&w girls, work out, breastfeed, co-sleep, and are about to switch to real nappies. Have I left something out? Come on.. It's too much!! Give yourself a break. Like someone else said, switch on cbeebies and lie on the couch. Take some time for yourself at least.
(Said because I care).

VerityBrulee · 23/04/2010 11:46

MrsJ, wipe dds eye with cotton wool dipped in cooled boiled water. A trip to the chemist should be enough. Poor dd, must be uncomfortable

Blossoming - hear, hear

traceybath · 23/04/2010 11:53

MrsJ - poor DD.

Blossoming - have your jeans arrived?

Been and sorted Bea's passport and nearly fell over at the £57 cost for check and send.

Off to a bbq at Dh's office after school - now shall I keep on skinnies and next jersey jacket (shamelessly copied from MM) or change?

Actually have answered my own question - its an office full of IT boys so will keep on what I'm wearing.

LTEC - hope you got a decent night's sleep and some lovely antibiotics.

redshoesnoknickers · 23/04/2010 12:34

God i'm such a technology free zone! Sorry! I have unlocked my profile now so have a look - tell me honestly if both options are yuk - I can take it! (just not sure what else to wear - yikes!)
