Credit to Everything for the lovely new title!

OP posts:

Dolcee - it was the podium. I just misjudged it very badly - oh well, this is why we have insurance I guess.

Did do a little retail thereapy though.

Bought this which looks lovely with a belt.

Tried on the reiss top and did nothing for me so bought a minty/greeny colour scarf with pom pom trim instead - will look good with denim jacket.

Loads of lovely stuff in comptoir but dc's had had enough by that point.

DolceeBanana · 22/04/2010 14:31

Oh I really like the dress Tracey...esp the neckline...Really like cowlish necklines for some reason...

Were you doing a reccy then before your Saturday of 'proper' shopping ?

Yes, Jigsaw have quite a lot of good things in at the moment...although I find it difficult to actually see anything whilst shopping in RL...even on my own...maybe more used to internet shopping. My DH wants to take me on a spoiling shopping treat (!), but I am seriously thinking of going out for the day somewhere fab instead with him, such as the theatre or something, and asking for a deposit into my account to buy all the things I've earmarked on the net....! I think, no offence to my dearest, but it will be tres difficile with him in tow. Besides, he has ideas about how he wants me to look, and is a bit about anything 'on-trend'. He loathes most gladiator sandals, although he thought the pied a terre ones nice, because they are v strappy and less overtly on-trend, IFYSWIM. I much prefer shopping on my own. I cannot seriously look for anything with a friend, I find it too distracting.

ApuskiDusky · 22/04/2010 15:29

Yes, Tracey I like the dress too, spotted it earlier when I was browsing the jigsaw website. Annoying about the car though!

After the sandals debacle, I have decided I need an in-between seasons shoe, so started hunting for high top trainers. I like both the Ash ones (not with the wedge though) and the Kurt Geiger ones, but seemingly have been slow off the mark as the only ones of either in a 39 I can find are white. I'd really like grey or brown, but not having any luck - let me know if there are any sightings!

Interesting to read about everyone's DHs (but sorry that things are tough at the mo everything). Overall I'd say my DH has been great at managing the balance since having ds - we both work 4 days so each have time with ds, and to be honest he does more house stuff than I do, especially with the pregnancy (but we do have a cleaner). The downside is that as he's not especially career-minded, and not in a very high-paid industry, it wouldn't be practical for me to not work. It's worked OK with one dc, but I have suspicions it could be more complicated with two....

Dolcee, I'm due at the end of June - due to finish work in two weeks though, so if all goes to plan I should have a gentle run-in to the last stages. As gentle as it can be with a 2.5 yo!

notyummy · 22/04/2010 16:05

ltec - doc sounds a sensible move. I had similar a couple of years ago and ended up wity pneumonia and needed my parents to come and take care of us. DH was working away (he came back for a couple of days but then had no choice to return). Was a wake up call to me about not ignoring stuff!

tracey - nice Jigsaw dress. I am boycotting them at the moment as recent visits have yielded nothing for me - but maybe they should go back on the list...

apuski - glad everything appears to have settled down.

traceybath · 22/04/2010 16:06

Esher - I'm suffering from your problem. Tried on purchases at home and still like the dress but pom pom scarf going straight back on saturday.

And just realised reiss don't do refunds so will have to exchange for something which is annoying but my own fault.

Dolcee - my DH would never go shopping with me - he finds shopping dull!

blossoming · 22/04/2010 16:37

I hate going shopping with dh. He has a pained expression as in 'why do you need more jeans/bags/shoes etc.
Sitting outside with dc1 and nephew playing on scooters, baby cooing in buggy, dh home tonight. Happy days.

GeorginaWorsley · 22/04/2010 17:11

Like the Jigsaw dress tracey
My DH terrible re shopping too. We usually split up and arrange a time to meet.
Most of my purchases are online now

OurLadyOfPerpetualSupper · 22/04/2010 17:22

Haven't read this new thread as I'm such a lightweight shopper and too old for lots of these lovely things, but I came across these cheapy Hasbeen-stylees while looking for sandals today.
I think I remember someone a while ago was looking for some but didn't like the price - and, co-incidentally, the makers are Swedish.

Not as pretty but about a third of the price I think.

AllBuggiedOut · 22/04/2010 17:49

Gorgeous Jigsaw dress tracey - am very tempted despite having the top already! But is it see-through?!

LetThemEatCake · 22/04/2010 17:54

MrsJ - get in quick - only 3 left in stock Felicity Fish on page 20-21 is what you need. Looks dead easy and so pretty. Basically involves 1x round cake cut up to form face, tail, upper & lower fins. Then 12 patty cakes iced in diff colours arranged kind of overlappingly (!!) btwn the 4 sections to form the scaly body. Would scan and send but you need the templates included in the book.

Forgot to mention in enumerating my woes this morn that I had big coughing fit when bfing the other day and have somehow caused spasmy pains down my side and a seized-up back. Of course, Baby L is going through major attachment phase, screams if I am out of sight and wants be in arms or sling constantly On a more positive note, looked quite springlike today in indigo skinnies, Ash high tops, coral linen tee and navy & pale pinkish boyfriend cardi (French Connection, but found in charity shop for £2 last year)

Have a fab trip OWW and lovely dress tracey what colour belt?

hope everyone else well & enjoying the sunshine

redshoesnoknickers · 22/04/2010 18:59

Hello A&W mumsnetters (looks at feet and fidgets shyly) I have been stalking lurking this thread for a while and am now deciding to be brave enough to ask advice...

So, I am going out tomorrow night - comedy club then curry/chinese or whatever and I don't get to go out too often with DH so want to look fab obv. It will be fake tan/fake hair/wag wannabe central in town so i'm thinking not too dressy but still fashion-y iykwim?

I wanted to try wearing my skinnies rolled up to mid calf with peep-toe ankle boots like these but black suede and loads nicer. And a loose batwing type black top like this but without the ribbed section - it just drapes down to mid butt length.

I am 32 5ft8 size 10/12 (mostly 12 but i'm working on it!) 34DD....will i look too try-hard/mutton??? Be honest

redshoesnoknickers · 22/04/2010 19:13

Oh and I forgot to give my latest purchases as my shopping CV:

these sandals cheap and nice so wise?
Three black maxi vest dresses 2 x ASOS 1 x New Look from £15 to £30 - avid and I hope wise
this cardi in nude which is lovely and soft
And a sky blue cropped short sleeve cardi from Tesco

Hope i'm qualified to join this thread

notyummy · 22/04/2010 19:33

redshoes welcome - no qualifications necessary! Like the top and skinnies - the boots are not my bag tbh, but that could be a personal thing. How about killer heels??

At 32 you have no reason to worry about mutton issues - those of us nearer (or past) 40 sometimes need to be a leetle bit more careful....but it shouldn't worry you!

notyummy · 22/04/2010 19:37

Love the NL sandals as well - I have a pair of silver flip flops I got from there 4 years ago that are quite similar. I have worn them alot every summer recently, and they look great with maxis.

LetThemEatCake · 22/04/2010 20:18

well there is one qualification, red - you have to luuuuuurve clothes and talking about them, and there is one item you are not allowed to have in your closet: judgey pants in relation to other people's avidity

I'm not 100% convinced by peeptoe boots - quite like the way they look sometimes in mags but find the concept a bit weird for RL .... but the thing I'm really iffy about is overloading on details so I think roll up + buckles + toes is too much. Hope that's okay to say

LetThemEatCake · 22/04/2010 20:20

also agree that your age, height & size quite firmly throws any mutton issues out of a top-floor window

traceybath · 22/04/2010 20:24

Hello Red!

I like the boots but I'm drawn to the more ummm liz hurley'esque stuff . Also laughed as when I go out I'm highlighted and fake tanned - although hopefully in a subtle rather than wag-tastic way.

LTEC - how are you feeling and have you made dr's appointment - I bet you've got a chest infection - and I'm brilliant at armchair diagnosis .

Bea is apparently a celebrity baby look a like - she is the image of angelina jolie's youngest daughter apparently! Yeap, thats me and DH - angelina and brad

Does it mean you do too much shopping when the girls in jigsaw know your dc's names .

I've gone emoticon mad!

Fel1x · 22/04/2010 20:38

Red - I like the top and skinnies but am slightly unsure of the boots too. Are your ones as detailed as the linked ones with buckles etc?

I saw in Grazia this week an A wear nude embellished tunic top for 40 pounds, but cant find it on the website anywhere. Has anyone seen it? think maybe sold out if not...

LetThemEatCake · 22/04/2010 20:38

oh tracey, I wish you would at least post pics of your children, if not yourself!

have to say, feel utterly awful. Everything is a massive effort, my back and side are in agonies (prob more so after a few days of lifting babies etc) and my chest huuuuuuurts. I think you're right, chest infection. Dr tomorrow; dh is away so gorgeous friend is watching P&C for me for an hour or so and has offered for me to go back there and just sleep while she looks after them (she has 2 of her own, so obv I will not take her up on her kind offer but it was soo appreciated)

As a plus and minus note, dh being away means no b'day party on Sat. Plus bc I am exhausted by the thought of it, minus bc "I won't get to wear my outfit"

traceybath · 22/04/2010 20:43

I'll try and put some pictures up of dc's this weekend.

LTEC - I felt dreadful a couple of months ago - you may remember I went a bit quiet and grumpy . Think it was just total exhaustion. 3 small dc's and DH's who work all hours is really really hard.

However, Bea has slept through the last 3 nights and I feel like a different person.

Does sound like you need some anti-biotics though - chest infections are horrid.

Pain that your DH is still away - what outfit had you got planned? Can you postpone party?

traceybath · 22/04/2010 20:44

Oh and meant to ask - did anyone see the article in the times about j crew? Its coming to nap very soon apparently and some of the stuff looked lovely and fairly reasonably priced too.

LetThemEatCake · 22/04/2010 20:53

it's sod's law isn't it ... just as L starts sleeping reasonable stretches, presumably due to my increased carb intake (which thankfully is still resulting in decreasing numbers on the scales) I am awake all night coughing!!

Am so so pleased for you about Bea - they're such monkeys how they just suddenly turn the corner of their own accord, aren't they?

I know exactly what you mean about when you went quiet. I have felt positively violent towards a few people the last week or so!!

dexter73 · 22/04/2010 20:55

LTEC - just read your post. You must get antibiotics. I had a chest infection about 5 years ago and I saw a doctor who wouldn't give me any ab's as he couldn't hear any chest sounds. Anyway, I struggled on for another week and felt so awful and ended up with awful chest pains so went to see another doctor who said I should have had them. In the meantime I had been coughing so much I cracked 2 of my ribs and was in agony, but the doc said I would just have to wait for them to heal which could take a few weeks.
Moral of the story - don't get fobbed off by doctor who doesn't like to give out AB's!
(Sorry about the long waffle but it was a really horrible experience that I wouldn't wish on anybody!)

LetThemEatCake · 22/04/2010 20:56

yeah, will prob do party in June (he's away 3 weeks of May) ... no biggie, warmer by then anyway

was going to wear this with metallic glads - garden party/ barbie at ours. It'll keep.

traceybath · 22/04/2010 20:56

I'm sure you really don't need to lose any more weight - and DH did point out that my bad mood also coincided with when I was not eating very much at all.
