CainI think I was MIA when you got your new job - huge congrats!!

FrancesFarmer · 01/05/2010 11:33

Allbuggiedout, this Gap bag www.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=34749&vid=1&pid=750782&scid=750782012 is a bit like the Toast one but cheaper.

What do you all think of this cuff? www.coast-stores.com/TAMARA-OMBRE-CUFF/Jewellery---view-all/coast/fcp-product/2819131289 I think it might be nice for jazzing up plain outfits like today?s which is: new grey Gap jeggings (wardrobe lifesavers) , tan gladiators from Office, blue APC chambray shirt.

Shouting at kids... I try not to but it happens sometimes. I have become way more patient since having kids though so that?s something.

Dolceebanana, could you get one of those co-sleepers that attach to the side of the bed? You could have it on your side so your baby wouldn?t be near your dh at all.

Hope a nice weekend is had by all!

blossoming · 01/05/2010 11:37

Morning all,
couple of things I missed out on last night. My fringe has been a great success. Everyone comments on how much younger I look. It's been 8 weeks already and I'm getting it trimmed next week in London.

I just went to get baby up from her nap and she was on her front all in pink sucking her thumb. Adorable.

carciofi did you get the top?

When is monkeysmama back from Italy?

Fel1x · 01/05/2010 12:56

Morning,
Loads of posts to catch up on again!
Have gone for skinnies, beige long tee with long necklace and short cowboy type boots today. Its dull here and looks like it may rain so will be putting raincoats in the car too!

everything...I like that book too...has really helped me lessen my shouty tendancies!

Red - this is indeed very very dangerous for your wallet. Has been for me!

Francis - do you think the diamante might stop it working with a daytime look (but I'm rubbish with accessories so might be wrong).

Cakey - hope your gorgeous girl enjoys her fairy risotto

vinauchocolat · 01/05/2010 13:58

LTEC just smiled seeing your 'where are you' post! aw I am missed I have had some internet issues (3g- useless)and DC illness and engaged a little too much in RL stuff which was a terrible mistake

good to see you back and sorry you were unwell and have had some bad news to contend with

have to confess you lot are ssooooo avid I haven't caught up yet, but fear I have been unwise in today's purchasing of this black maxi dress as surely maxis dresses are the floaty ethereal floral type of dress, so I suspect instead of Nicole Richie I shall be chanelling Morticia Addams.

and I may have got some overpriced flipflops

Also lost the plot slightly midweek and got this canvas sesame street bag because I simply adore sesame street and always have- it's not very 'frow' but I love it

Right off to catch up a bit! In need of grey skinnies (lightish grey) had some from zara but too big- any ideas?

blossoming · 01/05/2010 14:23

Hi vin, hope you're ok'. Love the flip flops. What colour did you get?
(I'm still ignoring all talk of maxis).
Quite dull here today. Could do with a workout to improve my mood!

traceybath · 01/05/2010 14:27

Afternoon ladies.

Vin - love that dress and flip flops - you will look very glam in them I'm sure.

Been into town for coffee and wander round shops. Comptoir have lots of gorgeous stuff but I was wise and quite broke so bought nothing.

Vin - I've got these grey skinnies amd LTEC got some in primark.

vinauchocolat · 01/05/2010 14:28

Got the light gold ones but kind of tempting to get bright pink ones, too.. havaianas kill my feet but I love flipflops so much, I live in them as soon as it's warm, work-permitting (I have been known to conspicuously flipflop into a meeting in the height of summer, oops)

yes the maxi is experimental at my 5'3 and a half!

dull here too, really cloudy and miserable looking outside

just to clarify, this dress is not nice is it, this is a will-buy-and-regret-forever purchase I think.. just like dresses in summer preferably black which is not summery at all

oh new look trouser sizing- generous or teeny?

vinauchocolat · 01/05/2010 14:38

ooh thank you tracey, they're lovely- don't have my size (fortunate for cc) but will save link!

Fleecy · 01/05/2010 14:44

everything I love a good bargain

I know you ladies aren't big on peep toe ankle boots but I'm loving my grey ones with rolled up boyfriend jeans and a slightly oversized t-shirt. Looks nice with a belted trench and scarf. Going to have to stop myself wearing this look again tomorrow!

We're not doing anything special until Monday when we're off here weather permitting. Going with my sis, BIL and niece. The DC are still a but small for some of the playground stuff so my sis and I will just have to do all the slides etc with them

eshermummy · 01/05/2010 16:01

Afternoon all
sorry I haven't had time to catch up properly since last night but am rushing on to ask some advice on a sartorial dilemma

Going out to dinner tonight - only at a mum from school's house but it's 12 for dinner so although it's only at someone's house and not at a restau it's quite a full on eve in my book iyswim.

Was planning to wear a red FC dress, this one but in red,it's the red of heinz tomato soup with gold zip pockets.
But I don't know what shoes to wear (planning on bare legs natch, already have scarlet pedi so sorted there

Choices are

  1. these but they are dark brown not black will that be odd? also gives me handbag dilemmas......
  1. Old pair of black leather peeptoes but they are v low fronted and the heel is only about 2" and I always think they make my legs look a little stumpy

Will only black do?

I do have a lovely pair of gold 4" platform gladiator sandals (chie mihara so sort of clumpy) but I think they may be just a bit too full-on

Help me o W&A-ers please.

notyummy · 01/05/2010 16:14

Loving the All Saints Secret Garden dress and the Phase 8 Maxi!

Go for the glads esher!

traceybath · 01/05/2010 16:20

Esher - go for gold

eshermummy · 01/05/2010 16:53

thanks ladies, I really think the gold ones might be too much though for a dinner party at home
will have to have a try on later and a bit of a dig around at the back of my wardrobe to see what other shoe options I can unearth
I do have the most uncomfortable shoeboots known to man which are black and very high but everytime I try them on I remember why I never wear them, they are so blardy uncomfortable

vinauchocolat · 01/05/2010 16:59

gold glads esher! Nice brown ones though, but gold would go better I think and also the dress is really quite lovely but also simple so you can get away with more mad shoes..

fleecy hope you're having a nice time, I am awful on childrens' play stuff I go on all ofit if let loose!

this pm have temporarily diverted attention from A&W to online wine purchasing this is bad very bad..and possibly quite unwise

vinauchocolat · 01/05/2010 17:04

oops x-posted, the brown ones would go too, gold sounded most fun but the brown ones are v nice, I don't think it has to be black- that kind of red goes with dark brown definitely in vin's book

carciofi · 01/05/2010 18:46

Esher, go for the gold! I also think the Stuart Weitzman would work.

Blossoming, annoyingly, I couldn't find the t-shirt though I spent ages looking and no one knew what I was talking about. I wonder if I could get away with the 10 as the 12s are sold out online, one of the reviews said it was on the generous side.

I bought this Karen Millen top in navy because I had a credit note and a pair of nude patent ballet flats at Russell and Bromley, however I have decided they are too uncomfortable and I'm going to return them. I wanted to look in Zara but it was unbearably crowded.

Vin, the Sesame St bag is so cute. Not that keen on the dress, sorry.

Wow Everything, great bargain!

Tracey, did you buy this blouse? I am thinking of getting it. EASYSP10 for 20% off.

Looks like a fun place, Fleecy!

RedBlueRed · 01/05/2010 19:02

Wow, finally caught up with the week.

OWW I was squirming in my seat when I read about your ds willy injury - glad all is ok.

I love the Ink handbag, the peacock bangle and the breton top. Going to have to get on asos next and have a proper look.

Ltec thank for the congrats. I had a look at your blog too which I enjoyed reading.

I'm really pleased to be back at work at it forces me back into heels and pencil skirts which I love wearing as I feel so feminine in them. It leaves me wondering why I revert to jeans and fleeces otherwise.
Spending time lurking on this thread is a huge inspiration and I am making much more of an effort.
And No, you are not cliquey at all.

I like looking at beautiful people too, there was a woman at DS' school when I was off work and every day I would check out her outfit. Most of the other mums are countryish folk but she would be there looking glorious and I was . She is also very tall and slim whereas I am short and stodgier than I would like.
I resolve to do something about it.

I hope everyone is having a lovely weekend.

traceybath · 01/05/2010 19:06

Carciofi - oooh haven't bought blouse yet - will though I think - you are the queen of codes .

Just waiting for DH and DS1 to come back with take-away - a rare treat in this house.

J brand jeans I have decided are the most skinny making ones out there - they're like magic aren't they? I look a size smaller in them than I do in any of my others.

blossoming · 01/05/2010 19:18

carciofi, it's worth a try. I'm still buying 14 from habit but should be buying 12 tops.

I've been in a foul mood today. Went to deliver work back to some retired students of mine, took my boots off, and the lady insisted I wore a pair of her fluffy pink slippers with pompoms 'in case I caught cold'. I was mortified. Then I had to call dh to come and fetch me as it had started pouring and he gave me a very strange look indeed!

One thing about living in your hometown is that on bank holidays your old school friends turn up to visit their families. So I'm going to a friend's house tonight to meet up with a few of them. What to wear? What if there's the possibility of landing in the pub?
I need to look fabulous that's for sure.
Jbrands, suede boots, something and a scarf. One of them is always, where d'you get that? How much did it cost? So rude.

traceybath · 01/05/2010 19:25

Blossoming - lol at the slippers! I too would have been mortified - I need heels or disappear with the children.

I don't think we're cliquey - we welcome all - god lets face it - we love to encourage others to spend money too.

We do need a meet up in the summer though.

Asking the cost of something is terribly rude I think.

I am loving this whole look - really want a slip off the shoulder top.

Friend and I were discussing how we always have a full list of stuff on our wish lists on NAP and then get a little sad when they sell out of said items. Not that we were really ever going to buy them - its a bit like those books I had as a little girl where you stuck pictures of clothes on a model. I think thats the NAP wish list for grown ups.

Zembo · 01/05/2010 19:29

Hi ladies. Sorry I haven't been on much - find it difficult to keep up with you lot!

Carciofi - thats a fab Brora code ,do you know when it expires. We're off to Lanzarote on Friday and don't want to order anything to arrive whilst we're off - Brora are a bit slow with deliveries.

I've already awaiting delivery of this dress unlikely to keep it (no doubt will be too long0, but curious to see what its like. Also this navy star scarf and some cedar balls and bags to finally store all my cashmere bits away.

Today I bought [http://www.sunglasses-shop.co.uk/uk-sunglasses/Tom-Ford-Sunglasses/Tom-Ford-Jennifer-Violet-Gradien t/15981.htm these sunnies] - really pleased with them esp the colour

Zembo · 01/05/2010 19:31

Messed up on links but Brora dress is the rosebud print one and the sunnies are Tom Ford Jennifers in the new purple gradient shade!
