Will someone remind me why these are no good?
Online they look great, lovely colours, great price, just what I am looking for but have a feeling it's too good to be true.
Tracey was it you that tried these? What was wrong with them?
What's uniqlo sizing on jeans like?

DolceeBanana · 30/04/2010 22:51

Can I just ask, because in my golden...oooh, I love my babies moment, I am having my usual guilt ridden experience of an evening where I re-live my firm telling off of my older 2 (aged 3.9 and 2.8, to be precise), oh, okay, I relive my shouting (which usually they ignore)...please tell me I'm not alone...

I'm not Mumzilla, am I...?

I try so hard to NOT SHOUT...but it's pointless.....they carry on and on screaming and squawking, egging each other on until catastrophe, someone gets hurt and there are lots of tears...okay normal kids but do we all do this...?

DolceeBanana · 30/04/2010 22:55

I should elucidate...scenario...DD (2.8), has pooed on potty....not pleasant, v v messy, won't keep still, hands everywhere, and DS (3.9) running up and bashing her playfully; both screaming, squawking...it's the middle of dinner, and I'm trying to wipe said botty...Well, I got cross....v cross!

VerityBrulee · 30/04/2010 22:55

About 5 pages have passed since I was on this thread yesterday, wow!

Just clicked on the link to the ebay wallis leather t shirt - it sold for 175!!!

VerityBrulee · 30/04/2010 23:05

Dolce that sort of thing is commonplace in our house, although the protagonists are older, the noise and messing about is the same, so you are not alone!

My three all have their birthdays within 6 weeks of each other [very bad planning emoticon], so not much clothes buying for me recently as it is all going on toys My sweet ds2 will be 10 on sunday, he is such a lovely boy, and yesterday when I was at the chemist there was a new mum with her one week old who was the absolute image of ds2 at that age, seeing him made me so nostalgic. And Broody. Sigh.

I have made a little purchase tonight. I have one of these bracelets on a distressed silver, and love it, I wear it a lot. Just bought a gold one. Discount code MVMMAY015 gives you 15% off, but only lasts til midnight tonight.

Fleecy · 30/04/2010 23:07

Dolcee - I think it's perfectly normal! Am not a big shouter myself but do sometimes just have to leave the room for a few secs and take deep breaths!

Wish me luck ladies... DS is in a big bed so I may have something of a rough night if he falls out or realises he can get out and wreak havoc!

eshermummy · 30/04/2010 23:09

DB- much to my shame i am a shouty-mum too
Mine are 5 and 3 and are either whooping it up hysterically and whipping eachother (joyfully) into a frenzy and not listening to a thing I shout say or fighting and wailing and screaming at eachother and not listenng to a thing I shoutsay.

Having children has taught me that I am not a very patient or relaxed person really. I like things how I like them and that doesn't really work with kids so I find it all quite stressful at times.

I did feel quite guilty about it especially when they were younger but it does get easier as they get older I think and I have slightly reconciled myself to the fact that I do not meet the parenting ideal that I had in my mind's eye before I had kids but I love them and they love me so it doesn't really matter.

DolceeBanana · 30/04/2010 23:11

Thanks VB and Fleecy!

Good luck with the 'big bed'...ours funnily never leave their big beds...just shout for me - sometimes Daddy...don't know why...

Happy Birthday to DS vb ! Hope he has a fun day...ours are July, Aug and Oct- expensive times!

eshermummy · 30/04/2010 23:12

Right, part of the reason i am shouty is coz i am always tired so am off to bed as DH has already gone up and left me with turning everything off duty........
night all x

DolceeBanana · 30/04/2010 23:15

Esher, I'm not a v relaxed person either...things bug me...I don't like noise...well, lots and lots of it!

I hate shouting - they don't really listen anyway....don't get me wrong, it's not all the time...but I feel really bad when I shout, and it has the opposite effect, but my patience has walked out of the room by then! Thanks for your reassurance!

LetThemEatCake · 30/04/2010 23:15

MrCake fine about babies in the room/ in the bed

re: having more, yes I would love to but probably won't. I have to weigh up my desire to be pregnant again/ experience childbirth again/ have a newborn again with the needs of my existing children. I don't necessarily think it would benefit them to have another sibling and could very well do the opposite - ie a more stressed mother, stretched between them, not enough time for adequate one on one. It's a tough call but I think I owe it to them not to have any more. L is now the age P was when I got pg with C (7 months) so it does make me think though ...

Dolce - we had the most gorgeous day and I was so pleased at the lack of shouting even though there'd been a few 'incidents' and irritations ... and then at bathtime C chucked both of the bathmats into the bath and I shouted at him and felt terrible about ending the day on a bad note Lots of cuddles afterwards but I do hate myself when I lose my temper.

Cake - I so get your thoughts on more babes - I have this never say never thing but really, I feel so like 3 is just right...that 4 now would maybe be a stretch too far (certainly for me), although I feel a bit sad too- for the finality of it all -God I sound a right loon! I know that you wouldn't dilute your love, but at the ages mine are, in would be a bit unfair to them.

I have areal thing about seeing them go to bed all happy and relaxed and hate seeing them upset when they go to bed...so talk about magical things and what special events we've got coming up! Although tonight, DS (who's been having made up stories from Mr D recently) said, 'tell Daddy, I don't want anymore tales about King Gordon of Gordonland...It's too scary! I dreamed about it, and the dungeon frightened me!!!' Oh, he did, did he? Well now.......

DolceeBanana · 30/04/2010 23:29

Bloody hell...is that the time. Off to bed...DH will be staggering coming home soon...Nighty night guys

AllBuggiedOut · 30/04/2010 23:34

Has anybody seen any cheerful large-ish day bags, circa £40? A friend has asked for one for her birthday. Colour and/or pattern are good - I like this Toast one but £££. Don't think it's to replace a handbag, but to carry around with nappies etc although she doesn't need or want a full-on changing bag. Have seen a couple of possible on Asos, but none really grab me. TIA.

OllieWollieWoo · 01/05/2010 08:16

Morning - wow you lot have been busy! We had Queens Day here in Holland yesterday - big bank holiday with lots going on! I got away with the whole wear orange thing but throwing on a coral scarf! Boys did look v cute in their orange t-shirts & baseball caps tho! Our neighbourhood always organises a whole day full of events and yesterday we did a childrens market (picked up some playmobil/cars and a bike for DS1!), a bike parade following a brass band, and lots of kids activities - DH made wooden bird seed holders with the boys! Day finished with a fab band playing at the end of our street under a big horse chesnut tree where they set up a bar and BBQ - all the neighbours were there dancing away including DH and me (helped along by the wine!). Just one of those lovely happy family days!

Have been meaning to post re Primark jeans - I brought a 10euro pair of indigo slim fit ones a while back and didnt really wear them but dug them out the other week when it was too warm for boots and they are fab - just the right length on me to wear with flats. Will be going back for more and may even brave the skinnies!

Fe1ix DS is doing fine at school - he does mornings only with a 1 to 1 and has settled in OK. Friends wise you will be surprised - C is not really bothered about friends but there is a gorgeous little girl in his class who has taken a real shine to him and won't take no for an answer! He actually asked her for a hug the other day on the way in so I think her persistence is paying off!

Back to rain and cold here so skinnies/long white vest/nude cropped cardi and tan boots here. My boots are my guilty secret because they are whispers Paris Hilton brand In my defence they were only £30ish from TK Max but I do love them.

Is anyone doing anything marvellous this BH weekend then? We've got a 4th birthday party to go to on Mon but other than that nada. Am craving excitement so might have to investigate what's on...

redshoesnoknickers · 01/05/2010 09:02

verity I love those bracelets

buggied if you have time I like TK Max for unusual bags

DB and esher another shouty mum here

Not sure I can bring myself to try on jeans in Primark - it's traumatic enough in well laid out shops with decent changing rooms shudders

That wallis leather top is horrid! Why would someone pay £175

Am still lusting after giraffe top...think this thread is bad for my bank balance!

MarshaBrady · 01/05/2010 09:03

Bit of a long shot, but did anyone see the Rag&Bone very pale grey leggings in the ST Style mag a couple of weeks ago?

(Can't find 'em anywhere).

LetThemEatCake · 01/05/2010 09:11

good lord, don't try anything on in Primark! Just grab and run!!

bank hol weekend plans - ditto the 4th birthday party, we've got a fairy-themed party this arvo complete with afternoon tea in a fairy grotto (which dd is very excited about although she keeps referring to it as the 'fairy risotto' )

Tomorrow lunch/ barbie with friends - fingers x'd for good weather - I have maxis on my mind - dh will be flying back from US in the a.m so will catch a cab straight from airport and meet us there.

Your day sounds lovely OWW. I have not been to Holland in years but would love to go back with the dcs. We have friends/ family in Rotterdam.

VerityBrulee · 01/05/2010 09:53

Brandalley have Ash on sale at the moment, quite a few high tops on there

Esher - I have the indigo denim Uniqlo straight skinnies an think they great, esp as come up big so get to order tiny size that am not elsewhere. But... tracey ordered the coloured ones and said the fabric is cheap so returned them. Go see in RL?

Re Primark I can only get to the Marble Arch one which is mayhem. So never go since DD - actually fear for her safety in there!!

DD was in our room in her Moses basket for first 4 months then in her own bed in her own room. She sleeps well there. If she is unsettled occasionally I pull her in w us which is so lovely. But Boone sleeps that well.

Re babies, once I decide I am done there will be no going back. Am not best suited to SAHM w babies. I adore DD and we have some great times together, but I need more adult "pursuits" in my life too ie part time work. I have no doubt I will get shouty when she is older due to chaos and normal toddler enjoying acting up. Was lawyer and used to a bit more order. Although the hours are pretty similar!!
