tracey

LLBean · 27/04/2010 13:55

I can't get on with slips - it reminds me too much of my granny's washing line!

I was planning on the big flesh tone underwear too. Like both you ladies, I too am short so need to be careful, I can't usually pull off the dress over trousers. Although I did see a young "slip" of a thing wearing it in the shop with navy leggings and ballet flats which worked well.

blossoming · 27/04/2010 13:56

OMG, my mum is wearing that tank top and blouse combo as we speak!!!!

traceybath · 27/04/2010 13:56

Oooh LL was she wearing a belt too?

Am loving the photo Allbuggied.

DolceeBanana · 27/04/2010 13:56

Oh Cakey, great you are back; very sorry that you have had bad personal news from back home , but its wonderful that this is sort of reuniting you with your Mum...Sorry we have all been pestering you! Forgive us!
Take care

Hello LLBean!

Well, on a lighter note, despite the God-awful experience of yesterdays knicker wetting competition my DD seemed to be engaged in (bless her little cotton socks), she is amazing today, and has actually asked for the loo and done both 1's and 2's on it!!!!!Yeeeeeeeayyyyyyyy! Fingers crossed!

Yes, I am now having a couple of frugal weeks....I want to get my sofas recovered...and its ££££s but they are lovely shapes, massive and very well made, and would cost ££££££ to replace ! Plus, since they are being recovered I want new cushions for them etc etc etc....not that I might not make the odd clothing purchase you understand!

Tricky what to ask DH for, but list would undoubtedly include perfume, skincare, sunglasses, luxury brand scarves (LV leopard print?),sunscreen (def. I love Sisley stuff but £££s).... Oh and mountains of mags....Now, I doubt he'd manage all that but a select few maybe, dunno....

AllBuggiedOut · 27/04/2010 13:58

Did the navy legging show through LLB? I'd be worried about seeing the top of dark coloured leggings through the dress...

Asos package just arrived with the Full Circle maxi. Not sure I like the sleeves

blossoming · 27/04/2010 14:06

Oh, how lovely is this bag?

Here is the top I've ordered, in black, for my night out nap-a-likey (copyright pending ollie!!) outfit.

traceybath · 27/04/2010 14:14

Lovely bag and top Blossoming.

As an aside - I was in Asda this morning - oh yes its all glamour round these parts. Stocking up on cheap nappies/wipes etc and bought Bea the sweetest white cotton, puff sleeved blouse for £6 - very similar to this one.

So worth a look if anyone has a little DD.

Romanarama · 27/04/2010 14:29

welcome back cake, sorry for your bad news but good that you're getting some support for the rest of the year.

Look at these great flip flop alternative for the beach!

redshoesnoknickers · 27/04/2010 18:55

buggied the sleeves are different than you expect from the pics aren't they? sort of looser...I rather like them.

romanarama those are horrid - remind me of some i had from woolworths when i was about 7

Romanarama · 27/04/2010 19:02

I've bought that Full Circle Maxi from Asos so will let you know what it's like when it gets here. Also got a cute tee for ds1. Trying to buy the vagabond clogs too, though having some probs with the website. Will report back if I ever get them.

Romanarama · 27/04/2010 19:05

I know red I was just looking at glads and they made me laugh

RedBlueRed · 27/04/2010 19:55

Ah LTEC, glad you are on the mend and that your Mum is going to be staying with you. Sorry to hear you have had bad news.

Thanks to Ollie and FF for your posts this morning too.

My NL order has arrived, the shoes are gorgeous and vertiginous, the blazer is nice but badly creased and more of an inky blue than the navy I expected, not sure what to do with it. Do things often arrive so obviously squashed? Its dry clean only too so would it need to be cleaned to get rid of the creases?
The dress is waaaaaaaaaaay too short and is going back as my thighs will not stand the scrutiny.

Another modern take on the jelly sandal

PlumSykes · 27/04/2010 19:57

Evening all,

Had a lovely day at Cabot's Circus in Bristol today, with one of the mums from DD's school, and our respective babies.

Started well in Urban Outfitters, bought APC navy/cream thin-stripe vest top. Expensive, but the perfect bra-covering cut, and great length too. Also in UO, bought 2 silky camisoles with a button detail bib, one cornflower blue with a pretty smudgy-floral print, one in cream printed with tiny bright blue and turquiose birds.

I could have bought lots more in there, actually, but as it was our first stop, thought I better be wise.

I did try-and love- these heels in orange, black and gorgeous grey. They were too high for me to manage for more than an hour or so though, so no good for a wedding or similar, which is what I would be buying them for, as have no heel-wearing social life, only play-doh wearing one. May reconsider though, as were great price, and also, I loved them.

Went to House of Fraser, looked at the Alexa in Ink. It is a dream of a colour, and I really loved it, but won't be spending that much on an it-bag that I will go off in a season.

Also liked the Day Birger and Mikkelsson in there-lovely, but feel you really have to buy into the whole look, whcih would be v. £££.

Lots of pretties to look at in Harvey Nichols - loved some of the Halston Heritage dresses, a couple of the DVF prints and a top from See by Chloe.

White Company, nothing for me, but thought this in white might be good for traceybath. It would prob be too long, but could be shortened, and would not be too bulky/swamping for your teeny-ness.

H&M was carnage, ran away screaming, then saw a lovely cropped navy belted trench-style jacket in Topshop, but DS was too fed-up for me to make mind up, so we went to Carluccio, and then popped in here- it was just the best gift shop, though I only bought some cards for the drawer. It is having an Alex Monroe trunk sale next week, so may have to go back!

A quick whizz into Gap for some bits for the DCs, and then we were home in time for school run-just!

AllBuggiedOut · 27/04/2010 20:30

The sleeves on the Full Circle dress are really big and sticky-out on me red. It's also too long, but I've noticed the size is 14L (ordered a 12...) so wonder if this is part of the problem. Find it very flattering from the boobs down, though! Might try returning for proper size.

PlumSykes · 27/04/2010 21:20

Just been browsing the DP site, some cute maxis here

Fleecy · 27/04/2010 22:15

Plum - I bought this the other day - it's longer on me than it looks in the pics and I bought it a size down so slightly more fitted. 20% off as well so only £24. Plan to wear with beachy hair, metallic flats and chunky wood jewellery, maybe shrunken denim jacket when cooler?

I hate jelly shoes - made to wear them on holiday as a child!

LTEC - good to see you back and to hear that your mum's going to be around but so sorry to hear you've had awful news too. Hope you're holding up okay. And you know we're always here for a mindless diversion

notyummy · 27/04/2010 22:15

That Full Circle dress keeps on speaking to me....but I will be strong!

I do NOT need another maxi.

Barbabelle · 28/04/2010 08:06

Romanara, I ordered the Vagabond sandals a few days ago after seeing Ourlady's link. They should arrive very soon and I'll report back. The largest size they had in the tan colour was 40, though, so I'm not overly optimistic. I've tried Hasbeens in a 40 and 41 and they're too narrow.

Fleecy I really like the dp maxi. Quite tempted...

Romanarama · 28/04/2010 09:06

Barbarelle I got a tan size 40 too, but had to get them delivered to my mum in the UK, and she's not coming here til May 12. Hope they fit as I'll prob be outside the return date by then. I think they will be fabulous with my j brand leggings, that were much cheaper than this in the US!

Plum I love that Alexa bag. Has anyone seen something similar under £200?

PlumSykes · 28/04/2010 09:11

Roman, am considering ordering this in navy to see how it measures up. What do you think?

carciofi · 28/04/2010 09:25

LTEC, that is wonderful that your mother is coming over.

Romanarama, I really like those J Brand leggings.

Plum, sounds like a great day. I like the bag. Let me know what it is like if you get it. I haven't heard of that brand before.

Blossoming, may have to copy you if you don't mind, and get the M&S top.

Lovely dress, Fleecy.

My brother has just sent DD a gorgeous little outfit, red stripey top and jeans. She will look like a Mini me!

I have a huge mobile bill, it is from trying to get on to the Outnet sale when I was in Dublin.

OK, off to the gym now.

Romanarama · 28/04/2010 09:30

Plum I wouldn't buy that as it's too small for day for me (I need to fit a book, little diary, purse, phone, small water bottle, pen, keys, car keys, and doggy snacks). I like the site though - very nice. Will have a browse.

I think I should be looking at Oushka probably - does everyone like their Oushka bags?
