Parenting is so difficult isn't it? Hope she'll be back to normal soon mrsj.

On the plus side I found an ancient (3 yrs) pair of sky high lkbennet platforms in my wardrobe which look pretty good with my new jbrands. So I'm half way to my nap-a-likey outfit. Have ordered a highly recommended black top from m&s for £12! Will link when I can.
Those jeans are amazing.

notyummy · 26/04/2010 22:13

We have all been there mrsjuan! Hope she is better soon.

I'm really new to these A & W threads so I don't know if its normal for LTEC to disappear for a while but considering she was feeling so very poorly I am really concerned about her, clearly I am not the only one.
To those who know her better: do you think everything is ok? Is there any way anyone can check to make sure she is ok, or am I just being a fusspot? Sorry if I am being a fusspot...Its in my nature, although I hide it most of the time, I think. [fuss]

Hopefully soon there will be a post from a very cross LTEC saying 'STOP BEING SUCH A FUSSPOT - IS A PERSON NOT ALLOWED A RL?'

RedBlueRed · 26/04/2010 23:50

Everything, I had a climber and I dealt with it by carpet tacking his playsuit to the floor.

I'm kidding!
Eyes in the back of the head and handfulls of Kalms.

Good luck with that.

FrancesFarmer · 27/04/2010 00:34

I had LTEC's fashion blog bookmarked from an earlier W&A topic and lo and behold, she has updated it today. (Not a stalker, I swear - just a fash blog junkie!)

I've had a similar experience with River Island, LTEC - I derided it for years but the one in town moved to a new location, I went to take a look and to my surprise, found some really good pieces amongst all the bling.

You can never rule any shop out completely but I have a terrible habit of doing so. Possibly related to the fact that I get so little time to browse shops these days - I have to be super selective about which ones to visit.

OllieWollieWoo · 27/04/2010 07:33

Morning all!

I love the term nap-a-likey Blossoming - think thats what I should be aspiring to look like and will adopt it forthwith!
Just read LTEC's blog too Cain - hopefully she is feeling better.
MrsJ - bless! I've had a few moments like that! Latest was when DS1 insisted his new trainers were too small and I said they couldn't be - only to find there was still some scrunched up paper inside the toe!
Everything - both DSs were climbers and tbh there is not a lot you can do - if you tell them not to climb something it just makes it more attractive! Sound advice from Cain re eyes in back of head tho! Mine were surprising agile and whilst giving me heart palpatations all the time, didnt take too many tumbles!

I found this cardi on the Next website which I thought is quite nice here - I can't really wear nude shades but may get away with this and like what the model has with it. Its says a 2 to 4 week wait tho for ordering - which is usually Next code for out of stock!

hi everyone
super quick as it's a nursery run morning. Haven't read posts but have had a couple of FB messages letting me know that you lovely lot have been concerned about me Many thanks. Have had a few days of self-imposed iPhone and internet exile and went to ground with dh and dcs. Have not been well (but on the mend now thanks to a/bs) and have had some devastating news from home.

Upshot of all of this is that my wonderful mum is moving over to the UK to be nearer to me until we go back home next year. This is going to change my life in so many ways and I can't wait. She will arrive mid-June.

In the meantime, dh has to go to US tomorrow. Am so messed up at the mo that I can't think what to put on my shopping list. Any ideas for non-confusing airport shopping?

Hope you are all well and thanks again for being such wonderful friends. That sounds daft and a bit sad, but I hope you know what I mean.

bunnymother · 27/04/2010 08:16

Cakey - good morning!! Saw you had posted and actually said "ah, Cakey!" and had to quickly look. Thought something was wrong, but hope the few days bunkered down w DH and DCs helped you come to terms w devo news from home. . How wonderful that your mum is coming over!! Airport shopping, assume that's really alcohol, make up or perfume? Pound not exactly killing the USD so not sure what would be bargainous. Sure someone will have some tips.

MrsJ - you are SO not the only one to miss something that your DC is complaining about. Agree that if she was really upset she wouldn't have settled. Esp as our DDs sound quite similar.

DD has used the safety corner cushions on the coffee table as handles to raise herself on, so has pulled them off and is pushing her walker w one on her hand. Oh dear.

notyummy · 27/04/2010 08:31

ltec - good so see you back, but not so good to hear your news. I hope that you feel able to deal with whatever it is, and that the news that your mum is coming over will buoy you up. Also pleased that the a/bs are working.

Airport shopping - any skin products/cosmetics you perticularly love? I quite often get DH to buy the twin travel packs of Touche Eclat when he goes abroad with work for example. There are usually a few good skincare deals in the Duty Free, although you have to be selective, as much of it you can get online for the same (or cheaper!)

hellsbelles · 27/04/2010 08:50

oh cakey - so sorry you are going through all this. We have been so worried about you. And will be here to support you through it all with wise and avid advice

Will have a think on airport shopping

MarshaBrady · 27/04/2010 09:13

Ltec good to see you. Sorry to hear you have terrible news .

It will be lovely to have your mum around. Hope you are ok.

Fel1x · 27/04/2010 09:40

LTEC - glad to see you that you are ok, but am very sorry that you have had bad news. I hope that your few days of just being with your family helped a little and its not too long to wait until your Mum gets here. How lovely of her to come and be with you.

blossoming · 27/04/2010 10:17

Good to have you back ltec. having your mum around will ease the strain I'm sure. My mum lives across the drive as we built a house on their garden. The fact that she can pop by if it's pouring down so I only have to take one to school, or last week I got to go to the gym when dh was home late from London. It makes a huge difference. She does get on my nerves sometimes but that's a small price to pay.
Like I said before you do too much and must take your illness as a sign to slow down and put your health first.
We are your friends and we do care very much.
Sorry to hear you've had bad news.

VerityBrulee · 27/04/2010 10:29

Great to hear from you LTEC, was worrying about you. So sorry you've had bad news, be kind to yourself. It will be great to have your mum around, I remember you saying dh was going to be away for ages during the summer.

Perfume from the duty free, I can never bring myself to pay real life prices for it!

ApuskiDusky · 27/04/2010 10:36

Glad to see you around LTEC, though sorry to hear you have had bad news. You sound so relieved though at the prospect of your mum coming over, glad to hear that will make things better for you.

The only thing I tend to buy at airport duty free is dark toblerone..

traceybath · 27/04/2010 11:52

Yeay - LTEC is back. Sorry about news though but good your mums coming over.

Now - is DH flying from Heathrow?

If its airport shopping I'd go for make up and skincare stuff but I know you're not much of a make up wearer are you.

Now - could he get stuff delivered to him in the US? He could get you the houlihans from NAP US for £156

Oh and champagne is always good

LLBean · 27/04/2010 12:10

I am finally de-lurking. Just wanted to say thanks to all of you stylish ladies for the Hasbeen recommendations. Mine arrived on Saturday and I love LOVE them!!

tracey - hope you don't mind that you have a style stalker. I bought the Jigsaw striped dress and now can't wait to wear it. DH very pleased too.

I'm now waiting with baited breath for your latest recommendations

traceybath · 27/04/2010 12:48

Hi LL!

Now, the jigsaw dress - I was going to ask Allbuggied about that as well.

Will you wear it as a dress - its just I tried it on again yesterday and its very see-through. So think I'll be wearing it over white skinnies with a belt on hips and sort of pulled over if that makes sense.

Esher - love the blouse but like you am having a couple of frugal weeks. I want to wear all my new purchases before I buy anything else.

redshoesnoknickers · 27/04/2010 13:34

Well I am wearing my new asos dress today I tried it with platform wedges but it looked wrong - shoes too heavy for light floaty fabric maybe, so gold NL flat sandals and chunky bangles it is. Am liking it - very swishy!

I was going to wear full circle maxi but I realised that one of the tasks in my oh-so-glamourous day is mopping the kitchen floor and I didn't want to risk bleach on the hem. sigh i'm sure I should be wafting around art galleries and eating moule mariniere al fresco instead of trying to force myself to work and cleaning the bloody floor!

Glad you are not too poorly LTEC - what about some Victoria's Secret underwear from America? Not sure you can buy it over here and I bought a gorgeous set from there when I went to Miami (about a million years ago! OK then 6/7 years ago)

AllBuggiedOut · 27/04/2010 13:36

Good to see you back online LTEC. Mums can be fantastic can't they?

tracey & LLB I am intending to wear it as a dress - with large flesh coloured knickers! But think it's a height-of-summer only frock and bought it with my summer holiday in mind. Or I might put on a slip... But I can't do dress over trousers, am too short and hippy. And if I wanted to wear trousers, I have the t-shirt to do that with

traceybath · 27/04/2010 13:39

I did wonder about a slip too .

Yeap - I'll wear it as a dress on holiday and perhaps here if its very hot.

Just don't want people to think i'm doing a 'lady di' - now does anyone else remember those photos of her in a transparent skirt?

bunnymother · 27/04/2010 13:47

Tracey - I def remember those photos of Diana in a transparent skirt. Mean spirited photographers for doing that to her. Although she did have gorgeous legs.
