Credit to Everything for the lovely new title!

Carciofi you've just made me think of something. Choo dress your kids in something easy to spot at Disney like a red and white stripey top, and put a card with your cellphone number in their pocket.

Romanarama · 28/04/2010 09:38

I'm going to wear sandals today as it's nearly hot. Weather forecast for the weekend is 11oC and rainy

Romanarama · 28/04/2010 10:09

more desirable jellies

Whelk · 28/04/2010 10:45

Fleecy - I really like that dress as an everyday easy to wear maxi, styling it as you describe. But I have been put off by the length as it looks a bit short in the picture. How tall are you? I'm 5 ft 7 (size 10). Do you think it would be OK?

LLBean · 28/04/2010 11:17

Wow this thread moves fast!
Tracey, AllBuggiedOut - the belt she wore with the striped Jigsaw dress looked like this

I have two weddings this summer and need something to wear to both. One will be in Westminster and very chic - the groom's family are from Paris - both his mum and sister work for Louis Vuitton (as you do) and the other wedding is in Ireland - think good old fashioned big family do.
I could wear the same to both as the guestlists are completely separate so don't mind spending £££. I am 5ft2, size 8-10 and ample of bosom. I love the look of this Layla as recommended on here before but any All Saints dresses I have tried in the past haven't suited me. Any suggestions??

blossoming · 28/04/2010 11:35

Morning all.
Got caught out yesterday pm on the school run, it was really warm! Dressing for a warm spring day is hard without boyf cardis and scarves to cover lumps and bumps!
I'm wearing the jigsaw breton with skinnies and ballet flats today. I feel a bit exposed, tummy wise, although
I've definitely lost weight and have no bloating since I gave up sugar. I have a summer weight scarf which will do for this pm.

The top has been despatched carciofi. I'll let you know what it 's like. I'm doing arm toning exercises with my weights in preparation!

I want to link some lovely accross the body bags but will wait for later as dh wfh.

Whelk · 28/04/2010 12:18

Just caught up with the rest of the thread (I can never get up to speed) and gosh LTEC I'm so sorry to hear you have had some devastating news. Look after yourself.

Blossoming- I know just what you mean about coverage. I feel quite naked without boyfriend cardi/ scarf to disguise lumps and bumps although on Sunday when it was too warm for either and I also wore a breton on its own with skinnies I had several 'you look svelte' compliments. I actually felt fresh, simple and spring like too!

AllBuggiedOut · 28/04/2010 12:20

Thanks LLB. I tried on the Layla this weekend - I'm a 10-12 and 5' 4/5". It was too long on me, I looked swamped, so fear it may be a dress for the tall... This was better on me; shorter and stiffer fabric so less "billowing".

notyummy · 28/04/2010 12:52

LLBean - how about this

Any favourite cuts or colours??

redshoesnoknickers · 28/04/2010 12:53

I like both those All Saints dresses - lovely!

My ebay gold wedges turned up and are absolutely hideous! Am on the hunt again but all the shoes atm are so fugly! I hate clogs so sticking to wedges but not much around...am considering ordering these maybe or these zebra ones what do you think? Or any other suggestions? Just for wearing with black maxi's or rolled up jeans etc... most of the sandals out there look like 80 year olds would wear them

notyummy · 28/04/2010 12:56

Also LLBean this has been linked to before on this thread and I think it could like v slinky for a wedding with the right accessories.

notyummy · 28/04/2010 12:57

Think I prefer the second pair redshoes

LLBean · 28/04/2010 13:12

Oooh notyummy - I really like the Karen Millen dress, the neck detail is lovely.
I tend to go for quite muted colours so the print on this would be a departure for me. I haven't had much luck with my online purchases recently so I'm planning a trip to London next week for some RL action. Am v excited, DH will have DS after nursery and I am free to swan around for a full day. Have booked tickets for the Grace Kelly exhibition at the V&A too, can't wait!!

blossoming · 28/04/2010 13:31

Ooh, I've just seen a photo on page 7 of times fashion of a woman in skinny combats wearing, wait for it, desert boots. It's a great look and might be the answer to my spring footwear dilemma. Wonder if they come in black?

LetThemEatCake · 28/04/2010 13:46

black desert boots here blossoming.

Was wearing heeled take on the desert boot thing this morning these in stone with skinnies rolled up to sit on boot and trench coat. Getting hot now so have changed into UO combats and glads for sandpit.

Thanks again for all your messages, concern & kind wishes. It really does mean a lot

LetThemEatCake · 28/04/2010 13:48

also blossoming - reddirect have metallic Ash hi-tops with a 15% disc for red readers, if you decide to give them a go.

Whelk · 28/04/2010 14:49

LTEC - Good to 'read' you again!! Hope you are ok. I like those boots. New Look can be fab for shoes.

redshoes- I prefer the second pair.

LLBean - love the McQ dress. Would look fab with metallic heels.

Wonder if anyone can help. My beloved Grannie died in September. I was very close to her and just before she died she gave me 250 pounds (sorry I can't do pound signs with my keyboard . I would like some jewellery to keep forever. Does anyone have any suggestions? I would prefer a necklace (longish) or bracelet I think as I can't be trusted with earrings.

LetThemEatCake · 28/04/2010 15:00

Oh Whelk so sorry to hear that. What about Alex Monroe? My personal favourite. I have the silver dragonfly and I think Plum and Hells have the bee.

Romanarama · 28/04/2010 16:01

Whelk look at astley clarke for a big choice of nice things. My granny gave me a diamond ring that was stolen in August last year

Romanarama · 28/04/2010 16:03

LLB I love that McQ dress, and also the CLs the model's wearing

Whelk · 28/04/2010 16:17

Oh thank you LTEC!
My Grannie and I both love(d) wildlife and the outdoors (in fact when she was very ill at the end I would wheel her out to sit and watch the butterflies in the garden) so the Alex Monroe pieces seem kind of fitting as well as being beautiful. I love the Dragonfly and also the Clover.

Whelk · 28/04/2010 16:19

Romanarama - how awful about your ring. That must have been upsetting.

legalquery · 28/04/2010 17:04

just rushing in quickly...allbuggied...I too ordered a 12 and got a 14L (weird?!). Red - I reckon you have a much better body than me. It doesn't work for me so it's going back.

I have the McQ scarf dress and it's lovely - though spanx essential to avoid VPL!

And the Alex Monroe - I'm ashamed to admit I have both the dragonfly and the bea - I love them both - the dragonfly is more delicate and perhaps the bea more flattering on my huge chest!

I had just got my winter wardrobe looking pretty amazing and now we hit hot weather I'm fine for slouching around but for work I have nothing! Shall need your A&W advice over the coming weeks to get me sorted (though I shopped my wardrobe and found a cotton McQ dress I bought that I was too fat to wear last year - it finally fits and I got 3 compliments from strangers...which NEVER HAPPENS TO ME!)

Looking forward to catching up on all the links later.

legalquery · 28/04/2010 17:20

sorry - forgot to name change back but I'm guessing you know who I am by my shameless avidity!

LLBean · 28/04/2010 18:13

Roman - I do like the McQ dress too. Just a bit worried that it might be too glam for a wedding? But therein lies my problem - I'm very when I see someone else wearing this type of dress but I'm usually too chicken to go for it myself. Maybe it's time to up my game!!
