Credit to Everything for the lovely new title!

OP posts:

Remembered what else I was going to say

Cain - congrats on the job!

Verity - I have been looking at those mint velvet skinnies in the nude and white too. I couldn't get into the topshop baxters - not enough elastene for my huge saddlebags comfort. I am going to try the GAP ones on again later but I really would prefer a higher rise and the MV ones look more highwaisted no? I may even look at Boden

Blossoming - you are entertaining your IL's again poor old you, do you get them every w/e or are you just having a bad run

Oooh yes, also meant to say that I ran into Primark and managed to grab a statement tribal necklace (bit like this) in orange/pink/gold for £4. Think it will look great with a plain white tee/vest jeans and my multicolored glads.

notyummy · 23/04/2010 20:56

OK, all this talk of skinnies has got me thinking...

Anyone on this thread who is pear shaped and wears skinnies must tell me what are the most flattering. I am a tall size 10/12 and avoided skinnies for years, (am a 'late adopter' in some things I guess - only just toying with an i phone

The nearest I have got so far is are the Top Shop skinny flare cut, which I love.

eshermummy · 23/04/2010 20:58

hells - you are tall so that M&S dress would look even better on you. It is a really really soft handled cotton that feels like a heavyweight soft silk. I haven't tried it on properly yet but am hoping it will look great worn very simply with bare legs (once I've sorted them ) and tan glads. Well worth a punt on an online order imo.

Tracey - I nearly put in my previous post a comment that the cropped cardy was on the nose for you - am absurdly chuffed to have guessed correctly . I am envisioning over a pretty little dress or tunic or maxi - am not keen on how the model is wearing over a long vest. Is very cropped so think it will look nice over something with a bit more volume.

traceybath · 23/04/2010 20:59

Ooooh quite like this too on M&S website. What do you think of the silver?

blossoming · 23/04/2010 21:05

esher, re ILs, as probably mentioned before dh is one of six. It would be feasible to have someone every weekend. Luckily we don't.
Even so we are on the run from hell.

hellsbelles · 23/04/2010 21:08

Tracey - I think it's potentially a bit weird fitting in the tummy area - looks unflattering even on the model?

You are right on the Jbrands! They are the houlihan ones.

Sorry I didn't see your post about the wedding. It's all as good as it possibly could be! As the dress has some cream colour in it, it goes with the flowers she wanted so she's happy. And...she's also having a wedding party later in the month so I get a chance to debut the YSL dress! Perfect!

Esher...I will definitely try that one it. It's such a bargain. Thanks for the tip. I'm sorting my legs out too. I read that the Dove version of 'holiday skin' is supposed to be better so I just bought my bottle today and will get started with it tonight!

hellsbelles · 23/04/2010 21:09

sorry didn't explain - I mean it's oddly baggy

eshermummy · 23/04/2010 21:11

Tracey - Well I like it . I recently had to send back a promising ltd collection vest though(this one) as neckline was just a fraction too high and looked "wrong" - this one could be the same but can't tell unless you try.......

hellsbelles · 23/04/2010 21:15

i will be right I tell you I reckon they are cut from the same pattern.

hellsbelles · 23/04/2010 21:16

I know what's going to happen. It's going to turn out to be the next tam tam! And no one will ever ever trust a post from me again

hellsbelles · 23/04/2010 21:18

blast - the dress is only available in size 18!! It seems like you did spot a popular one there Esher

blossoming · 23/04/2010 21:23

hells, report back on the dove stuff. I use j&j which I'm happy with, but it doesn't last long.

hellsbelles · 23/04/2010 21:31

I will indeed.

Fel1x · 23/04/2010 21:32

FREEDL51 is a free delivery code for M&S girls if you are ordering.. (one use only)

eshermummy · 23/04/2010 21:34

Hells - they had loads instore though, just saw it as I was walking through yesterday.
I think you are right about the vest actually as iirc it was weirdly baggy around the chest area and below (as well as being a bit too high of neck)

notyummy - I am not really a skinnies fan - most of the ones I try on seem so goddamn tight that my inner Waynetta simply will not permit me to suffer the discomfort. I particularly hate the ones that actually make the backs of your knees ache by the end of the day
Last winter I had some black denim jeggings and am thinking of getting some white denim ones for summer - if you only ever plan to wear with long tops/tunics then imo jeggings are much easier.
I also struggle with fact most skinnies are lowrise as per witterings above.
I personally feel the holy grail of jeans is a cross between a skinny and a straight leg - basically a slim straight leg. I have one very old pair of Paul &Joe sister jeans that are this and I am always on the look out for something similar.

Fel1x · 23/04/2010 21:44

Esher and notyummy - have you tried Topshop Martha jeans? I have a pair and they are a very slim fit straight leg jean. Would def class them as a cross between skinny and straight leg.
I'm a size 10/12, usually a 12 in trousers and I fit a size 10 in these. They are low waisted though...

CHOOGIRL · 23/04/2010 21:59

Choo comes running into the room without checking any previous posts to let everyone know there is 30% off dresses on MyWardrobe. Code MYDRESS. Back later ladies - just off to My-Wardrobe.

notyummy · 23/04/2010 22:15

Thanks for the skinny musings - and the my-wardrobe code!

monkeysmama · 23/04/2010 22:44

Sooo tired so just a quickie.

Tracey love the silver vest. I have a leopard print metallic vest. It's a bit much even by my standards but I'm spending the summer in Italy so it will get loads of wear. Might buy that one too. Far more subtle.

Everything I have two pairs of those trousers I wear at home. They're super comfy. Not so keen on the shape etc for going out though I adore hareems. Wore my H&M silk feel black ones today and loved them. I'd go for a bit more tailoring. Topshop have nice ones too.

Hells I noticed you'd gone too! Glad to hear your mum's happy.

Cakey hope you're ok lovely.

Cain well done on job.

Bunjies good luck!

Esher love some of your links. That denim dress looks great. I tried to buy it immediately but yes, alas only an 18 available.

Finally, other animal print fans. Bought a pair of sandals for 14quid in Peacocks today. Real beigy mushroom suede (looks better quality than £14) with a zebra print oval shape over foot. V plain, lovely and look much more expensive.

Finally finally, which New Look trousers do you have? Think I saw them today. What's the sizing like?

That's it for now. Off to bed then pack for Italy tmrw .

Have any of you on fb heard from cakey?

redshoesnoknickers · 24/04/2010 07:30

Oh notyummy I love that spotty people tree dress - very tempted...

In the end I wore tan knee boots. I think those peep-toes need to go in the charity bag - def not avid of wise! i also need to buy some more clothes and clear out my wardrobe after a bit of a try-on-everything-you-possess sesh pre-going out last night!

I also like that m&s dress tho i do have a mental block to buying from there or next...shudder.

I am very of the jbrands hells. I really want to invest in some fabulous jeans... none of minefit quite right and i haven't made the leap to the next price bracket - just got cheapies atm (new look/topshop) but have tried diesel/french connection/levis etc in the past. Jeans shopping is just the worst kind for me...endless. Did anyone read Harpers recently where they did an article on finding the perfect jeans and profiled that shop in London? I'm very tempted to make a trip up and go there once i shift this stone. I don't mind paying alot for jeans cos you wear them forever so we'll see!

Hope you all have a lovely sunny day - re: feet out i've been in havs for about 3 weeks but i do live by the seaside on the south coast so it's almost obligatory!

notyummy · 24/04/2010 08:43

mm - cakey not on fb since Thursday. Don't want to post anything on her page in case it gets others worried and she gets harassed by well-meaning friends and rellies. Hope shes ok though!

traceybath · 24/04/2010 08:49

Morning All.

Another glorious day here - have been up and done chores and made dough for pizzas later. DS1 has started learning fractions so will be using pizzas to demonstrate his new found knowledge apparently.

Off into town in a bit to return reiss scarf and have a little wander.

Am going to order the m&s cardigan but think hells is right about silver vest top.

Have cat'd ltec although not sure if she is set up to receive them.

Hells - is it your birthday soon or have we missed it?
