Wonder how quickly we'll fill this one?

OP posts:
PlumSykes · 23/03/2010 19:49

hells, I am yellow-toned, but fair (will have been piling on the Holiday Skin for a while by then though!) dark eyes, dark brown cropped hair. (32, GSOH, own teeth, non-smoker)

Didn't try frock on, but think coulours should be good, is actually the shape that might be a disaster. I'm a flat-tummed hourglass, and it may look a bit sac-o-pots on me. Shall go to shops solo and give it a try.

OP posts:
hellsbelles · 23/03/2010 19:53

at Plum! Agree on the colouring. I also think you are right on the shape. It might hide all the best bits of hourglass so is definately one for trying rather than a 'sure thing'! TBH - I can't say I've fallen in love with it at first sight but it could be one that looks fab (or awful) on! Looking forward to full report after trying.

ApuskiDusky · 23/03/2010 19:55

Evening all! Things have been busy on here today! Am not long in from work, DH gone out to dinner so I am pottering in the kitchen. And my Juicy trousers have arrived today, still to be tried on. Will catch up and post later.

OurLadyOfPerpetualSupper · 23/03/2010 20:01

Another occasional de-lurker coming out from behind the sandbags.

I promise you I'm a totally benign presence - I love seeing a thing of beauty even if I can't posess it.
Reason I don't post much is I'm not avid enough to be useful, but I've appreciated discovering lots of new websites (plus I'm erm 46 so come at this from a whole different perspective).

I did see a pair of ballet flats similar to some posted earlier by Vin, fatface - ballerina twists I think.

The fat ankles thing is down to your own judgement!

hellsbelles · 23/03/2010 20:04

Reminded by our other delurker (welcome ourlady!) |vin - I have got bloch flats and they are so comfortable - I was all set up to post about them and forgot. I usually find ballet flats quite uncomfortable but somehow those are very very good. Not sure what they've done differently!

LetThemEatCake · 23/03/2010 20:38

Hellloooo everyone!! what fun!

Plum I love the fabric of that dress but I'm not sold on the shape - deffo one to try on.

hells God I can't believe that your dh is a talented writer and you've let let you read my fluff and nonsense . But yes yes please find me on FB!!my profile pic is of my 3dcs.

On my own tonight so I will be around, in between some invoicing, blazer-hunting and general faffing. Can't wait until esher gets back.

anyone watching supersize v superskinny?? horrific

LetThemEatCake · 23/03/2010 20:39

you've let me let you read

must learn to preview

HappyHome · 23/03/2010 20:52

Just watching S v S - it really does show the extremes doesn't it.
As a constant dieter I can identify how obssesive a person get about food. However I love food too much to ever be that obsessive - hence the constant dieting

hellsbelles · 23/03/2010 20:57

LTEC - I love your writing style. Don't you dare say that. DH had a rather different style...to be revived in the future I'm sure when work doesn't dilute it so much.

. I am rubbish at FB. I have no photos (well 2???). I have a new friend that has about 740 photos and some videos and writes the most wonderfully witty updates. I am very - for some reason I just cannot bring myself to work out albums and updates and keeping the whole thing alive. But I love it when other people do. I mean this girl...she is amazing! I would actually link (as she seems to allow photo access to anyone) but I fear that would be an invasion of her privacy.

Where is Esher?

LetThemEatCake · 23/03/2010 21:02

she's on hols, innit. Getting a tan and relaxing.

I used to be better at pics etc on fb. Mostly of the kids, and mostly for the benefit of my friends back home.

is it PR???

CHOOGIRL · 23/03/2010 21:04

Hi Everyone

Just going to check out the links.

To Hasbeen or not to Hasbeen - that is tonight's question.

hellsbelles · 23/03/2010 21:12

LTEC - no! Even worse. stop trying to guess you cheeky madam! I'll tell you when I meet you or find you on FB.

Choo - as an 'early adopter' of Hasbeens my answer is of course 'to Hasbeen' (now if I could just find an occasion to actually wear them....)

Fleecy · 23/03/2010 21:16

rufus was it you that asked about the mustard hasbeens? I'm not the biggest hasbeen lover but I'm rather partial to mustard shoes and am in fact wearing mustard Mary Janes today.

So I'd say go for it!

hells what sort of writer is your DH? There are lots of writers on this thread then what with LTEC, Plum (I think?) and me all doing various different wordy things. Anyone else?

When was bodsmum due? Do you think she's disappeared to have her baby? Wouldn't that be exciting!

hellsbelles · 23/03/2010 21:20

he used to be a poet - but now most often has to turn his hand to the dark arts of long copy (as you will appreciate I'm sure Fleecy )

No more from me though on that as a lot of RL friends know I MN and I'd rather they didn't find me

LetThemEatCake · 23/03/2010 21:27

Your dh is so Lord Byron, hells

My dh and I are having a great time reading all of the awful reviews that his film is getting. Jonathan Ross said "not the worst film I've ever seen, but certainly a contender"

I'd like to point that my dh is only responsible for how the film looks, in a cinematic sense

Bodsmum was due, like, soon!!! Within a few days I think!!!

Go on Choo, Hasbeen. Give your poor tired feet a break from the CLs with some swedish orthopedic clogs

PlumSykes · 23/03/2010 21:42

this would look nice with your Hasbeens, LTEC.

OP posts:
hellsbelles · 23/03/2010 21:45

The fools...surely they are commenting on the beauty of the visuals and of course the exciting debut of an emerging superstar .

Is your DH as gorgeous as he looks in wedding pic or did he arrange for flattering lighting?

My DH is not Lord Byron at all at the moment (in fact he is playing on his ipod and flicking his toes). And cross that I have put on a face pack.

How exciting Bodsmum -our first thread baby!

GeorginaWorsley · 23/03/2010 22:22

LTEC ys,I watched Supersize vs Superskinny.
The anorexic bit was awful. That lovely lady with long hair, she used to be so gorgeous.
Very sad.

As a lurker, I have to agree with crumpette - absolutely no judgement here. Plenty of at your wardrobes / fashion sense, but I'm not one of the killjoys sensible people who baulk at expensive goodies.

Weight - I can't help but eat! I really need to stop it, because I'm ballooning & clothes that should hang now sort of bulge I severely lack willpower, though!

Plum, I'm not 100% sold on the dress - would have to see it on. It kind of reminds me of the pixels you get on tv to cover someone's modesty, but that effect might be lost upon wearing.

hana, buy that dress! It sounds amazing. Worry about the details later, just snap it up before someone else does!

ApuskiDusky · 23/03/2010 22:52

Just had notification of 20% off Ghost this Thursday and Friday, code is Spring 20.

I'm about to haul my pregnant self to bed, so I'm only doing a quick post, but have to report that I love my Juicy cropped trousers. I know they are 10x the price of the Urban Outfitters ones, but I love them. So soft and lovely!

G'night all!

LetThemEatCake · 23/03/2010 23:05

oh thanks Plum! will check it out in RL.

hells, he's pretty handsome, really - but did look particularly good on the wedding day

hana. HANA!!!
Listen to yourself:
"my concern is that it is not really ME."
followed by
"it's important that I look different"

If it's not your usual style, so much the better - YOU will wear the dress, it's not wearing you - you will make it you, iyswim.

IME, no new style ever feels like 'me' until I get my head around it. Not quite the same thing, but I only got my knees out for the first time in YEARS about 2 years ago. No joke. I died a thousand deaths that first day. Don't think twice about it now.

springy is right - worry about the details later.

CHOOGIRL · 23/03/2010 23:30

Have just ordered this. Quidco cashback is now 15% so potentially quite bargainous.

One more question on Hasbeens - would it be bad to order them for DD (aged 4)- or just a little mini me?

Moneyspider · 24/03/2010 07:14

T K Maxx now selling frocks online

PlumSykes · 24/03/2010 09:28

Good tip, Moneyspider. Have just ordered this
