Wonder how quickly we'll fill this one?

vinauchocolat · 17/03/2010 09:57

these are a bit like the choos you sent back LTEC but I personally think they are nicer. However they still look quite high

traceybath · 17/03/2010 12:03

Morning All.

Have just ordered the kimberley dress from whistles - would link but crap website.

Also ordered a marc by marc jacobs silk tea dress from the outnet sale yesterday - only £40 so worth a try I felt.

MM - glad you backed away from the jeans - but you know me I'd be spray tanned in white spray on jeans and leopard skin all the time if I gave free reign to my taste

Choo - I've tried on a couple bits of HH in harvey nicks and it comes up big.

traceybath · 17/03/2010 12:06

You see I love this but am aware it would probably not be a good look on me.

Barbabelle · 17/03/2010 12:32

The alexas arrived and are gorgeous. I'm a size 7 and ordered a 41 rather than a 40 as they looked a bit on the narrow size. They're a perfect fit. Only trouble is my feet look well manky Will have to pay them some attention before weather warms up.

Vin that fuschia bag is wonderful. None left in stock though and I'm sad. Let me know if you decide to return it.

LetThemEatCake · 17/03/2010 14:18

good shopping trip Plum love the bag

tracey that dress looks very much like my Maje snakeskin one - what are you trying to say???!!!!

MM did you buy the Fever stripe maxi in the end? I saw it on a mannequin in RL today - no stupid pose - and it looked v.nice and appeared as though it would be v.flattering on.

Thanks for the shoe link vin I saw them on the site and checked them out in store, but yes, too high I'm afraid.

I may have to go back to Square 1 - Hasbeens!!! Surely something that originated as a worker/ peasant shoe will be more or less comfy?

Think I have nailed the "what to do with long hair" issue - have done the Wang Plait - as per the 2nd pic, not Cheryl's take on it last 2 days in a row and it seems to be working for me. Less of the birdsnest effect, but essentially the same thing. Can't remember the last time I had so many appreciative looks from reasonably decent-looking men!!!

traceybath · 17/03/2010 14:30

Your hair sounds very chic Miss Cake.

You see I knew there was a reason I liked the snake dress - it reminded me of the one you've got

So, I too am still wondering about the hasbeens or these. Need to be for daytime running around so not too high - decisions, decisions . . .

traceybath · 17/03/2010 15:32

Oh I love this.

blossoming · 17/03/2010 16:06

LTEC, I wonder if you've seen the Times today?
They answered a question about good quality sandals to walk to work in on page 5 of the fashion bit.

They have some Clarks piazza sandals in tan which have a wedge heel. They look quite nice. They also recommend the bouillon from ecco and Nike glads for £50. All highly improbable I know but maybe worth a look.

bunjies · 17/03/2010 18:15

It's been a such a gorgeous day here today one could almost be forgiven for thinking that Spring had actually sprung. In fact the kids spent more than 20 seconds outside which is a record these days.

Love the print Tracey but I'm of the opinion that if you're going strapless the dress should be more fitted unless it's a maxi. Although as I don't own a single strapless dress what do I know!!

I saw someone else with that plait on the telly (can't remember who it was for the life of me) and I remember thinking that looks lovely, I wish I had hair long and thick enough. I can imagine why you've been getting the looks Cake.

That's great about the Alexas, Barbabelle.

I have decided I do not like The Sanctuary as they wouldn't let me have a massage unless I also paid a £69 day membership fee on top of the price of the massage. So I have decided to give these guys a try. And they're just off Oxford Street so I'll be even nearer the shops I want to visit and then be in time for my hair appt at Eleven. Oh, and I'm going to give Bicester a try on Weds as well. This country bumpkin is going to be a very happy bunny next week .

BTW - tried the courgette cupcakes on Sunday and they went down a treat so thank you for the recipe. The kids and I loved the snow meringue icing but dh was less than enthusiatic, saying it was too eggy. What does he know anyway.

God, it's really hard typing when you've had a couple of g&ts. You can tell I've switched into summer mode when the gin comes out .

Romanarama · 17/03/2010 18:26

here's the Times article

Romanarama · 17/03/2010 18:30

Actually don't bother! I've just googled all three recommendations and they're all hideous. The Nike is perhaps the most especially horrible. here

notyummy · 17/03/2010 19:07

Been flicking through this weeks Grazia and there are are some LOVELY dresses> hang on whilst I find some links...

bunjies · 17/03/2010 19:18

There is absolutely no excuse for that Romanarama! Some have been eulogising over the fly flot shoes in the comments section. They are truly awful.

notyummy · 17/03/2010 19:29

hello!

this

...and this

There was also a gorgeous Lila Hudson skirt from Anthropologie that I can't find anywhere..

bunjies · 17/03/2010 19:40

What do people think of these

these

these

monkeysmama · 17/03/2010 19:54

Hey all

I didn't get the Fever dress yet Cakey but definitely will now. A bit unkeen on buying more things I can't wear now which is why I haven't ordered it. I have a rail of nude silk tops and harems calling out to me already. It was so nice yesterday though, I was in the park in my gap ls tee, jeans, uggs & nothing else . Lovely. Maybe spring is finally on the way.

Ordered the French Connection jeans I linked to yesterday to see how they look on. Ordered an asos stripey red & blue cardi too (on iPhone at mum's so no links) that really grabbed me even though I've never really been a cardi girl. They seem to hide muffinage well and I really like the blue and white stripey one I got from there last week. Also found some Topshop harpers on eBay and bought for £12 buy it now. They've seconds but only have a missing button (apparently) so fingers crossed my jeans dilemmas wil be over. Also ordered 4 more Pima cotton Gap lsleeve tees. A woman (with a toddler) can never have enough plain teeshirts.

Dp out again. St Patrick's Day so at my mum's waiting for my sis to come over to plan our next holiday-a week in Portugal in May I think .

reallygrumpy · 17/03/2010 20:37

Well my quest for a pair of summer shoes I might actually be able to walk in continues... What do you think of the Mar T bar Espidrille on this page?

Hells are the hasbeens comfortable? I really like the look of them but worry that the wooden sole means the straps will rub (if that makes any sense?!?!)

MM happy holiday planning! My DH is also out this eve so will probably crash in drunk at some point...

LTEC - DH has agreed to go and watch my last 5 girlfriends with me... but only if I take him to a cinema where he can have a beer so I'll have to see if it's on at any of the Everyman cinemas.

I'm going to have to reduce my online shopping for a bit as DH has noticed the number of parcels arriving for me (he's working from home alot at the mo) and is complaining the money could be better spent on our new house... Still I can live vicariously through your purchases and go shopping at lunch time on the days when work's less manic

Oh, and I've allowed him out of the doghouse, my (belated) mother's day present arrived today

bunnymother · 17/03/2010 20:42

Bunjies - I had a wonderful massage at Elemis near Bond St - tucked away in little side street. Charming location, heavenly massage. Perhaps worth an Internet looksy?

Am STILL trying to settle DD who is breaking her staying up late record tonight. Not happy Jan. Will check in later.

LetThemEatCake · 17/03/2010 20:49

tracey I'm not sure about that dress ... I almost like it but there's just a bit too much going on ...can you link to the bargain MJ dress??

notyummy mi piace molto that stripey dress but fear it is not for pears... also the first pair of shoes bunjies; I've linked to them before actually. The other two are also both nice. I've bitten the bullet and ordered these Hasbeens - I don't dare ever hang about with shoes as my size disappears so quickly. Will report back!!

grumpy you are a star!! my dh is also a spurs fan .What was your real mothers day pres?

Have got the Times, my god those Nikes ming!!!

traceybath · 17/03/2010 20:52

Bunjies - I like the french connection ones and have had them in my basket but something stops me actually buying them and I'm not sure what it is.

Do like the other ones though - the second ones are very otelo like.

Reallygrumpy - I like those hobbs espadrilles - they look lovely and I love red shoes.

MM - week in portugal sounds lovely.

I returned lots of stuff today so feeling fairly virtuous. But oh dear - buying for a DD is so much fun. I love buying stuff for my ds's too but theres just so much more variety for girls . . . Am now also thinking about my old handbags - oh no I can't possibly ebay that - Bea will want it when she's older

ltec But it says 'flattering' cut!

traceybath · 17/03/2010 21:14

Tea dress for when I'm feeling my inner Mary Wesley vibe. Will probably go right back but we'll see.

LTEC I am so dithering over the hasbeens - will await your verdict.

blossoming · 17/03/2010 21:17

Okay, I apologise unreservedly for introducing ugly shoes to this thread.

In my defence I didn't google any of them as was on iPhone.
Still haven't seen the nikes. Will look tomorrow.

Don't you all think we should be writing the style pages?

hellsbelles · 17/03/2010 21:24

Tracey - I think I really like that dress! But don't report back if it's nice - as it's sold out I shall just be fiendishly jealous

Oh I miss you lot. Bloody work getting in the way - I have not time to shop or MN!

I can't really comment properly on the comfort of Hasbeens as i'm sure I got the wrong size and it's such a faff sending back (why oh why didn't I wait for the UK sellers like you sensible W&A ladies did). Also I haven't had a chance to wear them yet as it's too bloody cold. Will report when I've worn them for more than prancing about in front of the mirror.

Cake - I think the ones you got are the same as mine - but i got a red pair.

For the last 2 days I have been very good about making an effort with my clothes. DH is being complimentary about this and it is nice not to feel like a drudge. I think I may actually start laying out clothes the night before...something I've never managed before. Wish me luck.
